I stayed in this hotel for four nights while in Guadalajara. The room was clean and comfortable. The location of the hotel is ideal since you have many places close by. The cathedral is only like a fifteen minute drive away, but also keep in mind traffic varies so you might take longer. The famous Chapultepec boulevard is only ten minutes away. The staff is really friendly and will help you if you're stuck and want to reach somewhere. I give you heads up is that the train track is right next to the hotel, so if you are a light sleeper choose elsewhere cause it will bother you, but if you are like me a deep sleeper you won't have any issues. The prices at the restaurant the hotel has is reasonable, but you have plenty of restaurants around the area. Check out google maps and you will be surprised in what good location this hotel is in. Honestly if you just come to visit all you will need is a roof and a bed. The price is good give this hotel a shot.
This is a lovely PLACE especially the garden and pool area and it is under new management and new ownership and a LOT of work is needed on the place. For now this is a 1 or 2 or 3 day pit stop until the much needed improvements are done. The Breakfast buffet is good and the staff are VERY nice. Give it a few more months to catch up to where it should be. Inspect your room before you commit to a long stay.
I use to be there for few days, couple times in the year. I find this hotel quite rare, because is not a luxurious hotel, however you feel very comfortable because the atmosphere is quite charming... let's say, you feel welcome all the time. Staff is very very nice and the parking lot is very friendly as well... The only setback (although not for everyone) is that is located aside the railroad, which implies lots of train noises.
Yes, there is a train. However, all the other amenities (for the price) were amazing, after all, we'd once paid six times more at a five star just a few blocks away. The cost is so reasonable and yet the accommodation is clean, staff are friendly, and having an onsite restaurant (extremely reasonably priced food) which had room service until 10pm was amazing (and delicious). We stayed four nights two weeks ago. Now, we need another overnight and did not hesitate to book. Some nights and days there are a lot of trains, other times there are not. It's not terrible to have that loud horn, it's almost a kind of 'I'm part of a story' feel; at least that's how I treated it. The food was delicious. The breakfast (included) more than adequate. And we will stay there again in a few days. It works for where we need to be located (near the Minerva glorietta). Parking was great too. Super secure. Only small issue was weak internet, but they attempted to resolve, and the signal was much stronger in the lobby. Awesome value.
I stayed 3 nights in this hotel and must say, that the management did everything to make my stay pleasant. Thank you! If I was asking the wi-fi, they helped, even changed my room, so I could get better reception.
All right, I'm going to begin with the proximity to the train, because so many other people expressed frustration over it... I booked a room at the hotel and we stayed there for a week, because it was close to the hospital where my girlfriend was having outpatient surgery, with full knowledge that there was a train close by. The train never seemed to be an issue, perhaps because I simply told myself in advance that there was a train, to expect noise from the train, and even though it woke us up a few times, we drifted right back to sleep. There was one night where it seemed like there was a train every few minutes, I think it was Sunday, but like I said, no problem if you're prepared for it. The toilet seat was extremely loose in the first room that they assigned to us, but they quickly and I do mean quickly, transferred us to another room, no questions asked. We had some trouble with the door lock in this room, again not a problem, they sent somebody out to service it immediately. It appears to be an old hotel, but they also seem to be in the midst of updating it, and I'm just impressed that the hotel staff was so quick to try and fix things, and so fast to accommodate our special needs related to the surgery recovery period. The beds were comfortable, the air conditioning worked well, and the front staff checked with us to make sure that the nurse and doctor who came to visit were authorized to do so, the property feels very secure as a result of their vigilance. And the restaurant staff is top notch, very accommodating, very polite. The outdoor pool looked very nice, the staff cleaned it daily and the gardeners quietly mill about the property in the mornings, everything is very nice as a result. There were minor issues with the wi-fi, but frankly it is better than it's been at other hotels we've stayed at in the business sector of Guadalajara. We come to Guadalajara often, and we'll stay here again.
The hotel is clean and in good condition, but definitely get the slightly more expensive ground floor rooms with covered car park. The location is great and it has a pretty pool area and garden. The best part of our stay was the restaurant with efficient, friendly service and a wonderful (included) breakfast buffet with live piano music! The only drawbacks were a maintenance problem with the first room we were assigned, but the problem was quickly resolved, and that we were promised an invoice when we made the reservation but were unable to get one at the front desk. The Arborea Hotel and Hoteles.com are passing the buck back and forth and we still don't have an invoice.
On arrival at this hotel we met a slim built gentleman he was very polite and welcoming. He tallied the cost of our stay and we paid the amount requested, however approximately two days before our departure we went out on our return we realized we were locked out our room, it seemed that due to the time we arrived the first morning it was not calculated which would not be our fault . Instead of informing us they just locked us out, this was humiliating and the young man at the desk who did this i found him to be very unprofessional and not welcoming during our entire stay. We had a room on the ground floor it smelled musky and moldy we had to constantly asked for it to be deodorized but the scent quickly came back ,also the carpet was really dirty. The room was very cold and the hot water took really long to come on, the lights frequently stopped working and every vehicle or person that passed by you heard every sound. There was constant stomping from the upstairs room and noise although management said the room was empty. The worst was the train and we had no prior warning so it came as a surprise, it as very disturbing .The breakfast was not good at all.We had to eat out most times. I must say the grounds are nice especially the lighting at night. The rooms should also be outfitted with a small stove and some basic utensils.
I stayed at this hotel for a last minute trip to the Expoferretera (Guadalajara's hardware trade show). Picked it based on some reviews and location. But I think there a few things to keep in mind: This is more a Motel than a Hotel, facilities are clean and in ok condition, but not even close to other hotels nearby. Usually has reasonable prices, but they are driven by the quality of the hotel. Also, keep in mind two things: 1) Train tracks about 50 ft away means you will hear the train going by quite often, so bring your earplugs 2) Because of the "motel like" (i.e. drive up to your room) seems to attract a different guest profile vs. your average hotel. Given the security situation on Mexico, it is something to keep in mind, together with the fact that as a "motel" layout there is less security between your room door and the street.
I love the pool (though it could use a filter change; I watched them clean it, but it was not really clean) and the staff. The hard part is the train that passes by a few times a day (and night) but the hotel is a great value, the rooms are in good shape, I like the outdoor pool and the location is good.
