Let's start with the good: the staff were friendly, attentive, and responsive. The location was also excellent if you like a quieter, more inaccessible beach. That happened to be us-we chose this place intentionally, but for those looking for larger beaches with a greater variety of things to do, don't fault the hotel for its remoter location. We loved Bang Por--nice and quiet. It is a little hard to get around Koh Samui unless you rent a motorcycle or car--I found the taxis overcharged and songtaews were not as frequent as in days of old. But I liked the location of this hotel. It was very quiet-and we often shared the small pool and cabana restaurant with just a handful of others. No hawkers on the beach, no parties--just nice and quiet. The hotel itself will need some upgrades soon if it wants to remain competitive. The rooms need updating. I wasn't a fan of the weird bathtub on the balcony or the wood slats as back rests--I prefer lounge chairs on my balcony. Housekeeping was hit and miss--many times they did not restock things and I had to call to have them brought to the room--or housekeeping came so late in the day as they were just arriving to the room when we were coming back from a long day at the beach. Wifi was also spotty--very hard to watch movies in the evening (and we had a family with kids, so we enjoy downtime in the evenings). Restaurant was also too pricey--we ate up the street most evenings. Breakfast was fine though (and comes with the room). Overall--I'd say this is a 3 star resort with 4 star aspirations, but will need to step up its game to compete in the real 4 star bracket. But we got a great price on Agoda and loved the location and staff--so no true complaints beyond some general comments that the hotel needs upgrades and improvements to call itself a 4 star.
Good hotel, clean room. Staff very kind and helpful. Special mention to Danny. Free wifi, swimming pool, beach very close. But no activities. Quiet and calm. I recommend. There is a spa but didn't try it. 20 minutes from fishermen village. 30 minutes from airport. Can rent a motorbike for 250 baht (6,80€) for the whole day. For the activities, you can book at the reception and most of them pick you up at the hotel. Pretty convenient. The pick up from the airport and for the come back is not free: 600 baht (16,30€) 1 way.
I've been there from march the 17th till the27th for vacation. Everything was perfect. The Hotel is not too big and this the reason why I chiose it. Beach is so close to the rooms, clean and well equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas. The restaurant is nearby the beach and while you're taking breakfast you're must in front of the sea. Food is vero good and waiters apre very Kindle and always ready to help you choosing and explaining all the plates. The rooms are well furnished very clean and what about the whirlpool bath...it was great to take a bath while it was too hot to stay at the beach. The staff is very Kindle and helpful. I was alone and they helped me to book excurtions and everything I was looking for. Whatelse can I say,... it was rally a pleasure to stay at Mimosa Resort and I surely recommend it to all my friends. Thanks to everybody expecially Danny who was very friendly to me. Laura
My girfriend and I stayed for 5 nights in this fantastic resort. We had a senior suit with our own whirlpool which was fantastic (eventhough it was leaking a bit of water). The rooms are spacious and provide all the necessities and even more (flip flops for the beach). The staff is carrying and give you a hand whenever you need one. Our dvd player was not working and so we called the reception and they replaced it immediately and stayed for a while to reassure that it worked properly (special thanks to danny the receptionist). The breakfast is sufficient with the fresh made eggs in different variations. Furthermore there is the possibility to rent scooters for 250 baht( it s a bit expensive in comparison to other places but the scooters are well maintained and you won t get scamed) The only downside were the expensive prices in the restaurant and the wifi signal in our room. all in all a big thank to the whole staff and to the chatty and friendly guy with the styled black hair who always smiled ( i forgot his name).
Myself and my wife stayed here last month, and yes for a special holiday as well, we had rain but it didn't stop us from doing anything, I cannot believe that someone else has requested a refund due to the weather, I think this says more about them rather than Mimosa, I thought us southerners were meant to be soft. They have said the staff were fantastic and with this I agree, Lin is great as helpful as you want and loves to learn even more English as he knows it can help him. I would not hesitate in returning here as the location is just right for visiting the various markets at Mae Nam, Bo Phut and Chaweng, its only a few Baht in a local pick up truck. My wife has already said thanks to Danny and the lovely staff on reception and I would like to add my support to them and not let others who leave idiotic reports upset them.
During our holiday to Koh Samui we were extremely unlucky with the weather. Upon arrival it was torrential rain and this continued for 2 solid days (and was forecast for another week!) As this was a special holiday for my partner and I we decided we would leave and go in search of some sun in Vietnam. My partner spoke to the Mimosa manager and unfortunately he was rather grumpy staying that a refund could not be given as they cannot control the weather and it was booked through Agoda. We understood that they couldn't control the weather but didn't appreciate his tone or understanding. Although the resort was beautiful, we did not want to sit inside for 5 days. As it was raining and we couldn't use the pool or sit by the beach and we wanted to explore the island. Unfortunately the hotels location was not ideal for this. It is perfectly ideal though if you are just wanting a lounging around holiday (which was our original plan and reason for picking this hotel). We contacted Agoda and explained all of this to them. Later on Mimosa came to speak to us and agreed to charge us for the night we'd stayed plus one more then refund us for the additional 3 days. We were really grateful that they'd agreed to do this. Thank you to the female manager for sorting this for us. When it was time to leave we asked the hotel to book a taxi for us. The hotel manager was really apologetic as she had booked the taxi for the wrong time. She rang for another 'taxi' straight away which had to be prepaid (600 Thai Baht, seemed expensive for a 20 minute journey). About 10 minutes later a lady turned up with a salon sticker on her car and took us to the airport. We thought this was quite sketchy and there was no taxi card in the car so it obviously wasn't an official taxi. The hotel itself: When we arrived at Mimosa we were greeted by members of staff who were warm and welcoming. Our bags were taken to our rooms and everything was explained to us (breakfast and cleaning procedure). The room was large and spacious with a bed raised on a concrete platform. We really liked this as we are into things that are a bit different. The room lead into a lovely big bathroom area with a double sink, spacious shower and places to hang clothes. The bath was in the outside court area which again we liked. Unfortunately we couldn't use this though due to the rain. The room did smell a little (of damp) but I think this was because it is mainly made of wood and natural materials. The pool was smaller than it looked on the website but still big enough to swim around and sunbathe by. The hotel bar area (where breakfast is also served) was lovey! We ate dinner there and it was the best Thai food we had all holiday! The basil chicken was the best we have ever tried. All the restaurant staff were wonderful making sure we had everything we needed and comfortable. A special mention to Lin who was fantastic! He was trying really hard with his English and was unnecessarily apologetic when he got words wrong. He was great with all costumers and entertained us when we were stuck in the bar for the day due to rain. Overall this hotel was everything we wanted it to be! Unfortunately for us the torrential rain ruined our holiday completely. I would definitely like to return to Koh Samui and Mimosa Hotel as the staff were supportive in our situation and helped us how they could.
The Mimosa was ideal for me as a single female traveller looking for a complete rest in quiet surroundings, with nothing to do, after a 'challenging' year. Mimosa Resort and Spa offers all this, so it was perfect for me in lots of ways. The staff in the beach cafe/restaurant are so very friendly, and do not simply serve your food, they do everything they can to help and ensure you are comfortable and happy. As I had a shoulder injury, I was so appreciative of someone always being around to move my lounger and put up my parasol. All I needed really! The resort is family run, quite compact and set in pretty botantical gardens, not many rooms have sea views unless you are on the top floor, otherwise you will probably be shaded by the greenery. The rooms are a little tired and in need of some refurbishment, but otherwise clean and well appointed, however this is somewhat preferable to some resorts where the rooms can be a little clinical and the staff are more impersonal. Take note that this resort is pretty remote, and the main road is about a kilometre away via a 'road' which is unmade and unlit in places and runs through a local village. The main road is very, very busy and not really for tourists, although the nearest shop is a 7/11, where you can buy toiletries, medicines, snacks and drinks. Also, if you are looking for watersports and other amenities, there are none here at all. You can easily take taxis, or the courtesy bus to other resorts/markets/make excursions etc. However, if you are looking for sheer uninterrupted peace on a (private) perfect soft sandy beach facing an azure crystal clear sea, then this is the place for you! There's a lovely pool too, which is great for families. Only one disappointing downside was as I was checking out. First, I was charged 80 THB for a tiny bottle of water (about £1.85!) from the 'fridge, which I had only opened as housekeeping had not replenished my 'two daily complimentary bottles' for 3 days, and there were no shops around to purchase one. I was happy to pay, but this price was extortionate. Secondly, I was horrified to be 'interrogated' about a 'missing hairdryer bag', and then sat for 20 minutes being openly discussed whilst suspicious stares from the Reception staff were directed at me. It was hugely embarrassing and I was pretty shocked, as I had no idea what they were referring to, but they kept the 'questioning' up relentlessly, until finally I was 'let off' by the Manager. I had been made to feel like a criminal in some surreal investigation which had nothing to do with me. Not nice. Not at all, especially as I'd just handed out 1,200 THB in tips to most of the staff, AND purchased 2 items listed for sale from the room! If the Mimosa can rectify this attitude to unsuspecting guests by the Reception staff and check its facts, then I would be very happy to return. It is in Paradise after all!
I still cannot believe I have just experienced the best holiday on earth at a dream location in 5* accomodation. Mimosa was amazing from start to finish. Sha Sha, Danny, Beer, Winnie, Lin, Max, Khin, Nai and the rest of the AMAZING Mimosa team were incredible. Nothing was too much, every possible thing was catered for that I certainly wouldn't stay anywhere else in Koh Sumui. The resort was impeccably clean and beautifully maintained and my partner and I felt incredibly welcome whether we were sitting in the restaurant, sipping the magnificent cocktails while taking in the magnificent view or just walking past the lobby, always greeted with a smile and a "Sawasdee Ka" hello. They had free shuttle buses twice a day into the main shopping districts and offered great tour guide services. The Spa House offered the best massages we have EVER had !! We can't wait to return to see our Mimosa Thai Friends. Perfect location ... away from the hustle and noise as it's right on the stunning beachfront, roomy and clean accomodation, fantastic restaurant and staff and happy hour deals, free transport into town, great pool and loungers and so much more to mention. Thank you Mimosa for making our dream holiday a reality. Michelle & Zena
We have been picked up from the samui airport by the hotel staff and had a warmly welcome at the resort. The staff is friendly and nice and speak also good English. The restaurant, where you have the breakfast also, is really nice and clean. The beach is small but nice and quite. The room is perfect with an outdoor shower. We booked the jacuzzi room deluxe and felt really good there. If you are looking for a nice and quite spot then this resort is a good choice. I would come again!
