This rental needs a thorough cleaning and a lot of basic maintenance to bring it to a minimum acceptable standard level that we’ve come to expect from a VRBO. Broken mismatched furniture, threadbare linens, leaky plumbing in the bathroom leaving a pool on the floor, graffiti on fridge, broken back panel on stove and missing cupboard doors are a few examples. There are other issues. The kitchen is poorly stocked for cooking and serving meals. Air Conditioning is located in kitchen so the bedrooms were uncomfortably hot. The laundry is coin operated. The “ironing board” is a table with a cloth on top. On the plus side, each bedroom does come with its own beer fridge. Good location with a great donair shop and a wine bar out the front door.

This property is an older home. It is upstairs. There is a smell when you enter. We found it very dark as all the trim is older and has been repainted black. The walls are a darker grey. Some of the bedding had holes in it. Stove was falling apart and the kitchen cupboards and dishes didn’t look clean. Gum on a carpet in the one bedroom and there were used contact lens stuck to the outside of the shower in the one wash room. The other washroom the bottom of the shower smelt very musty. Parking was tricky. It was very tight. You parked in between too house and you only had about 4 inches of room both sides of the vehicle with a minivan. The windows were held open by a stick from a tree in the yard, some had holes in the casing, and when opening or closing they had a tendency to be hard to move, and fall out of their tracks. Some of the linens were stained and had holes in them.

Not a great ending to our holiday

Unfortunately upon arriving at the property I immediately realized that this was not the place for us. The property was not clean and some of the linens even had holes! It made me realize that I need to pay more attention when booking and be more skeptical. We unfortunately paid for an accommodation that we didn't use as we left and grabbed a last minute hotel for our time in Halifax!
