Lovely hotel location! Beautiful lobby & great front desk attentive staff. However, if you have any children- be warned, they won't allow them in the pool or spa tub unless you are in the water in suit WITH them. Ratio of 1 adult per 2 children. I understand water safety- but my kids are advanced swimmers. These rules are not publicized and therefore I did not pack a suit ( coming from states) and I had 3 very sad kids for 8 days/ 7 nights. They would even let me sit poolside and allow them in. Think with paying for amenities, I would be able to use them . Also front desk told me they couldn't get restaurant res at a place I found on yelp- but when we walked there, the place was empty & tables & dining was very much available.... Weird. I don't want to bring the review down- it's a lovely hotel & great location! Just a warning to families!

My room on the third floor on the backside of the hotel was very worn out and in need of remodel from the bed covers to the peeling wallpaper. Great location but otherwise not a good value for the money

Me and a group of friends needed to stay a night in Glasgow, and I booked us all at the Thistle. It is located in a shopping district, and a few minutes' uphill walk from the Central train station. The staff was very friendly, and helpful with restaurant suggestions and info on how to find things in town. We all had the breakfast buffet, and it was one of the best buffets I've had in a hotel. The rooms were well appointed with comfortable beds and soft linens. Everyone in the group of 9 was pleased with the hotel, and I thought it was a particularly good value for the price. I'd expect to pay more for similar accommodations in the US.

The hotel provided the perfect final stop on a long vacation through the UK.

It was a nice clean room and very close to the city center and activities that we were interested in. Nice staff. Car went dead and the staff was very helpful when we needed help getting the rental in working order. Even the head chef helped because he was the car guy. Very nice! Once block from city center and shopping area. Close to theater and music district. Staff accommodating when we arrived early with jet lag!

brilliant location, great staff and lovely room

We were there for a week long event at the Royal concert Hall, and being in a location that was walking distance from the venue was great. Taxis are also right around the corner if you don't find one at the door, if you want to go further afield. The rooms were not fancy, but comfortable and warm, and the doors which separate the rooms from the lobby area keep noise from the lobby way down. Service was good, and staff was very helpful. The telephone service was difficult for us--for some reason we couldn't get through to the reception desk by phone and had to go downstairs to ask for wake-up calls etc, and we were charged 1 pound each time we tried to make an overseas call, even though we never were able to get through to our number. I don't know what other hotels charge, but I thought that was excessive. Restaurant downstairs was fine and convenient and was able to serve us even when we came in late in the evening when other restaurants were closed. Good value for money--we got a non-refundable internet deal.

This hotel was clean, well located, and staff was helpful. Breakfast was good at the hotel restaurant, but kind of expensive. I would stay here again.

A good value for the money and a great location

Fabulous hotel and great location. You are literally a 1/2 block from the shopping district and 2 blocks from cinemas and universities. Bit noisy on weekend nights due to being close to clubs..other than that great stay.
