I'd recommend this place because of good price/quality ratio. Check-in/check-out procedure is simple, without any additional fees or deposits. The hotel has awesome territory with palm trees, bushes, exotic flowers, birds etc. Very green and very clean. Beach is public (so sometimes it's crowded enough here) and equipped with special net against jellyfish. The only problem here is dogs from the hotel or cafe nearby, they steal stuff and defecate right on the beach! We've lived on the 2nd floor. Room was bright and tidy. Everything was on its place - TV, AC, little fridge, comfortable bed, everyday water replenishment and clean towels. Our room had a big balcony surrounded by trees with singing birds. Also from time to time be ready to be visited by funny little geckos. Unfortunately WiFi quality is low - it has no security (!) and therefore speed is very low and signal is too weak, especially on the beach. Breakfast is an opened buffet with good variety of toasts/croissants/muffins, differntly cooked eggs, very good natural yoghurt, drinks, fresh fruits and vegetables. I'd definetely recommend to have a breakfast here, moreover the cafe is almost right on the beach so the veiw is remarkable. Bar is slightly expensive if comparing to other places. Also be aware the hotel offers scooter rent - 200 Baht per day without any deposits which is very convenient for short trips. Overall service is rather high and the atmosphere is very friendly. You can ask for breakfast boxes if check-out is too early.
Our stay included 14 nights. Our first night we were ground floor next to the main walkway, which provided no privacy whatsoever. Our request to change rooms the next night was granted, so we stayed 13 nights in room 508. This is a wonderful room. King bed with great storage space + work area. In addition, it offered the privacy we were looking for, a balcony, and in the closest building to the beach/pool. The biggest complaint with the room was the noise from neighboring bars from about 10:00 to 15:30. The bass was WAY too loud that earplugs had to be used unfortunately. This is not the hotel's fault, though. The front desk wasn't unfriendly by any means, but not the most friendly either. We were pleased with their service. In addition, the maid staff were wonderful & friendly each time we saw them. Breakfast buffet was great. Really enjoyed the coffee machine & variety in the morning as well as the breakfast staff. And the BEACH!!! Wow absolutely amazing--we preferred Silver Beach a bit more, but I truly believe the beach here is the best area of Lamai Beach & felt good that the swim area is roped off for guests to enjoy. The pool might need some updating, but it was perfect for us. Lastly, the wifi REALLY was a letdown at this hotel. It was very spotty and slow when working, which proved to be quite a hassle for someone who works remotely. Overall, though, this mid-range hotel is no 5 star resort, but definitely a great location & hotel for the mid-range budget traveler.
The hotel is well located at lamai beach. Unfortunately the regular rooms are not charming neither comfortable. They are old and need a better furniture. Generally the hotel needs a refurbishment because the installations are quite damaged. Bead and Breakfast is okay for price.
Stayed here for just over 1 week. We stayed in the bungalow which is closer to the beach than the main building. It is more expensive but you have more privacy and a larger bathroom. The interior of the bungalow is quite simple, but sufficient. You get 4(!) water bottles every day. Breakfast good, at the time we were there (low season) you could choose eggs/rice from the menu, and partly buffet. Last nights it was a buffet with egg station etc. The location is right on the beach with swimming pool right near the beach and very close to the main street (but no noise at night). Plenty of sunbeds around the pool and beach. Would certainly recommend! The is a small daily night market close to the hotel and many, many restaurants.
Stayed there for 10 days this time, got the room We asked for and always stays in. Don't know how many times we stayed in wanta so far and we will return. The staff is friendly, the location is the best, the breakfast is ok, it's clean and we like it. Anyhow the swimming pool needs to be fixed, some of the rooms might need some new color or so but as long as Wanta is on Lamai we will keep on coming back!
We stayed a week at the Lamai Wanta Beach Resort when we visited Koh Samui 2 weeks ago. The location served us very well as it is right on the beach and is in the excellent location to walking into town. It's about a 2 minute walk to get to the Main Street and it is full of shops, bars and restaurants. Do yourself a favor and skip the sit down restaurants. Go straight to the food carts. The staff at Wanta was very helpful and informative as well. They gave us plenty of bottled water each day and we didn't have a single issue the whole week we were there. We stayed in a deluxe room on the 2nd door and it worked out perfect for us. We would definitely consider staying here again.
The stay here was a really lovely experience. The rooms were quaint and clean. The food at the Hotel's restaurant was fantastic, and so was the complimentary breakfast spread. Everything was generally inexpensive compared to other hotels in the area. The pool next to the beach was awesome and it was not much crowded. The only problem we faced was there was not room service option and you have to go all the way to reception if you need something. The local market was just 5 minutes walk down from hotel. Overall, a pleasant stay would definitely recommend to people who are looking for not very expensive options.
Nice hotel in the middle of Lamai Beach area. We had a back up stairs units so had a 100 metre walk to beach and pool. Our rooms were large and comfortable and I found them to be clean. Breakfast was adequate with a buffet and fresh cooked eggs. No restaurant or bar at night but really there are about a hundred within 5 minutes walk so I can see why they don't. Pool is small but fronts right onto beach so you have both to choose from.
Lanai Wanta feels rather clinical. The bungalows are bright with nice bathrooms and they are spacious, but lacking atmosphere. The front decks certainly aren't pretty enough to lounge around. In fact the whole place is rather charmless including reception staff who always seem a little disappointed to see you. The exception on staff is the older man who runs the cafe - he was lovely as are his cafe staff. The pool is too small and lacks any greenery or charm. In six days I only swam in the sea as the pool had so little ambience. However, upside is the lovely beach which is deep for swimming and patrolled by a funny and friendly set of dogs whose antics we enjoyed. The cafe also does good food and excellent cocktails but they close at 6pm. No problem though as plenty of other places along the beach. Note Black Pearl where the food and fresh seafood is terrific. Overall we would pay more and stay somewhere with more character next time. Perhaps this is to do with lamai as well. For us a quieter location would provide a more authentic Thai experience.
I've walked past the place for years but never stayed in their accommodation. We ended up staying at Wanta this vacation due to a misunderstanding with our normal accommodation. We had two basic rooms at the back of the resort. Rooms are small but comfortable, each room had a double bed, small wardrobe, desk, flat screen tv, mini bar, coffee facilities, safe and a futon. The rooms are cleaned every day without issue (sheets / towels etc) two bottle complimentary water are provided on a daily basis. The pool and beach are at the front of the property, the pool is small but acceptable taking into account you have the sea right in front of you. Plenty of sun beds. Restaurant breakfast is ok, the usual food stuffs with a few Asian dishes. Overall our stay was nice and relaxing, we ate a few times in the resort but found better eateries a short walk outside.
