The staff was super friendly at Linareva and the resort was just beautiful with the mountains in the background. I prefer the less touristy locations and it was a perfect choice. Liz brought us a huge fruit tray our first day to celebrate my dad's birthday. We had a car to drive around the island during the mornings and then spent the afternoons relaxing on the beach, snorkeling from the pier, or kayaking. Watching the nurse sharks feed was incredible. We could take photos of the spectacular beach sunsets from our patio and the star gazing at night was unbelievable. The staff was all exceptional and welcoming and there was an honor bar with all types of beverages. We had dinner catered the first night which was delicious. Moustache the cat sat on my lap each day after breakfast so I wouldn't miss my own cats. The queen of the night flower which only blooms once a year at night was getting ready to open just outside my room but I had to leave before I was able to see it. I would love to come back again with my husband.
This was our second trip to Linareva, and it was just as charming as before. The cottages are super clean, the grounds impeccably maintained, and the staff are friendly and approachable. Liz and Melina in particular were fun and welcoming. This is a perfect place to relax on a budget. It's also great for families wanting a self-catering option. Also, many of the local restaurants will pick you up if you don't have a rental car. We'll be back. Merci!
Well here it is 2017 and after 8 years returning back to my favorite resort ON the beach again everything was on par. The rooms and bathrooms got an update but the general feel hear, is live like a local with character and charm. The pier makes a great place to snorkel and take photos from. Rooms are tastefully decorated and the kitchens are fully equipped for cooking up your own meals. Full size fridge, a/c, plenty of views and outside tables completely take care of the rest. Exceptional staff welcomes you and makes sure your set for an awesome holiday. Bus stops on the front of the resort for public transport. On the property there are bicycles , kayaks, snorkeling gear, free wi-fi, plenty of lawn chairs, a large covered picnic table for bigger families, hammocks on some bungalows and TV if you must. If you want peace and quiet and a serene location, then this is it, look no further.
After getting married at a hotel in Bora Bora, my wife and I headed to Moorea to honeymoon. We were so glad to have chosen Linareva over one of the bigger hotel chains. The room had everything we needed – kitchen, nice bathrooms, and beautiful view. The resort is also located on the other side of the island so we were able to experience all the culture by being away from the touristy side and not trapped in a hotel. The owner, Roland, was so friendly and wanted to make sure our stay was memorable. On our last night, he made a reservation at a family owned local restaurant on the water (Sunset). The son of the restaurant owner picked us up in his van and dropped us off. After we had our meal, the owner of the restaurant introduced himself and congratulated us. When we told the owner we were ready to leave and asked him to call his son, he refused and said he would drive us home personally. He left and returned with his Shelby Mustang and drove us home himself! It was awesome. For anyone that is looking for great service and a cultural experience of the island, this place is it. I highly recommend it and will return in the future.
Romantic beach huts with total comfort. Excellent bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen corners. Good swimming and fish watching from the pier. Good restaurants and shopping within short drive. 30 min from ferry. Ferry can be sold out for vehicles so we bought the tickets in advance over the internet. This is especially important for the return trip. Also important is to come early for the return trip as loading line is complicated and poorly marked - we almost missed the ferry by making a wrong turn in the loading line.
We enjoyed this hotel. The spacious and functional rooms are nice with a nice view on the reef. Beautiful sunsets and sharkfeeding. You need to rent a car to get there and as restaurants are far and expensive it's better to rent a bungalow with kitchen.
Amazing location wih pontoon out into the ocean. Friendly hosts that speak French, German and English. Dinner and breakfast (not included) delivered to your terrace. Reef sharks and rays are fed off the pontoon at 5pm. We fell in love at first sight.
Check your travel insurance before booking here! They have no flexibility - no refunds even for flight cancellations, unless you book directly with them. Nice view from dock with daily shark visits. Free kayaks and coaster-brake bikes. It rained here while Maharepa, on the northwest coast, was dry. Excursions and dives originated up there. You can arrange pick-ups but you pay the top rate because hotels get commissions on almost everything. Linareva is a quiet, secluded place. They have no restaurant - you order food a day ahead from a caterer. Two menus were available: sushi was good and not too expensive. I biked 3k to the general store for good fresh bread and croissants. If you have a phone, check ahead to be sure of a new delivery. Phone would also help you get the best price on excursions and taxi. Visitor guides at the "Aremiti" ferry terminal offer a schedule of the "direct" price of popular excursions. It's not hard to get to Linareva by cheap public bus that awaits each ferry. Be sure to find which of the 2 big busses goes there as soon as possible. Tell the driver you're going for your luggage; otherwise the bus will be gone by the time you return. The bus will also work for the trip back to the ferry if you allow enough time. If you need to get to the airport, bus to the ferry and take a taxi from there. We saw several waiting as a ferry pulled in, so check the ferry schedule even if you're flying.
Well, where can we start with praise for this place! Paradise! Beautiful setting with spectacular green/blue hues of steep mountains at its back and the blue/turquoise hues of the lagoon in the front. Small creamy coloured sandy beach but very long jetty which goes out along the coral platform to the drop off in deep water, making it a great place to swim, snorkel and see many different colourful fish. Nurse sharks and black tip sharks can be seen in the evening, swimming around the jetty (during the day the stay at the bottom of the deep water and are harmless to humans) and entertaining at when Roland our host fed them with huge tuna fish heads at 5pm one night. Free kayaks, bicycles and Wi-Fi. Delicious ice cream for sale next door. Pizza shop 500m down the road and supermarket 4 km down road (easily biked). Tiki Village is nearby for a great cultural night and feast. Wonderful sunsets every night from the end of the jetty. The rooms are lovely, each unique and with garden views and most with some sea views. Excellent facilities, bathroom, kitchen adequate for cooking simple meals (no oven but microwave and gas hob) fan and aircon. Catering available if you wish for breakfast and dinner. Dinner good value for 3 course meal of delicious home cooked meal! The highlight though is the hosts Roland and Edmee and their family. Really lovely friendly people who care that you have a good time, give lots of information about Mo’orea, activities, plants and stories! They went out of their way to help us when the ferry bus didn’t stop for us when we were heading to our next accommodation. Roland took us there in his car. And when our next accommodation was a disaster, they welcomed us back for 2 nights for the same price. It was like coming home! They speak very good French, English and German. Best to have a rental car if you want to travel around the island but the hosts can organize that for you in a couple of hours.
Each day we congratulated ourselves on selecting Linareva as a place of our vacation. It ticked all the right boxes. Its location is one of the most picturesque on the island with great views either direction, both the oceanscapes and the backdrop of the majestic mountains. We tried snorkelling on various beaches of Moorea and in comparison that of Linareva impressed us as one the best and safe, rich in marine life. For the information of those travellers who commented on blacktip sharks, they can be found everywhere on Moorea even in the shallow water and not just around Linareva. In my opinion speeding jetski and motorboats on some other beaches are much more dangerous than humble sharks. The resort has personal touch, our bungalow was very functional and felt like being home, the grounds are immaculate and green and not the least thing of all, the owners and all the staff are very nice and helpful. There are some food options served in the resort and an excellent pizzeria within a walking distance. Highly recommended, and I personally would be only too happy to come back there.
