Nice clean hotel in a good location close to pedestrian street. Good spot if you are a keen walker to get up and walk along the river and sight see. Hotel has all the modern amenities and food here is good with a mixture of Chinese and western. Worth a stay.
Had a nice time in this city in China & even swam the river. A surprising large choice of commericial establishments, such as stores & restaurants in easy walking distance. The pedestrian walkway nearby with numerous kiosks & cart stands makes for fun shopping. I thought I was gonna get stuck on an early checkout issue (I advised them a week in advance) but they eventually cleared it up & didn't overcharge me.
This hotel is located in an area of restaurants and markets. The walk along the river is just across the road. The night lights of the city are spectacular from the room. The buffet breakfast included Western and Chinese cuisine and was open early.
I don't understand the negative reviews. The corridors look out onto a huge open space where there was a wedding dinner the day we arrived. Breakfast is served on the second floor above this open area and the buffet has both variety and quality. I found the staff to be quite pleasant. Our first room had a leak above the bathroom and the staff immediately changed us to another, equally well-appointed room around the corner. The hotel is in front of the Li River and a short distance from stores and restaurants--well worth a walk in the evening. Overall, we had a good stay here.
They told us that this was the best hotel in Guilin...I would hate to see the worst. The carpet in our room looked like the whole terracotta army marched through it. So happy that it was just for one night.
We paid a fair bit for a Club Room upgrade when we booked. This gave us a nice enough room, but the club facilities were very poor. It's was not open for breakfast the first two mornings so we had to queue at the over worked cafe. The food at happy hour was cold and ordinary, and the staff were surley. To top if off, the free wifi was so slow that it was unusable. Simple requests, Iike getting directions using Maps timed out all the time. If you were hoping to do business here, forget it. The location next to the main eating area is good, but that's about all
Stayed here 1 night and was very underwhelmed. The reception area is nice but the rooms and corridors are shabby and it looks like a budget hotel - i.e. vienna hotels. We paid around $75USD not inc breakfast which is a lot for China. Wouldn’t recommend unless you feel comforted by a familiar name.
This is a lovely hotel with a large marble lobby that contained a bar area with live entertainment. The breakfast was wonderful and had everything from omelettes, to congee, to other unusual offerings. The rooms were very nice, but the bed is hard. The hotel is right near the riverfront, a shopping area, and a boat cruise -- all withing walking distance.
This hotel is in desperate need of a renovation. The rooms have the decor and smell of a second rate bed and breakfast. I asked for a non smoking room and it was clear that the room they gave me had been smoked in for years. The corridors are dark and dingy and the carpet is badly stained. Given the great location of this hotel, it is a crime that this property is so uncared for. I can only assume that the owners are too mean to invest in it. As for the Club Lounge, it takes the award for the being the worst I have ever been in to with a happy hour from 1600-1800...go figure! Who ever gets back from a days work i time for that?...not that you’d want to as the food was virtually all finished at 1730 and what was left was a disgrace. Normally even if the hotel is poor I find something good to say about the staff but sadly they seemed to be a bad as the hotel. This hotel falls well short of what I have come to expect from Sheraton (even in China) and I think someone should come over from global HQ and take this embarrassment of a hotel off the Starwood map.
The hotel location is central to everything. The room we were given was updated on the 6 floor . The buffet breakfast was okay. The club lounge was dated with a very poor selection of food and better get there early since its not refreshed The star was Ola at the front desk. She was smart, could answer all your questions and when others said sorry we don't have tourist maps she said no we do and I will get one for you. Her colleagues really rely on her and called her on her day off to ask questions. The rest of the front desk staff need more training. They were some of the worst front desk people I have encountered but they were polite.
