We stayed at the villas for 7 nights as part of our honeymoon. We arrived at the hotel around 11am and were greeted by a member of staff who gave us a drink and a cool face towel, we were then told our room wouldn't be ready until 2pm to check in. Standard practice. So we had some lunch at the cafe and went back to be checked in a little later. The room itself was nice, half of the resort is older infrastructure which needs some updating and the other is more modern. We were in the older part as we had a "spa villa" (more on that later). The room - the bed was large and comfortable, the hotel even has a "pillow menu" Incase you require firm or soft pillows during your stay. The fixtures were average - a t.v mounted to the wall and a free view box / DVD player too. We weren't really thee to watch TV so not an important point, although if you have someone who likes to spend a bit longer in the room you can bring some DVDs along! They have a mini fridge stocked with the usual stuff available to purchase. A nice touch from the hotel are the 2 bottles of water provided in the room daily which you can stick in the fridge for later. The air-con was fine when it worked, however we did have to call someone out 4/5 times in the 7 days to fix it. It kept breaking during the night which was annoying as it got hot and uncomfortable but it was usually fixed promptly. The bathrooms were spacious and nicely decorated. The shower heads were rusty and the water did have a funny smell. Again no big deal. The room was right next to a main access road where there was apparently some work going on. This meant loads of noise and the workers could see right into our decking from where they were which made it slightly uncomfortable for us. The bathrooms have 2 windows by the shower for a "nature" effect. Yo can't see in it out these but you can hear the people who walk by on the path outside as if they were in there with you. Takes some getting used to! We had a "deluxe spa villa" as it was our honeymoon and thought it sounded great. Honestly, I wouldn't spend the extra money. We had a hot tub on the decking (see pictures) which we used once as a bit of a novelty and that was it. It's made of rough stone so uncomfortable to sit in and in all honesty it's just not that great. We didn't get a chance to look at the pool villas but I'd imagine they would be more useful! The rooms were clean and comfortable so overall not bad! The resort itself is on a hill side so I can't emphasise enough - if you have mobility issues or struggle with stairs - DO NOT GO HERE!! There are loads of stairs that you must go up or down to get anywhere. We were in the middle between the beach/restaurant and the reception. I'd say there were maybe 30-50 steps to go up/down either way. The beach was nice, usually clean and not too crowded. It has plenty of loungers and some hammocks strung between palm trees. There are some rocks in the shallows and the entire beach sits in a reef about 150-200M off the beach. This wasn't really an issue but if you like deep sea diving etc you won't find it here. The restaurant was average and overpriced. On overage we paid anywhere between 12-1600 TBH for a meal and drinks - around £35. When we went into Lamai we had the same for about 1/2 the cost. The food is ok but not anything to write home about, there are much better places to be found if you go looking. Other bits - the hotel runs a cheap shuttle into the local towns of Lamai and Chaweng 4 or 5 times a day. This is great and so much easier that taxis if you want to get out and about. Bear bonanza is a scheme run by the hotel where you deposit an amount "X", and are rewarded with upto 100% deposit matched by the hotel to spend on the cafe or spa (can not be used for tips, room service etc etc). We deposited 10000 and received 5000 from the hotel, 15000 total to spend. This is useful if you plan on eating at the hotel anyway however the prices at the hotel clearly reflect this scheme so they are not losing out. The hotel isolated and on the top of a steep hill so you are not able to walk anywhere (shops local markets etc). There is 2 restaurants at the bottom of the steep hill that you could walk to hut again anyone with mobility issues will struggle. Service - service was great. All staff were polite and friendly, did their jobs well and usually had a smile on there face - couldn't fault them. Overall probably a 3.5 out of 5, would recommend just manage your expectations.
Stayed at Centara villas for 13 nights for our honeymoon. Breakfast- we paid over 9000 bhat for breakfast as it was ok on the first day. The the Service rapidly went down hill. We stopped going for breakfast after 6 days until our last day. There was no one to sever tea or coffee luckily there was a kettle in our room. Generally tables weren’t cleared they had ran out of simple things such and bread for toast. Hotel food- the hotel food was ok not great. The service was better than breakfast but the service was still poor. The pools are quite nice but need a good clean and updating. The maids done a good job of keeping the rooms clean. There was an incentive not to have you room cleaned and receive 150 bhat. We participated in this in 3-4 days but did not receive anything. Taxi service - the hotel offer a shuttle bus service which is good. You do have to book early as this can fill up. Room 204- the air conditioning leaked black water throughout our stay. The engineer came to fix it but this did not make any difference. The pool was filthy we reported this not reception and they send someone out who added some chemicals. This did work in turning the water blue again but did not get rid of the filth from around the pool. Again we stopped using this as it was marking our swimwear with orange patches. The hotel must have an excellent photographer for advertising as the room did not look like the photographs we seen on booking. Beware when using the hotel phone. I tried to ring a local number to confirm pick our pickup time to the airport. I was charge 250 bhat and the line was so poor I still never got a connection yet. There was a lovely English girl on reception who was very helpful. She booked us into local restaurants and arranged taxis. The spa however was excellent if only I could do a separate review for this.
Welcome to paradise, this is a amazing little gem, stayed here 10 nights and all I can say it is amazing, away from the hustle and bustle, this is a place to just forget life and relax.....the Staff to many to mention from the cleaners to bar staff and reception were amazing, the Villa we had was spotless and they encourage you to be green get rewards for not changing your towels everyday what a great idea, I come to the conclusion they have a army of secret ninjas, because water and toilet roll just appear on the table outside, never hear anyone it just appears....3 pools all clean and so is the private beach :) and the spa is a must treat, amazing :) The negatives I am afraid to say was the food and drinks were expensive, like nearly 300 baht that is £7 pound for coffee and coke, . and you could be paying over 1000 baht for lunch that is very expensive, I also found a lot of the food not high standard for the standard of the hotel which is a shame, but on the positive note there is the cool bar on the beach a must visit just short stroll over the rocks, and if you go down the hill some fantastic little restaurant's, take your torch as it does get very dark we loved the Barracuda great homemade food and cheap, there is the fishermans and coco's there is also amazing little bar on that road next to the Barracuda.
Loved it ! Left here this morning after a 10 night stay, now writing this from Centara Grand in Hua Hin ! Stayed in a sea view pool villa & it was heaven. Initially placed in a villa with a building site beside it, which, as we arrived in darkness didn't notice until the following morning. However, after a quick talk to reception, this was quickly resolved & we were moved to a quieter refurbished room. Couldn't fault a thing with it, spotlessly cleaned everyday, (big shout out to the cleaner of room 138) & perfect position. Didn't eat here, other than breakfast, as when we come to Thailand we prefer the local restaurant's, so cant comment on other meals. Bar service was always friendly & with a smile. Used the cheap shuttle bus into Lamai & Chawang on a couple of occasions which again is a good service if you want a change from the local restaurant's down the road. Please look out for the hotel dog ( she actually belongs to somebody down the road) who spends so much time here. We fell in love with her, she followed us from pillar to post, we did bring some dog chews from home mind you ! From coming to the local restaurant's with us, hiding under the table whilst we ate, walking us back to the Cool Bar on the beach, then on back to our room to make sure we got back safe, she was such great company, we miss her sooo much already. Give her a belly rub from us, she loves it ! Overall a great holiday, & hope to be back for a 3rd visit sometime.
Having stayed here from 27th October for a week. I thought I would write a review. Firstly the hotel was stunning there is a great deal of stairs but don't let that put you off. There are 3 swimming pools on 3 different levels. The hotel was only a 3rd full whist we were there so there was plenty of sun loungers spare. The beach area was also stunning this hotel to me was perfect. The only thing I would change is the prices of drinks and food should include vat and service tax as that adds a lot onto your bill each time you buy something.
I am loosing count on our visits to Centara Villas but I think this was our 6th, In a way that says it all really! We love this place. There are certainly some aspects you have to keep in mind when booking her.. * Location - It is not in the centre of Cheweng or Lamai etc in fact there isn't a lot around BUT this suits us, there is a shuttle bus you can use which is cheap and there are a few nice places to eat local. The centara food is very very good so you don't have to go out either. * It is steep and there are lots of steps like you will see people say on reviews BUT once again this kept us fit and worked our drink and food off. Also at the villas they are very good and if you have any mobility issues they will place you in a villa that has the least walking etc. The staff are amazing and make you feel so very welcome - I cant name a few as they are all fantastic. As previously mentioned the food I always very good! A la Carte and Buffet. Local Shuttle bus which is very cheap and also you can hire cars and peds so easy to get about. 3 pools and beach area so plenty of chilling space We cant wait to return to our home from home
We stayed in a quiet villa (301) with a stone Jacuzzi. The villa was cleaned every day unless we wanted to be environmentally friendly and for which the hotel rewarded us with a 150 baht token, a nice touch. The Jacuzzi was cleaned most days, restaurant was great quality and to be honest I preferred to eat there than most other local restaurants. The Baht Bonanza deal is good value but it's good to see some external life also. If you stay at the hotel you miss the opportunity to visit and eat in Chaweng and Lamai, where the food is also really good and a lot cheaper. The hotel shuttle bus is by far the best way to travel to these destinations as the local taxi drivers have taken to covering their meters and under the pretense of bartering make a killing. The hotel beach and facilities are very relaxing and quiet, the pool needs updating which is in hand. Not a lot to do locally. We did walk to the local fisherman's restaurant in the evening (go via the beach, turn left) but preferred to see some life at least in Lamai. The sister hotel is well worth spending a day at, shuttle bus again! The staff are excellent but I must say I thought drinks were expensive, not just at the hotel but generally, £24.00 for an average bottle of wine, £5.00 an average cocktail (no alcohol)...the staff did push happy hour and drinks but with 10% service charge on all drink and food bills you can see why..... not as cheap as it is portrayed but quiet, very relaxing and great service, genuinely nice people.
Centra villas is a fantastic place to totally chill out for a few weeks me and my wife Alii went the first time in Thailand and weren’t disappointed . All the staff were great and very helpful bunni , goonz mama Weiwee dolphin pu joe palm chi chi zammy to name but a few the hotel Dog 🐕 called cheetah was great too we went all inclusive when we got their because we decided it was best for us .
We stayed here in an oceanview deluxe pool villa which was well worth it. Staff are very helpful and rooms are kept clean. They will arrange trips, taxis and even booked a restaurant for us (Shirley is fantastic). They run a shuttle for a small fee to other areas. This is out of the way so more suited to couples and those not wanting to party. Has a private beach and 2 pools, bars and restaurant. It has a lot of stairs to get anywhere around the hotel so those with problems getting around beware. Baht bonanza is great.
This is a lovely place to stay, our Villa was beautiful & clean. The pool areas are all lovely too. Private beach area was gorgeous. Shuttle bus service was very cheap to use & very handy too. You are a little while away from everything but to be honest we liked that aspect. All staff we met were lovely & very welcoming. The only downside was the food. The breakfast was actually really good and there was a lot of variety. Unfortunately the evening meals were not as good. The 3 times we ate there were not good at all, ended up giving up & getting the shuttle bus each night to go out to eat instead. Even with this I would stay there again but would just eat out at night instead.
