It's the last night of our 6 day stay at The Intercontinental Samui Baan Taling and it will be hard to leave. Coming off a busy period at work and for the family generally, it took a couple of days to relax however, there's no better place to get you there pronto, than this fabulous hotel! This hotel's greatest assets are the wonderful staff, the incredible landscape and views as well as the very comfortable rooms. We chose a family room and it was ideal for our stay with bunk beds for the boys and a beautiful bath to relax in. I have to say, the beds are also very comfortable and made for a wonderful night's sleep every day. All the food and drinks are great, though they could look at expanding on the kids' menu and adding a bit more variety. Thank you Fongbeer, Nemo and everyone of the outstanding team members that we met during our stay. I consider it a great privilege to be able to enjoy a holiday on your beautiful island and be your guest at such a special place. I wish all of you every continued success and we look forward to coming back to see you again.
I would say that this place has the most amazing views I have seen in my short stay in koh samui. The view from the pool is surreal and the air bar is beautiful. They did also provide a lovely bottle of champagne for our honeymoon which was quite nice. The rooms are nice but expensive compared to other similar hotels in koh samui. As well there is absolutely nothing near here to do and it is quite expensive to get anywhere by taxi. Their shuttle downtown is 300 baht per person unless you're checking out then u cannot use that service and it is a whopping 2000 baht. A few things that would be helpful to clarify in their info is that there is no free yoga classes unless it rains despite what their info seems to indicate. They do include free bikes kayaks and paddle boards if that's your cup of tea. Also the pool happy hour from 5-6 should say beach pool happy hour as that is where it's at. Overall I would say it's worth a night here to take in the views but be ready to pay the same prices you would at a 5* in the USA for food etc.
We have decided at the last minute to visit Koh Samui and were fortunate to get booking into Intercontinental hotel for 9 days. We were staying at the two bedroom villa with club benefits. Totally enjoyed our stay the entire time. The view I must say is really spectacular. We could choose to have our cocktails and canapés at air bar or just stay on our private balcony in our room to view the sunset. All the staffs were very friendly and make you feel So welcome. I must specially compliment two butler Khun Ball and Khun Seen. They took such great care of us. There is really nothing bad to say about this resort. Looking forward to our next Intercontinental hotel experience.
Unbelievable! My husband and I had booked a once in a lifetime trip for our 21st anniversary with Intercontinental, wanting a 2 Bedroom Club Residence Villa for a family of 5. These rooms fit 6 people. We had searched online for weeks for the right deal at an affordable price. When we stumbled across the Intercontinental deal, the price for the duration of our trip in Koh Samui was 95,652 TBH which converts to £2200 roughly. So we had booked it on our credit card. However, when the confirmation page/email came literally seconds later, the price had increased drastically to 144,000 TBH. To make that even worse, when checking on our credit card statements, price had doubled and the hotel had booked for two rooms as opposed to one. Remember, the room we had booked fits 6 people maximum and we were a family of 5..... As well as that, we have a confirmation screenshot from the official website that we had booked one room AND ONE ROOM ONLY! Later, when we had called Intercontinental of this, at 13p a minute, after 20 minutes on the phone we had been told that a mistake had been made. They then had the audacity to tell us to call them back on the following day. We rang again only to be told that apparently we had made the mistake (even though we hadn't). After numerous calls, they had said they would cancel one of the rooms but still charge us the higher rate for the first room, and it would take 45 days to get a refund for one of the rooms. This accumulates to £3260. We are paying this price instead of the advertised price of £2200. This has taken us over our credit card limit, we are not getting our refund for another 45 days. We only put our card details in because we assumed this was a reputable, international company and we are struggling as a family of 5 prior to our trip. This is false advertising and daytime robbery. Taking advantage of those who invest their time and effort to booking a good family holiday. We are disappointed, stressed and more importantly out of pocket before we even go on this holiday. DO NOT BOOK ONLINE WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!
This hotel has one of the best views on Samui island. We loved our room with a huge bathtub and panoramic sea view. All of the lobby staff and especially our butler were very friendly and helpful. The two restaurants were quite disappointing as a five star hotel. Everything else was fantastic and we really enjoyed staying there until we saw a terrible thing around the pool. The first 2 days, it was raining. the 3rd day we swam in the beachside pool. I noticed the towel I picked up had some wet spots. I thought maybe it's my imagination so I tried to forget about that. The 4th day we tried the infinity pool. There were only a few couples. After a while, surprisingly l saw two of the staff using the same towels again after a couple left. I didn't want to believe my eyes and couldn't stop observing them after that. I saw other 2 couples leave and they did exactly same thing. They took a look at the used towels and if they are totally wet, they took them out but if they were not they rolled them back up and used them again!! I asked my husband to observe them after he came back from taking a walk. So it's not only me saying but both of us saw that. He also mentioned that he also felt weird when he used a towel with some wet spots the day before. I couldn't stop worrying about dirty towels even in our room after that. At first we didn't want to post this on Tripadvisor because everything else was fine. We tried to talk to the manager before checking out but we couldn't catch her. So I wrote an email to her and she replied to me quickly. We were very disappointed with her typical template message. We thought that was really a serious problem for the hotel and we wanted to know how they solved the problem instead of reading the stereotype hotel's message. Generally speaking, most of the staff around hotel lobby in Thailand are fine but pool and restaurant staff are not. I think training staff around pools and restaurants is more important because the guests see them more often. We really hope they re-train the staff seriously as professionals.
Having travelled around the majority of Thailand for 12 days, my partner and I had planned 5 days in Koh Samui to unwind and relax. Unfortunately, we made the wrong decision and initially booked 5 nights in the Melati which was a complete mistake and waste of money! We ended up losing money to the Melati hotel by stupidly not choosing a booking that came with a refund, but moved to the Intercontinental for 4 nights which was the best decision we could have made! We were delighted by the level of service from the transfer to every member of staff we were in contact with. Such pleasant, welcoming people. The ocean views from the lobby are amazing, if you manage to catch the sunset from the Air bar it is unforgettable! Luckily we were able to see the sun setting twice in our 4 night stay. We will definitely be returning to this 5* hotel and we would like to thank all the staff, especially Steve for making our stay one to remember!
This was the first stop on our honeymoon, and we could NOT have picked a better spot. Breathtaking views, outstanding service, and top amenities. We loved the food (and we are NYC foodies), were obsessed with the gym, and were constantly being asked to come for free afternoon tea, free cocktail hour, etc. And, our personal butler Seen was more than on top of everything, booking our ferry tickets to Koh Tao for us, and even making sure our next hotel was ready to pick us up from the Ferry port. Only complaint is that two small bags of laundry was over 5K baht. If you are considering this hotel, do it. It is incredible.
The hotel and rooms are great. The buffet breakfast is excellent and quality food although a touch limited in choice compared to other 5* hotels, however quality is definitely better! Fresh juice fresh coconut juice which other 5* make you pay for. Coffee is excellent and coffee on this island is generally poor. Hotel is out of the way so you will need a scooter to get about. This might be an issue if you have young kids. You can rent one across the road for 40bhat a day and no-one cares about a licence. Its a 10min walk to the nearest shop. Beach is ok but there are far better around but as I say a scooter will get you to nearby Lamai beach in 10mins. They have a 50m or so swimming pool and small gym to help you work off the cals from the breakfast :) the rooms are spotless, spacious and bed is enormous Its ideal if you want to stay in a very quiet location. Looking at the hotels in the Chaweng and Lamai and how much hussle and bustle there is around the area, I'm please I stayed in a much quieter spot. Would go again
Amazing view. Perfect location for sunset. The staff very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay in this hotel. Perfect for honeymooners or for relaxation. The rooms are in good size and the view from the room is beautiful
I stayed 3 nights for a family vacation. being here for the 1st time i did not know quite what to expect but felt reassured that its Intercontinental property. The experience was way beyond expectations. A spectacular view of the ocean and a expansive lobby aa place to relax and unwind. The oom which was upgraded due to ambassador status was something beyond compare. An extra bed did not take away from the large space which is badly needed when with family. Superb dining experience. I had the most amazing expereince at th Air bar viewing the suset. I do have to say that my stay was made extraordinary by the staff and especially the Guest relations Manager Fongbeer. She was like a personal assistant during the entire 3 days. From arranging change in my ticketing on Thai airways to Bangkok, to arranging the ferry to Koh Phangan, talking to the hotel in Phangan, local trip all she handled personally without giving to her assistant. All with a smile and never a fuss. She is a great asset to the Hotel and i am sure she will contribute towards Guest satisfaction as i could see her busy with other Guests as she was with me and my family. I will surely be back one day
