we booked a 2 bedroom family suite with private pool was really looking forward to it but when we got there the living room with the 2 beds for our children aged 5 and 8 were in a separate building to us - we had a front door then the door from their room went onto a garden area where they had to cross decking and up steps and into our room if they carried on walking they would come to the private pool so if they had gone wandering in the night they may of fallen in the pool if they had got disorientated therefore the whole holiday was spent bed hopping to ensure an adult was with them at all times. the garden was not secure either - I thought it was initially but a cleaner disappeared from our garden once without going through the only exit I thought there was so there was obviously a different/secret way into our area which assured me we had made the right decision to stay with our children. the food was very expensive £50 for a family of 4 lunch - we went to lamai every day at least once to get evening meal and walked down the hill to a restaurant to have lunch approx. £25 for a family of lunch - not too bad but compare it with street food in lamai which was amazing £12 for a feast we did spend more than we expected or if we were in another area of koh samui. we did do a trip the elephant roof top safari which was amazing - id defo do that again. I would go back to koh samui but not stay at this hotel - it was lovely and relaxing but just too expensive £4 per ice cream that was hardly frozen, £7 per cocktail.
Great hotel friendly stuff. Stayed 2 weeks here. Rooms were cleaned daily Food a bit expensive but lot of restaurants and shops nearby. We tried big coco once and fishermen outlet the rest of our stay. Travel agent and car/scooter renting is also available just down the road .Strongly recommended!!!!!
If you want somewhere to relax and unwind this is the place. It's the perfect setting on the beach the only noisy neibours are the crickets. The staff are friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Take advantage of the "Baht Bonanza" the hotel will give you money to spend in the hotel when you put a certain amount on your room, we put 10.000 baht and the hotel gave us an extra 5.000 baht on top. The food is good at the hotel, there are also 3 other restaurants and a bar 5 minute walk down the beach to the left of the hotel, The Cool Bar is on the beach and is a great place to have a drink watch the stars. The restaurant we found the best was the Fishermans cheap and good quality fresh seafood. So a big thanks to Tim and all his staff for making this a memorable holiday will see you next year.
Rooms were very shabby never got towel change for 5 days till we asked, the pool area and breakfast were great and staff were helpful , we were told it was free shuttle service had to pay , bit out of the way a few little restaurants nearby which were good
Ok, so where do I start!? My partner and I have visited Thailand on 3 previous occasions and loved it and have stayed at The Centara Grand in Krabi before so had some level of expectation about the The Centara Villas in Samui. My family consisting of 14 adults and 3 kids decided to stay at Centara Villas for 10 days because it looked kid friendly and photos looked nice. 1: Service: Atrocious! We checked into the hotel around 9pm and the lady at reception didn't know what was going on and asked me what my booking numbers were? After I had already emailed all that information 2 nights prior to my arrival and having booked the holiday over 6 months prior. After hanging out at reception for an hour, I then asked what our rooms number were as we were getting tired and she proceeded to give me and signal to some papers on her desk. I had to figure out myself where all the members of my family were staying and she showed a map. I asked if there was someone that could show us to our rooms having never stayed there before but she said there were not enough staff. I had to walk my family members and we were all trying to figure out where we were staying in the dark where there are hundreds of stairs (I'm not exaggerating!) and not adequate enough lighting. - I then asked if we could get our bags brought into our rooms , but again , there were not enough staff and so we ended dragging our own bags in the dark...down the stairs. 2. The hotel layout: deceiving on website! My grandma and disabled aunt were on our trip and had they advertised that you literally need to go down around 100 steps to go down to pool, breakfast and then again to lobby ; we would have definitely not stayed here. There are no lifts and not even wheelchair access. 3. Drinks at Reef Bar We were at the beach ordering cocktails for a large group when we felt that the drinks coming from the bar were all just tasting like juice and couldn't taste any alcohol so we decided to go back to bar and actually watch them make the drinks .... and what a difference that made. All of the sudden you could taste the alcohol in the drinks. Very deceiving. 4. Room 212: throughout the day on and off smelt like sewerage. Also, when the shower was turned on, the water that drained went straight to the dirt - there was no piping. This was also noticed on my other family members room 321. 5. Prices in hotel: it's ridiculous. I understand there is a markup when eating inside hotels but these guys are just next level. It is actually cheaper to eat Thai food in Sydney then it is in this hotel. 6. Room service: Ordered a hawaiian pizza only to get a tomato and cheese pizza, it was missing the ham and pineapple and to top it off .... it was cold. 7. Very hard to get help from staff as most have very limited English. 8. Cleaning Room service - this was good , job nicely done. 9. Spa Cenvaree - this was great. The only good thing about this hotel. Staff Yao at spa very friendly and lovely. 10. Buffett breakfast - was average. Not enough variety. Definitely have had better ones in Thailand for same/similar price hotels. Breakfast area feels run down and it needs more fans....as it is HOT in there. 11. Child's playground was out of order during our stay. 12. It rained one night and that night the power throughout the hotel kept going on and off. Overall , we were all pretty disappointed. Definitely not recommendable as you can find better places in Samui for the same price. Not planning on staying at any Centara resorts again due to major dissatisfaction.
This is second visit after an absence of 3 years and could not fault the service from every member of staff and the Villa's are still 1st Class and cleaned every day unless you go green and get a credit of 150 Barts the next day. We did the 10,000 Barts Bonanza which gets topped up to 15,000 to spend on food and drink. The food in restaurant is faultless but if you need change of scene then walk down hill to the Fishermans Restaurant which is still very good and half the price. So it's a Big Thank You for our 11 night stay and hope to return in the near future.
Our villa was clean and beautiful, pools are comfortable and clean, restaurant was passable but overpriced. Location is off from anything, that's why the restaurant is overpriced. Shuttles were not free and you have to book. I left my iPod by the pool and someone took it, they didn't even try to help finding it. Service could be better.
We stayed here for 6 nights and our experience was average. The property is beautifully laid out but the service levels are average. The most dissatisfying aspect of our experience was morning breakfast. It seems their break fast covered section was under maintenance and guests were made to sit under plastic roofs, otherwise open. It would get extremely hot there and for the convenience of guests there was one standing fan for all the tables which too had no rotatory movement. The only respite was when you would sit on a table directly next to that fan. There was no care or concern shown by the staff there to change the direction of that fan in case other guests sitting on other tables had no access to it. One fan, with no rotatory movement was expected to suffice for all the tables. The salad section was poorly maintained, and on more than one occasion i had spotted ants freely walking over the salad items and the salad section. Once again i saw no concern from the staff to maintain this basic hygiene. Rooms were neat and cleaned well, but the room service was always a challenge. I do understand because of the layout of the resort it must be tough to move around, but even to place an order was a challenge. Firstly they will never understand because of poor english language skills, but even after that they will take exceptional amount of time to deliver. The funniest was when once our main dinner billed was signed off by my 10 year nephew who had only gone to the pool bar to fetch an ice cream. We adults were waiting on our table for the bill to arrive and on asking was later told "the bill has been signed by the little boy" !! How can they allow and accept a bill signed by a 10 yr old ? They later got it signed by us and duly apologized but it really shows the attitude of the staff to not care for details. On the whole i was disappointed with the services but the property is nice. I am sure the management cares and wants to deliver but the staff needs better training.
From the moment we arrived to leaving everything was perfect. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The food at the Reef is consistently lovely and they have a wide range of drinks/cocktails. Be aware of the 17% charge on top of everything in the hotel for Government tax and service charge though which bumps up the bill! We did the 10,000 Bhat bonanza and really did not hold back on food and drink in the hotel. We ended up with an additional 1200 Bhat bill at the end which we were really surprised with as thought it would be a lot more! Well worth doing. Make sure you visit the local bars/restaurants which are considerably cheaper than the hotel. Especially the Fishermans Outlet just down the road (walk along the beach to avoid the killer hill!) We hired a scooter from the Hotel which was 300 Bhat per day. If you can be bothered to get the shuttle into Lamai (50 bhat per person) or Chaweng (100 bhat per person) you can get much cheaper scooter hire (150-200 bhat per day). Be aware also that any scooter hire or shuttle transport from the hotel is extra to the bhat bonanza and you will have a bill at the end. We had a jacuzzi villa. It was spotless and cleaned daily. There is also good air conditioning in the villas which we found to be a godsend! The mini bar in the room is also well stocked (lager and soft drinks) at a reasonable price so don't be afraid to use it! The hotel is set on a hillside with lots of steps. Pretty hard going in the heat. Definitely not the place for anyone who would have difficulty with steps / pushchairs etc. Good to walk off excess in the bar/restaurant though! There are 3 pools and a private beach. All spotless and well maintained. There were no issues with getting sun loungers however we were there 'off peak' so it may be a bit more difficult in busy times. Overall this holiday was perfect. We would definitely re visit if ever back in Koh Samui. Absolutely fantastic place! 100% recommended for a romantic and relaxing couples break.
Lovely staff and friendly Unfortunately thats where it ends Atmosphere was non existent All the drinks came in the same glass Advertising aussie beef. Have never seen it so bastardised in my life. Eye fillet at 40 dollars a plate that i could have used as a car tyre so tough and chewy. The chef needs to ensure that his staff are trained so the quality and consistency remain the same. Felt like i was in kill bill sequel with all the stairs. Would not for older people traveling
