We havent gotten much sleep while travelling around Thailand until we arrived in Renaissance. The room was so spacious with outdoor bathtub. Bed and pillows were amazingly comfortable, a nice change from the hotels we stayed in before. We rented motorcycles from the hotel and went to the nearby Walking Street where we stumbled upon a Muay Thai match. That was our first experience watching Muay Thai and it was amazing! Also had a massage along the street and street food. Breakfast at Renaissance was as expected - delicious with ample choices. We will definitely return!
Here for the week with the whole family. First time to Koh Samui for me. The resort sits right on the beach. Beautiful accommodations with multiple swimming pools. Last night they even offered movie night on the beach. Service is very good, even in this very hot heat. They serve you lots of cold water and frozen hand towels to cool off at the pool. Nice! Breakfast is good, even has a bloody marry section for those tough mornings.
We were visiting Renaissance Koh Samui for a meeting with a friend who stayed there. I was very impressed, to begin with the warm reception welcome! The facilities and the meals were excellent. The next time we will visit Thailand, we will book a room at your hotel for sure. Especially thanks to Bastiaan for his advice about touristic possibilities on the Island. Dr. Frogs restaurant was a real highlight. kind Regards Mr Jones
- This is my first time that i stayed in Renaissance hotel and this property is quite good. Actually I really don't like Balinese style but staff told me that the buildings were constructed before it were took over by this group. - I stay in deluxe room with big balcony and outdoor Jacuzzi. Room is not big that i expected but it's acceptable when you visit this island and need outdoor activities more than stay in the room all day. - I'm not impressed by breakfast at Banana Leaf restaurant. First, the space is very tiny and i think it isn't enough for all guests when they visit at the same time. Second, one of German staff, Michiel, told me that "We are busy" when i asked him to clean the messy floor after i got this seat from previous guests. I really know that all staffs are busy but it's my problem and he has no right to mention this phrase. - However, other Thai staffs are impressive. I want to thank you khun Namwham (Banana Leaf), khun Sai (Spa Therapist), khun Beauty (Tawann), khun Ken Wong and khun Chin who took care of us very well.
The resort is located on a quite place 20 mins drive from the town with its own private beach. Stayed in one of their Sea Facing pool room (No 606). Its very good room facing the ocean and spacious. The pool is only a plunge pool but good enough for realxing. The resort buffet breakfast had a good spread of choices and was great. Please take help from front desk for sigh seeing and other daily tour activites. The one suggested by them was In Sea Speed Boat Services and they were awesome. Used their Spa and it was good, thanks for the wonderful massage. Its a great resort!!
When you arrive at the hotel, they greed you well with well spoken English host with welcome drinks. They fully explain about the resort and its facilities. They do have few restraunt who serves Tapas and other foods, there are tow pool one ocean front , and of course you should try the spa located in a very quite place which makes your massage treatment more pleasant. We stayed at the private villa with pool garden view. Excellent breakfast at Banna leaf Restaurant. I definitely suggest to check them out .
Had a very relaxing vacation made even better by the staff at renaissance. Originally booked a standard/deluxe garden room - on arrival at property I wasn't too enthusiastic about this room. It was great inside however it is not on the beach itself and feels like a block detached from the main resort across a small strip of road. Upgraded to the garden villa which was a much better experience - lots more space, a plunge pool etc. Ended up in a beach villa due to some technical issues with the lodging which was handled well by the staff Food: The breakfast is excellent. Ken and the team work very hard to make sure expectations are exceeded. The Samui Benedict is a fantastic and unique dish - must try. Waffles etc. were excellent and broad range. The pool bar food was good as well. Often sitting around the pool area during the day they float some complimentary drinks and canapes which was a nice touch. We enjoyed our meal at Tawaan which is their in house restaurant. Nice views try for sunset and good authentic and varied thai menu. Resort: The main focus is down on the beach/pool area where you can relax all day long. They have some water sports equipment that you can take out. Beach picturesque at high tide with good views across to the main Lamai beach. It is shallow water and mostly calm, good enough to sit in or kayak out into, not much beyond this. Pool is nice and the beds at the top are a great place to laze all day. I guess in picking this resort the most important thing you have to ask yourself is what you want out of your trip. The renaissance is fairly isolated which is nice as it is not touristy and is quiet unlike the main parts of chaweng/lamai. This also brings with it the nuance of travel and taxis frequently to eat or do anything outside of the remit of renaissance. Personally I prefer this having already stayed at Chaweng and experienced the business/night life it has to offer on a previous trip. The staff are what really makes the impressive ratings on TA I would suppose (as mentioned by others this is not a very brand new and modern resort like you would expect at for example the W - nonetheless I think the villas are exemplary and suited to most luxury travellers with high expectations). The managers (Chin), lobby staff, restaurant staff, maids and bar staff demonstrate impeccable hospitality and a friendly approach. This coupled with the quality of the resort and food is what leads me to vouch for this excellent property. The main con as above pointed out is if you book a standard room do not expect much - Spending the extra on the villa to be inside and enjoy the property that much more was definitely worth it IMO. Ps make sure you sign up to marriott rewards before going to this property for free wifi
This is the best hotel we've stayed in Thailand, the staff is polite and friendly, the food was fresh, tasty and with variety, breakfast was very very good, pancakes served as in a gourmet restaurant, a lot of pastries, fruits, fresh juices, thai food. The pool and beach are also perfect, with a lot of workers around in case you need anything. Kayaks for free, drinking water is served as you seat. We took the villa with private pool and was clean and also we got a local fruit waiting as we arrived. Mini bar with everything, even instant noodles, sunscreen or mosquito repelent. It is not cheap for Thailand but it worth every baht, one of the best hotels I ever stayed. There is a free shuttle to Chaweng and Lamai, and taxis are not expensive anyway. Perfect.
Have just spent a wonderful week at Renaissance Koh Samui. I made a lot of pre arrival requests and the hotel provided everything we required and more. From the warm welcome to the cheery check out we have nothing to say except thank you to all managers and staff who were exceptionally helpful and kind. Nothing was any trouble for anyone. A truly great place to stay. If you want to relax and get away this is the place to stay. Only 30 mins by taxi and you can be anywhere you need to be. Room Tip: Beachfront Villa 107 has the best view across Lamai Bay. Sit in your private pool, switch the jets on and enjoy!
Great Service, Great Food. we stayed in front of the lap pool so we could access it at any time. better than the private villa pools. one word of caution is the beach is very rocky and not really usable. We however stayed in the pools so it was not much of a worry.
