Visited with my wife to celebrate her birthday 50+ couple. Selected the Celwbration paclage / room. Thoroughly enjoyed the hotel hospitality and service. The OGH is clearly a central and very popular upmarket hotel catering for a variety of guests. The Brasserie restaurant is excellent with a great little terrace overlooking at Peter's Port. Food was good although one of our main dishes was returned due to being heavily salted. The second attempt was excellent. Room quality and cleanliness wwas excellent. Andi - the front desk customer relationship manageress was excellent.

Took advantage of the morning spa treatment package. Went with a friend after staying at another hotel on Guernsey. We turned up with all of our luggage, including a big bouquet of flowers I'd been given. I'd called reception the day before to ask if they'd look after out bags whilst we were at the spa. No problem at all, concierge met us and took care of our bags and also put the flowers in water whilst we were there. We also asked for a taxi to be arranged to take us to the airport. All of the staff were welcoming, extremely polite and friendly. We went down to the spa area where we chose our treatments, I chose the aromatherapy massage. Cami, who gave me a lovely massage was very professional and personable which enabled me to relax fully. I completely lost track of how long the massage took, I could've stayed there for hours. (My friend had a facial and also really enjoyed it, she said the only thing she'd change if we did it all again was to have the treatment at the end, as she then went in the pool and washed all of the nice creams off that had just been put on.) Once the massage had finished Cami gave my friend and I a tour of the spa facilities. We spent most of the time sunbathing and swimming in the outdoor pool, handily they provide sun cream and after sun at the poolside. It would've been nice to have some water available at the poolside on a warm day. After the pool we tried out the jacuzzi which was bubbly, I also went in the steam room and sauna for a few mins and both were clean and hot. After the spa we went up to put our swim bags with the concierge. We had a lunch booking at a restaurant in town and the hotel kept our bags safe whilst we were out. When we returned reception found a bag to put the flowers in so that we could carry them more easily and the whole team couldn't have been more helpful. In all, a lovely hotel, excellent staff and a brilliant morning.

Visited recently with a group of friends 10 in all. What a wonderful experience. Great Location, 1st class Hotel, with courteous and professional staff. nothing was to much trouble and the facilities were excellent. Personally can't understand why it is showing short of 5 stars in your ratings. Guernsey is a lovely quaint place with stunning scenery and this hotel fits it well. Would definitely recommend it to anyone wants to fully enjoy a special hotel.

We recently visited the old government house hotel for a birthday getaway. The staff were incredibly helpfull and were always on hand to provide exceptional service. They helped me pick out the perfect room for the nature of our trip and I couldn't fault it. I appreciate some rooms may not have such a good view as others but from the room that was recommended to me, from the balcony we could see the whole of St Peter port and neighbouring islands Herm and Sark. The food at the hotel was superb. We had two breakfasts, lunch and a dinner at the brasserie during our stay. All excellent. The weather was beautiful so we enjoyed our lunch out in the immaculate garden. The pool is lovely and warm and in a real sun trap. On a hot day you wouldn't want to hang around when it comes to bagging yourself a sunbed as they are quite limited. My fiance used the spa and enjoyed back shoulder neck and head massages. I was impressed with the gym as it had everything you would expect from a good quality gym including a decent free weights area. I can't speak highly enough about this hotel and I'd like to visit more in the Red Carnation Hotel Collection in the future.

Just perfect, great location fantastic attention to detail in every respect and thoroughly enjoyed being pampered. Probably the best hotel I have ever stayed at. Tiny examples of attention to detail - TV remote controlled was "sanitised" and a blue light in the bathroom so could find it in the dark.

At the top end of Guernsey hotels this has had some money spent over the years and I have been coming for nearly 20. Occasionally it feels a little bit tired but the main thing above all else is the staff. They are the most helpful, most pleasant group you would find in any hotel. Some have been there decades!! Word of warning some rooms have terrible views and some the sound proofing can be a bit suspect. Try to go for a better option or see what other rooms are free

We have stayed at the OGH several times in the past but until last weekend hadn't been there for 15 years. We were delighted to find it was as good as it ever was. The OGH is an old style hotel with a modern touch. The setting is idyllic, the staff plentiful and standards are excellent. We would recommend it to anyone who wasn't looking for a 'formula' hotel.

Have just returned from our holiday in Guernsey at the OGH. From the moment of arrival, this was like finding 'a little bit of Heaven'. We were welcomed into beautiful surroundings with a glass of 'bubbly', our luggage immediately taken to our room. We were then given a short tour of the hotel and escorted to our room by a charming, courteous and helpful member of the 'front of house' staff. The ambience of the Hotel is truly delightful; relaxing, gracious and comfortable. The staff without exception, were of the very best, helpful, considerate and kind. Kieron in particular was most helpful with our travel arrangements. Every meal was a delight and we particularly loved the garden and the heated swimming pool. Well done OGH, we loved every minute of our holiday and Guernsey is of course, delightful.

Just returned from another visit. Everything was just as fab as before. Thank you to all the lovely staff, so friendly and attentive. Can't wait to go back again. The hotel is beautiful. The food is amazing. If you go to Guernsey you must stay here. I can't praise it enough.

We spent a long weekend at OGH 9-12 June. We had a Double Room overlooking the front and main street. From the moment we arrived to our last moments we were expertly looked after. They are not just offering customer service they have a mission to create perfect moments and really want to make your stay the best it can possibly be. The restaurant and bar staff remember your name and quickly build rapport, offering suggestions and support even before you know you need it - toast crumb tickled my throat and a glass of juice swiftly passed to me to ease my coughing fit. Room was large for a basic double, bed was comfortable all amenities covered including robes and slippers. I also was delighted to find L'occitane products in the bathroom. Wide selection on the tea tray. Fresh milk is available on request. Bathroom had shower over the bath and could do with an upgrade. All towels and bedlinen high quality. Even tho we overlooked the main street double Windows cut out all noise. Restaurant provides a varied breakfast freshly cooked hot food to order. Evening meal was delightful and generous portions - honeycomb ice cream is superb. Piano man provides the right ambiance wonderful rendition of James Taylor songs. If you dont want a large meal the Crown Club provides a range of smaller plates and sandwiches - my husband said it was the best burger he has ever had. Gardens and poolside a complete delight, well managed and tidy. The most comfortable sun beds and free sun cream available in different factors. Water freely available throughout. Overall a relaxing break which became a real luxury treat, although you are paying a little bit more the care and service and overall quality of products and food is worth it.
