Basic rooms with very small showers! The TV remote didn't work and when I mentioned it I got a shrug of the shoulders! The staff on reception were pretty useless to be honest, after leaving my phone in a taxi and asking them to ring it before he could go too far I was told that "they didn't have the capability to ring mobiles from reception " and that was it. Met friends there who were stopping by the Reeperbahn for less money and not having to pay the €15 standard taxi fare to go anywhere.
A&O Hotel is fine for a shorter stay. It was perfect for that trip I had with 2 kids. We shared a room and there was all we needed. The kids really enjoyed the breakfast and the lobby with the bar was good for the grownups in the evening.
This was booked for my stag do, they have twin rooms of you don't want to share with strangers, the rooms were clean as were the WC/Shower. It's not plush but for a short trip or lads holiday perfect. Breakfast and bar. Staff really friendly and helped with taxis etc. I would use this hostel again.
Two adults one child in a room of 4. Clean and quiet. Friendly and helpful staff. Close to art galleries and underground. Costs were at 30 € p.p. per night...which is excellent value for money. Breakfast buffet with decent choice, fresh fruit, muesli, cheese, salami, wholemeal bread at 7 € p.p.. People smoke in the entrance area in front of the hotel causing the smell of cigarettes in the staircase...well not terrible but rather unpleasant. The noise of other guests in the corridor can be heard. If one just needs a bed / shower...nearly perfect.
Good check in with very friendly manager, but we had to request that our two rooms were located near each other on the same floor, which is not what had been allocated. Both single rooms were on the same booking. Rooms were quite small, especially one of them (740) but very clean and they had all the basics. Curtains in room 740 did not fully cover the window. The heating was very good in the room. The bed reasonably comfortable and good towels. Pillow was a big flat square, but could be folded over to give more support. Excellent Wi-Fi. The TV did not have any English channels, unlike the chain's hotel in Dresden. Did not have breakfast but at c€7 it looked reasonable. The single rooms cost about €150 each for two nights including room tax paid locally. We paid in advance and saved 5%. Reasonable but not cheap.
I was not sure what to expect of this hostel visited on a stag weekend. Shared a 4 bed room with its own shower and toilet. There was a mix up surround the provision of bed linen so if you visit make sure you check that it is included, the staff did sort it out eventually though. Having said all that the place was very clean and well maintained and handy for the station and city centre.
We have stayed for 2 day. You pay a small price for what they offer (2 star hostel). Clean and friendly staff, good breakfast for only 7 euros. The only bad thing is the room heating. Was very cold, the windows was defective probably and the heater was not warm enough to get the room warmer. Please advise the staff about the room 638, to fix the heating and the window.
Room was basic but clean shower gel and hand soap provided in ensuite. Room was warm & could adjust radiator which was great as it was very cold outside. Good location 10 minute walk to centre & Christmas markets. Didn't have breakfast as choose to eat out. Stayed two nights room price nearly double for Friday night as opposed to the Thursday night.
+ the staff is friendly + the location is pretty good - It is overpriced. The service and the room conditions surely are not of the price one pays for. - Extra little surprises: paying for bed linen. I have never paid extras for bed linen in other hostels (only for towels). At the reception the staff had to ask me if I pay for the bed linen or I have my own linen with me. Yes sure, I do. I have also a pillow and my blanket with me. Moreover, I´ve brought a bed , just in case!!!So,taking in consideration that the hostel is overpriced, one do not expect that coming -I have booked a female dorm! When I went to sleep , nobody was there yet. But in the morning I woke up with 5 men snoring around me!!!! Make sure one more time that you will be sent to a dorm you have actually booked :)
I took an individual room. Very low standard even for a hostel, specially for paying between 80-100 euros per night!! Cleaning service was unexisting, lot of noise everywhere, wifi was not working properly and the card for entering the room was failing every now and then (I paid 10 euros for a 4 hours later check out and I was lock out of my room for roughly 1h 30 min).
