Anantara Lawana Koh Samui Resort5.0 out of 5.0

Anantara Lawana is certainly a 4-5 star resort. The rooms are fantastic, with beds that are so comfy you won't want to get up. The bathrooms are huge with good facilities including a separate bathtub, cosy robes, slippers and good toiletries. Our room (the entry-level room) had a covered balcony/terrace with a large daybed and seemed recently redecorated. The turndown service is lovely and next day weather forecasts are left on the bed each evening. The resort itself is bigger than we had expected with a lot of families staying there. During the day the pool is very busy and it wasn't always easy to find a sunbed. This was the main downside for us, we had some noisy families that stayed in the room next door and people passing our room during the night made a lot of noise. Meals at the resort were good - breakfast was included for us and we enjoyed the variety and quality of food. It does get busy though and some tables are nicer than others so I recommend to eat earlier rather an later. Throughout the day, snacks are available from the restaurant, bar and by the pool and beach - the menu is good - though quite expensive. For me, the best thing about Anatara Lawana is the Tree Tops restaurant - I can't praise the staff, food and experience enough. If you stay here then you MUST eat here. Simply one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. We also had a private dinner on the beach (Dining by design). This was also a lovely experience with a very attentive waiter but the food itself is from the restaurant by the beach which after having dined at TreeTops, wasn't nearly as good (despite being similarly priced). I would definitely recommend Treetops over this experience. The location of the resort is about a 15-20 minute walk to Chaweng. We didn't like doing the walk at night time as the pathways are non-existent in some places and the cars and motorbikes take blind corners very fast. Taxi's are readily available and all of the drivers know where the hotel is. Anatara has the luxury of both a pool and a beach. The pool was often too crowded to swim in so I preferred the sea. The staff provide a food and drinks service to the pool and beach which is very good - the sunbeds have a little buzzer so that you can call for service. Overall I would recommend Anantara Lawana for families rather than for couples as it is quite busy and noisy. The resort itself is luxurious with great staff and facilities and is a good choice for a luxurious family trip.
This resort was our last stop on our tour of Thailand, and we loved every minute of it! The staff were all so welcoming upon our arrival, and Sonny was quick to recommend a great restaurant for us since we had been traveling all day and were exhausted. Our room with private plunge pool was amazing with an incredible ocean view - very luxurious with its marble floors and modern decor. The room comes with a well-stocked mini bar, coffee/tea station, welcome fruit basket, comfortable bed and pillows (with a pillow menu!), and very large bathroom with 2 showers! The outdoor area was also beautiful with a large couch, lounge chairs, and an oversize plunge pool, all obscured for privacy. The beach and service there was excellent and complete with wireless push-button call service at each pair of beach chairs. The drink and food menu on the beach is extensive, and the staff walks around periodically handing out cool treats such as popsicles. The beach here is pristine, and it's also a great spot to watch the fisherman come and go. The buffet breakfast is extensive with its selection of juices, fruits, and cold and hot foods from all over the world - we appreciated the refrigerated room with automatic doors where they keep the yogurt, milk, and other items that are best when they are served cold! We also enjoyed the spa at this resort - the staff are kind, professional, and our masseuses were excellent! The Tree Tops restaurant is also divine (see separate review). If I had to choose one place in Thailand for a return trip, this would be it, and they are currently closed for renovations so I'm sure it will be even more spectacular when it re-opens! A big thank you to everyone there for an amazing end to our vacation!!
My mother and I spent 10 days in Thailand and we specifically flew into Koh Samui for 24 hours just to visit this resort and try the Coconut Obsession massage, body scrub and facial. It did not disappoint, We walked away feeling rejuvenated and absolutely incredible. My skin was glowing. On top of that, the staff were incredibly friendly. The Villa we stayed at that evening was gorgeous. We had the option of both an indoor and outdoor shower. We had our own private swimming pool and it was honestly a great getaway from all of the hustle and bustle from the cities. We absolutely loved it and I can't wait to come back one day.
We stayed for 7 nights in September and what a great location, staff were so friendly and food was amazing. Accommodation was fantastic room were great size was more than adequate and plunge pool tops it off.
Staff so friendly especially Sonny - everyone so helpful. We had the plunge pool room. It was amazing! so great to have you own space to relax in the water. Location is just at the end of the main strip so not too far but far enough - not really close enough to walk at night. We got a mo ped for looking around, i would recommend letting the hotel sort it for you and its very cheap! Close launderette and shop. Thanks so much! great stay!
Been there 4 years ago and nothing has been done to improve/upkeep. Pool area is lovely. Beach is bad. Very shallow and uninviting. Small rooms with nowhere to put luggage. Lighting is terrible. Outside bathroom is quaint but not good when you need to put on make up or shave as you get to hot and need another shower. Personal pool is great and private.
room with plunge pool, the concept of the room and plunge pool was nice, however the water was just too cold and maybe the size of the bedroom area was small because we had a pool The room is at the top of a steep hill and the walk is quite challenging, when returning from the beach or restaurant. The resort, gardens etc are beautiful, service is good and its a 5 minute taxi ride into town
Great location, quiet but 15 to 20 min stroll to busy chaweng beach and all it has to offer. We stayed in a beach bungalow with plunge pool. It was fabulous. Definitely worth upgrading. Staff were very polite and courteous. Always a smile and warm greeting. Food and drink overpriced at hotel but I guess that is often the case. Good quality though. But as I said lots of cheaper restaurants and bars along beach or road in front. Fishermans villiage definitely worth a visit ( baht 300 in cab) We had one very wet afternoon and decided to watch a DVD from library. Unwatchable bootleg copy. We tried another and same.. so not worth
Top Notch! Frankly!! Overall top quality of the facilities, of all the services and of the staff. Very smooth experience since one checks in until the check out: one of those hotels where everything runs smooth & easy, and always very pleasantly.
Wonderful birthday weekend for my wife. Everything was first rate. Room, facilities, food, beachfront, etc Happy Hour was an unexpected bonus. Paddle boarding, kayaking, hiking the beach, fitness room, Et Al
