Stunning ‘Maison de Maitre’ with Private Pool, Near Cognac. Sleeps 10

Newly refurbished ‘Voir La Beaute’ near Cognac in South West France, with a private pool set in private grounds in the small village of Haimps. This idyllic french village is surrounded by Sunflower fields & Vineyards. The nearby town of Matha is a 5 minute drive away & has all amenities. The Sandy beaches of Royan & the beautiful La Rochelle & Ille de Re are under an hours drive away. Closer to home are the many Cognac Houses that you can visit to taste the local drink ‘Pineau’ and Golf du Cognac is 20 minutes away.
The house has been recently refurbished to a very high standard with many period features remaining. In front of the house is a large terrace with outdoor dining table & chairs, BBQ, Outdoor Sofa, 2 x Armchairs & Coffee Table. Step down off the terrace onto the decked area with heated swimming pool , sun loungers with a parasol, deckchairs & a hammock on a stand. The house is South facing & benefits from the sun all day long.
The spacious open plan Kitchen/Diner/Living Area has been tastefully fitted out with a handmade shaker style kitchen. There is a striking original charentaise feature fireplace with a wood burning stove for cosy winter evenings. The kitchen is fully equipped with a large island & barstools, range cooker, dishwasher, filter coffee machine & wine fridge for both red & white wines. There is an antique wooden extending farmhouse dining table & chairs that seats 6-10 people, a sofa & even a hanging chair creating a lovely sociable area for cooking, entertaining & hanging out together. Leading off from the kitchen is a cosy living area with original wood floors. It has been decorated with a striking designer wallpaper & has a large comfy corner sofa, leather armchair & Smart TV (Netflix) for relaxing family evenings. There is also a downstairs toilet. Upstairs there are 5 bedrooms & 3 bathrooms spread over two floors. The master bedroom on the first floor has a kingsize four poster bed & en suite, there is a main house bathroom with a freestanding bath & large walk in shower & a shower room on the top floor with a double sink unit. The smallest room on the top floor is currently used as a ‘kids den’ with a smart TV & double futon sofa bed. There is also a very useful Laundry Room on the first floor with a washing machine. The house is ideally suited for multiple families or large family gatherings.
The vacation home is heated and features a kitchen, 2.5 bathrooms, and a patio, and there's space to spread out with 5 bedrooms. Guests can enjoy a Smart TV and stay connected with free WiFi. Other standard amenities include a private pool, a washing machine, and a fireplace.

A wonderful fortnight in this beautiful home

We had a fantastic, relaxing holiday in this wonderfully unique and comfortable house. The super outside space with the pool and numerous loungers was perfect for spending lazy days and early evenings on our return from many gorgeous day trips to nearby towns or further afield to the coast which was around an hours drive away. Emma was a pleasure to deal with from start to finish and should be so proud of the beautiful home she has created!

Lots of space for us all. Great house. Pool was nice. Lovely peaceful location. Some minor housekeeping issues. A welcome basket would be a nice touch if guests have come a long way. Also info on nearest shops and how to recycle our bottles etc

Peaceful rural getaway

Lovely overall 10-day stay with our 2 families in this beautifully decorated and well appointed house; plenty of room, comfy beds, fantastic water pressure, amazing social family kitchen with range cooker, fridge freezer and drinks fridge. (Only teeny thing was the microwave wasnt working during our stay). The pool was perfect for our five 8-10 yr olds and there's lots of comfortable seating outside to enjoy the sunshine. 4 loos and 3 bathrooms across the property which was fab; and lots of fans to keep the air circulating at night when we didnt want to invite in the mozzies to share the night! Quiet and very French largely argricultural area; the local town of Matha has pharmacy, boulangerie, boucherie, cafe and there are lots of nearby supermarkets. Super helpful tourist office in Matha which can tell you about local markets etc. The house is a lovely peaceful base from which to explore nearby towns of Cognac and Saintes, and the bustling coastal city of La Rochelle is only 1hr 15mins by car for a visit. Really lovely stay, and good value for a large group holiday! Excellent commuicative host and lots of information and useful contacts for pool maintenance, etc.

Impressionné par la qualité de cette location. Nous étions 9 adultes et nous n'étions vraiment pas à l'étroit. Très confortable et au calme, nous y retournerons sans hésiter. Avec de surcroit une vraie cuisine équipée. Le seul petit bémol: les propriétaires ne sont pas sur place, ce n'est donc pas toujours facile de communiquer avec eux.
