Local is good for shopping, however it is not at the main City area and you will need to take a cab. You will not have issues with taking cab expect weekend cab. Bell boy are usually very helpful to get a cab for you. However, on the 10 March evening between 6 to 7pm I was unable to get a cab. The older staff on duty was not keen to help. I gave up n walk to the main street to get cab. Service is all good expect for that single person. Breakfast very average. Rather go out for a meal.
Been a regular customer there, the hotel just refuse to let me amend my reservation which is 3 weeks later. Due to some changes in my schedule, need to check in one day later, hotel insist to charge for the amendments
The bad food smell surrounding the hotel is discussting. I stayed there 5 years ago, and thought may be that smell was temporary, but i believe it is coming from some kind of food cooking around the hotel. So the area, although convenient, but the smell hurts the ratings.
Decent mid range hotel , in a shopping district thou some how the reception check in check out was nt that pleasant , I flew with my infant non stop 16 hrs from USA arrived hotel very early no courtesy no humanity was found for my request which really disappointed us ( as we were not asking room for free & eager to pay an extra night checking in 6 / 7 hrs earlier also while waiting in lobby for our check in we decide to have paid breakfast & after having breakfast I have mentioned to the staff please kindly make us to our room bill ask & coordinates with reception staffs which ever the will will be arranged for us we will than pay but for 3 / 4 other hours numbed manger roam around lobby & keep pointing us like we just rubbed there Restaurant which was very impolite irresponsible & not professional other than those issues we enjoyed every thing here .
My second trip to Holiday Inn Sifu. No regret as it is in the middle of a shopping belt and you can get most stuff. Check In was a breeze, greeted my names, welcome drinks etc. Rooms are big, clean, comfortable beds, etc. The 2 last trips I recommended Guangzhou Restaurant Dim Sum opposite the hotel. My third time but this round I will not recommend it. Quality had deteriorated and pricey. Other than this, whole trip was nice.
Had a great trip late Dec. Hotel located at a very convenient location. Only thing is the entrance have a foul smell from the nearby eateries that was nauseating at times. Room was great. Only thing is that air conditioning is very bad. Not cold at all. Was perspiring at night. Hard to get taxi from the hotel. This place is great for guest who wants to just walk the shangxiajiu pedestrian street. It’s far away from metro and taxi is hard to come by. (~10mins ) walk to metro.
Strategically located at the middle of tourist spot, shopping and street food is everywhere. Able to walk to shangxiajiu plaza or liwanhu park. Recommend to eat local traditional dimsum nearby at Guangzhou restaurant. A room for 2 single beds can accommodate family of 2 adults and 2 kids. The buffet breakfast is above average.
Classic Holiday Inn. Consistently good service, clean, comfortable and, if you ask, quiet. Ask for the rooms that don't overlook the busy street. Staff from the front door right through to manager are cheery, helpful and willing. Beds are good and showers are fine. Good variety at breakfast with an early start. I'll be back.
A last minute switch to this hotel over our original choice of a service apartment in Tianhe. As I was travelling with my family of 4, my concern when I switched to this hotel would be the room size and sufficient beds. I booked a deluxe room with 2 twin beds. Upon check in, I was upgrade to a much bigger room. And both the beds were at 150 cm each which fits 2 pax comfortably. The room was very spacious with a mini sofa , a lounge chair and a huge writing desk with chair. Bathroom did not disappoint either. It had both a shower and tub with sufficient toiletries. Water pressure was good although we noticed that whenever another water faucet is turned on while the shower faucet was switched on, it does affect the temperature of the water running for awhile. As for the TV channels, there were many international channels to choose from. HBO, National Geo, CNBC, NHK etc etc As for the location, the hotel is right smack at the doorstep of Shixiajiu Street which is a a haven for shopping and eating. There were so many choices of food available and many heritage restaurants were within a few mins by walk. There is a huge traditional Chinese Herbs market located near to the hotel too. Only gripe is the 2 nearest metro stations are 10 mins by walk. Other than that, almost perfect choice for us. Would choose this hotel if I am back in GZ again.
We were given a complimentary upgrade to a non-smoking executive twin room by Alvin because we were travelling with our son, which was very comfortable. We have to give special mention to Ben, and also Louis, who gave great advice on where to go and how To get there. Can't believe Ben's English was picked up on the job! Another nice touch was their free WiFi throughout the property that enabled access to Facebook and whatsapp. And of course their location right on shangxiajiu and less than 10 min walk to 3 subway stops and the huge metropolitan mall. Will definitely choose the Holiday Inn Shifu on my next trip to Guangzhou!
