My second trip to Holiday Inn Sifu. No regret as it is in the middle of a shopping belt and you can get most stuff. Check In was a breeze, greeted my names, welcome drinks etc. Rooms are big, clean, comfortable beds, etc. The 2 last trips I recommended Guangzhou Restaurant Dim Sum opposite the hotel. My third time but this round I will not recommend it. Quality had deteriorated and pricey. Other than this, whole trip was nice.
Had a great trip late Dec. Hotel located at a very convenient location. Only thing is the entrance have a foul smell from the nearby eateries that was nauseating at times. Room was great. Only thing is that air conditioning is very bad. Not cold at all. Was perspiring at night. Hard to get taxi from the hotel. This place is great for guest who wants to just walk the shangxiajiu pedestrian street. It’s far away from metro and taxi is hard to come by. (~10mins ) walk to metro.
Strategically located at the middle of tourist spot, shopping and street food is everywhere. Able to walk to shangxiajiu plaza or liwanhu park. Recommend to eat local traditional dimsum nearby at Guangzhou restaurant. A room for 2 single beds can accommodate family of 2 adults and 2 kids. The buffet breakfast is above average.
Classic Holiday Inn. Consistently good service, clean, comfortable and, if you ask, quiet. Ask for the rooms that don't overlook the busy street. Staff from the front door right through to manager are cheery, helpful and willing. Beds are good and showers are fine. Good variety at breakfast with an early start. I'll be back.
A last minute switch to this hotel over our original choice of a service apartment in Tianhe. As I was travelling with my family of 4, my concern when I switched to this hotel would be the room size and sufficient beds. I booked a deluxe room with 2 twin beds. Upon check in, I was upgrade to a much bigger room. And both the beds were at 150 cm each which fits 2 pax comfortably. The room was very spacious with a mini sofa , a lounge chair and a huge writing desk with chair. Bathroom did not disappoint either. It had both a shower and tub with sufficient toiletries. Water pressure was good although we noticed that whenever another water faucet is turned on while the shower faucet was switched on, it does affect the temperature of the water running for awhile. As for the TV channels, there were many international channels to choose from. HBO, National Geo, CNBC, NHK etc etc As for the location, the hotel is right smack at the doorstep of Shixiajiu Street which is a a haven for shopping and eating. There were so many choices of food available and many heritage restaurants were within a few mins by walk. There is a huge traditional Chinese Herbs market located near to the hotel too. Only gripe is the 2 nearest metro stations are 10 mins by walk. Other than that, almost perfect choice for us. Would choose this hotel if I am back in GZ again.
We were given a complimentary upgrade to a non-smoking executive twin room by Alvin because we were travelling with our son, which was very comfortable. We have to give special mention to Ben, and also Louis, who gave great advice on where to go and how To get there. Can't believe Ben's English was picked up on the job! Another nice touch was their free WiFi throughout the property that enabled access to Facebook and whatsapp. And of course their location right on shangxiajiu and less than 10 min walk to 3 subway stops and the huge metropolitan mall. Will definitely choose the Holiday Inn Shifu on my next trip to Guangzhou!
Pros Compared to Beijing Road, I find the hotel gives a very local flavour. And it's clean too. It has a local shopping street right in front. The Guangzhou restaurant just across (but I find the restaurant over-rated), and many local eateries. At the back of the hotel, u can find interesting whole-sale cluster - one that sell pets, another sell Chinese herbs (but the real wholesale centre is in Yi De Road) I book 2 room - Deluxe Double & Superior Double. We are pleasantly surprised it got upgraded to a suite. The international buffet breakfast - I love it though my husband feel he can easily walk out and have Dim Sum for breakfast. It has a good variety of fruits, yogurt, bread and local food. The staff was friendly and attentive. But I didnt give 5 stars cos I notice the doorman (or concierge) doesnt help with our luggage. Cons As we went in first week of Dec - Winter, the suite room was far too big to trap heat or I'm not sure if it's the construction of the building. The room is very cold!! It's about 10 min walk to underground train station. I would definitely visit this hotel again but maybe I would think twice about the room upgrade if it's Winter.
We stayed at Holiday Inn Guangzhou Shifu. This hotel sits right on Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street so its super convenient to one of Guangzhou’s most popular shopping belts. We stayed in a Superior Room. The room is modern, spacious with more than enough room for 2 large luggage and walking around. Toilet was well appointed with tub and shower cubicle and all the amenities. Our stay included breakfast. The restaurant was large with a relaxed atmosphere. During the time we were there in Nov, there was not much of a crowd so no jostling for food. It was international breakfast and the variety was very good. If you did not purchase the hotel breakfast, you could go to the ground floor local food court. We particularly liked the noodle soup stall and the stall serving garlic steamed scallops and hairy crabs. Guangzhou Restaurant which serves up pretty good dim sum is also a stone’s throw away. The many side streets and lanes around the hotel also have many eating houses. Our only gripes were that the metro (Changshou Road station on Line1) is quite a long walk away, approx. 800meters. Also, due to the stinky tofu served at the nearby food court, the smell permeates into the hotel’s lift on the ground floor. If you need a ride back to the airport, at the ground floor, you can arrange with some of the minivan drivers who regularly come by. 200yuan to the airport for 4pax and 4 luggage in a minivan.
Stayed here for 3 nights with my family. This is the 3rd time i am staying here and the holiday inn standards did not disappoint. The location is about 30-45 mins from Baiyun airport and a taxi will cost about 120 rmb. The hotel is right on the Shangxiajiu pedestrian street. Car access to the hotel is behind the pedestrian street. The main pedestrian street had endless shopping needs and food places. The lobby is bright and spacious on the 4th floor. Counter staff were friendly and helped with a connecting room request i put up by the next morning. Rooms are huge and clean and well maintained with good cleaning up service The chinese restaurant had good food and staff were extremely helpful and friendly with all request we needed. The staff Dana was particularly helpful towards my aged parents. We would definately stay here again
Stayed three nights with a family of 4. The hotel lobby is on the 4th floor above the hustle and bustle of the street. Free high speed wifi is included. The hotel is located adjacent to the old part of Guangzhou next to the Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street. In addition, the Qingping Medicine Market and Shamian Park are very nearby. Very easy to use the subway to get around town. The Culture Park or Huangsha stations are only a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Hotel rooms are large, clean comfortable and had plenty of room, however had to book two rooms for a family of 4 (no quad rooms). The rooms are very well insulated as I did not hear any noises from the adjacent rooms. The air conditioning appeared to have a high, medium and low setting. The hotel offers a breakfast buffet (American style eggs cooked to order, hash browns, bacon, sausage, Chinese noodle soups and rice congee, steamed buns, fried noodles, fresh fruit, toast, expresso self serve machine and juices) which is a nice way to start your day. Although, there are plenty of restaurants below or street stalls nearby. Overall, an excellent and central place to stay,
