Great room and facilities. Helpful friendly staff made for an easy stay. All the best attractions are within walking distance to this perfectly located hotel. There's a tour desk available to organise trips to all the other local attractions. We enjoyed our stay.
Even though the building and rooms look dated, this is one of the hotels to stay in Guilin as surrounding it are a great number of tourist attractions like Li River, Elephant Hill, Sun and Moon Twin Pagoda, East West Lane, Seven Stars Scenic Area etc, and not more than 500 meters away you can board the river cruise to Yangshuo County and admire the beautiful karst landscape along the journey.
We stayed at this hotel due to its central location near the pedestrian street, river, and Sun + Moon Pagodas. The room was spacious and clean, and the bedding was fine -even the roll-out sofa bed was fairly comfortable. This is a very large and impersonal hotel that is popular with foreign and domestic tour groups, so the lobby gets pretty chaotic at check-in and check-out times (especially in the morning since a lot of the groups assemble in the lobby before heading out for their river cruise). The reception staff was friendly enough but not overly welcoming. The lady at the tour booking desk was helpful and kind. She even walked outside with us to point out a tasty Indian restaurant tucked in an alley behind the hotel. The main disappointment was the room service breakfast - we hung our order on the outside of the door (per the instructions on the form) and woke up to no breakfast. By this point it was too late to go to the (expensive) breakfast buffet, so we had to head out on our tour with empty stomachs. I'll probably try a different hotel the next time I'm in Guilin!
My first trip in Guilin 2018. I love the service even though when you are travel alone ! Warm Welcome upon arrival. Mr William (Bell service)helping me unload my big suitcase within 10 seconds . Although it was a very cold day but I was melting by his big smiling face . Suprise! I got a very nice suite room and speedy check in. They are wonderful!🤗(Evon and Olaf ) Highly recommend ! Good Service ! Good location !
There’s truly nothing spectacular about this hotel that you’d come to expect with the Sheraton name. With that being said however, the pricing isn’t all too bad at all. Rooms - The rooms appear to be slightly dated and have some minor presentation issues. The bed was quite comfortable and we especially enjoyed that we were given 4 bottles of water a day - much more than any other hotel. The window offered a view of a courtyard that had a green and mouldy fountain so that was a bit of an eyesore. Service - We enjoyed plentiful room service (slightly overpriced) and greetings from the hotel lobby staff walking by. They’re very happy to be there and help out with questions such as where local foods and attractions are. We weren’t helped with our luggage however, something that we expected from Sheraton given brands such as Holiday Inn are all providing this service. Location - Right next to the Sun and Moon Pagodas and an eat street behind the hotel. Great snacks to enjoy. It’s not at all far from the railway either which makes for a short taxi ride. All in all an enjoyable stay, but don’t expect anything to blow your mind.
The staff team at reception were very welcoming, very friendly, and efficient on arrival. My club room on the 5th floor was large, spotlessly clean, with a king size double bed. A choice of pillows were available. There was a large double wardrobe. Tea, (instant and ground) coffee, and water were provided, as were other facilities (safe, iron, slippers etc). Free wifi was also provided. The choice at breakfast was excellent. Occupying a great location, the hotel is within walking distance of tourist attractions and both high-end and local shopping. There are convenience stores and banks within 5 minutes walk. I will definitely return. Highly recommended.
Spend 3 nights here to see the Guilin natures. Shereton Guilin is a well kept antique hotel. It was crowded during my check-in hence it took a while. Room was a rather small but clean, etc. This hotel may not be suitable for old folks as you need to walk rather far to your rooms and they are stairs to climb. Just behind the hotel, there is a shopping belt and a couple of places to eat. Must try is Guilin Rice Beef Noodle. There is a river opposite the hotel and you can take a stroll in the evening. My second time to Guilin and the nature I'd still maintain. Nice. More than 10 years ago, it took us 12 hours to reached here from Guangzhou. This time 2 hours plus using the speed (bullet) train. Enjoyed my stay here.
I am a SPG member and have frequently use Sheraton in the past but sadly Sheraton Guilin needs improvement. Location: perfect, centrally located on the river in the centre of town. Reception: staff spoke little English ( which is ok as we don’t speak Chinese) however unlike any other hotel there was never polite acknowledgement as we passed by during our stay. Rooms: good standard very comfortable. We found our bed sheets had not been laundered correctly. The Night manager promptly rectified this problem which we thank him for. Breakfast: average for a hotel of this level Dinner: smorgasbord food was in most cases luke warm very disappointing. Staff: language is not important a smile and a greeting in any language means a lot to guests. Given the staffs attitude and quality of food I do hope future guests see an improvement.
Stayed here on two occasions. Check-in like night and day between the first and second time: first time, totally inexperienced and unfriendly older lady who took over fifteen minutes to cut a few keys and take my credit card and passport, second time, quick, efficient, courteous gentleman who spoke good English. Rooms are badly in need of refurbishment. Non-club level rooms have very dirty carpet. The view is generally of the tops of trees so don't expect any stunning river views despite the location, which, by the way, is the best thing going for the hotel. Asked for a taxi back to the airport: probably 20 passed by but the doorman made sure that I took his friend's taxi which ended up costing exactly the same as any other but necessitated a 10-minute wait.
While this property comes with all the fittings you can expect from a typical Sheraton family of properties from the Starwood Hotel chain, what is different is the absolute steal you get to book this hotel for! For the price of a 3 star hotel (anywhere else in the world) you get to enjoy good comfort and hospitality. However the hotel has started edging past its glory days and towards a tired property that needs attention and a facelift. LOCATION: Fantastic location right next to the Li River and all the action in the Pedestrian streets of the old town DINE + DRINK: Gaudy looking Dining establishments that are built in the signature style of Chinese opulence in the 90’s. While the layout of the restaurant and cafe might put you off, do not the miss the Breakfast as it comes with a huge spread of some really delicious local delicacies. Worth waking up for!! ROOM: I stayed in 1431, so this review is based on that; VIEW: Limited View of the River and mountains which were blocked by the line of trees sadly. ; SIZE: Very spacious room; AIR-CON: Air condition was very poor Room was very hot and hard to sleep; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part to put me to sleep; BATHROOM: Stand in shower; TOILETRIES: Good quality Sheraton Cosmetics FACILITIES: Very good fitness centre fitted with Full range of machines and free weights from LIFE FITNESS. a great outdoor pool, which can sadly be used only during good weather since it is not a heated pool. SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all my needs with a smile and made us feel pampered and well taken care of. HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free high speed Wi-Fi that works well all over the property. Big Plasma TV screen dishing out dozens of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies and a wide variety of entertainment in multiple languages
- Free WiFi and wired Internet in rooms and public areas
- Free parking
- Onsite dining
- Outdoor pool
