Crystal has an excellent service and friendly staff! From General Manager Mr. Franz Leder right to Mrs. Gritt Schönwetter and the porters - a team of smiling and helpful hosts. Nice rooms and location right in the middle of action downtown St. Moritz. I'll be back!
We weren't aware of the pick up service on arrival. We took Bus 3 from the train station and alight at "Schulhausplatz" bus stop which is just across Crystal Hotel. It is a down slope walk from the bus stop to the hotel so not a big problem for my elderlies. We also didn't find out about the pick up service when checking in. We walked back to the train station to collect our luggage after settling our elderlies in the room and were informed of the pick up services by other hotel guests when they saw us walking into the hotel lobby with our luggage. Checking in was fast. We had a family room and a double room, which are connecting rooms. However, we only had the connecting doors opened on the third day as the person in charge wasn't around since we asked about it late evening on the first day and were out early and back late on the second day. Both rooms are spacious and bright with walk-in wardrobes and big bathrooms. Crystal Hotel is the only hotel out of the seven hotels we stayed this trip which replenishes the toiletries (shampoo, shower cream, body lotion, shower cap, vanity set) daily (even though we only opened and used a bit of the toiletries). The mini bar was also topped up everyday (two sparkling water, one still water, two coke and two orange juice). The most inconvenient part was that we were there from Saturday (late afternoon) to Tuesday (early morning) so shops either close early or are not open at all on Saturdays and Sundays. i.e. we didn't get to enjoy the convenience of having a Coop at doorstep. We stayed for three nights so the hotel prepared mountain passes for us. However, the passes were only prepared after our arrival and we had to return the passes to the hotel when we checked out. This is different from the Ticino tickets which were ready for us when we checked in our Lugano hotel and we get to keep the tickets as souvenirs. We had one dinner and two breakfasts at the hotel. Dinner was good. We had an enjoyable, tasty dinner. The waiter was competent and patient. We overheard a table threatening to leave as they had to wait for their food but he managed to settle them quickly. Breakfast comprise bread, scrambled eggs, bacon, cold cuts and cheese, cereals, yogurt. The breakfast staff will boil the eggs for you. Checking out was also processed quickly and we managed to book the hotel's van (every 15 minutes) to go to the train station.
Felt a bit lost in Train station trying to figure out hot to get to Crystal Hotel from there and it was a pleasant surprise learning from Tourist information desk attendant that he can call hotel and ask them to pick us up.(Want to mention that hotel organised to drop us off to train station 3 days later when we checked out to our next destination) Very impressed with hotel cleanliness friendliness of hotel staff and hotel location (smack bang in the middle of the the city). Great room, great gym and sauna. Will definitely recommend it to my friends. Wanted to mention that breakfast food variety fluctuates a bit when big tourist groups are there. But if you are travelling independently and want fruits, eggs etc during mornings when large tourist groups are being served just approach a waiter (as we did ) and he will bring them to you .
We stayed at this hotel two separate times on two separate trips to St Moritz in Sept '17. We experienced great service on both visits. We had two different types of rooms, but both were spotlessly clean, very large, with separate sitting area, with a sofa and two chairs. They both had great views. One on the 4th floor and one on the 5th. They provide complementary shuttle service to and from the train station. The included breakfast was extensive.
This is a charming hotel. The rooms are smallish but squeaky clean and well appointed, warm and comfortable. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The hotel is centrally located and it is an easy walk to the elevator that descends to the lake. There are restaurants and shops surrounding the hotel as well. Our favorite was Hanselman's which was just one street down from the Crystal. You can't miss here...the bar has some good vino available too (although we sat in the lobby as the smoke in the bar - as it is everywhere - was off-putting). Enjoy your stay!
The Crystal was booked for us as part of the Glacier Express package Sept. 15 &16. They picked us up promptly at the train station, the desk staff were wonderful especially Dev......We were given a pass that was good for all the lifts and busses. The hotel is just a few steps from the Piz Nair lift with its spectacular views. The day we went these were intermittent, but being snowed on and shuffling through it was a treat for Floridians! Dev helped us book a mountain top dinner the other side of the valley reached by another funicular ride in the snow! We hiked only at lower altitude because of the weather. The room was very comfortable with a spacious closet and luxurious bathroom. Decor was country Swiss, which i prefer. The Duvets were warm enough we had to leave the window open, which let in a little street noise, but we had no problems sleeping after walking all day. The breakfast buffet was super and the dining room staff extremely prompt and professional. The entire hotel was immaculate. I would definitely go back, maybe in late spring or early summer to hike higher up and see more flowers.
We stayed 3 nights at the Crystal - the staff were very helpful and efficient - the room was small but immaculate , clean and more than adequate - the bus stop was right across the street for hiking excursions - the fernicular was only a block away that provided access to lots of hiking trails and the central location made for great shopping and dining. Breakfasts provided lots of variety of foods. They did have a courtesy van to pick you up at the train station. You really cannot go wrong if you stay here.
We are on a six week trip of Europe by train, visiting nine cities. The centrepiece train journey for us is the bookended Bernina Express and the Glacier Express through Switzerland to Zermatt. We decided on two nights in St Moritz and after reviewing the hotels in our price range we opted for the Crystal Hotel: what a good choice. When you are researching your trips and you apply due diligence, the choices are sometimes problematic: this hotel is true to our research and better; it's good for the following reasons: A courtesy bus from/to the station Very pleasant and courteous staff Central location The local bus service is thirty metres from the front door The hotels decor and our room were to our taste We dined twice in the hotel restaurant Grissini's and enjoyed the experience Our accommodation included breakfast which was perfectly adequate for us The dining room staff work the evening and breakfast shifts and they were very friendly and efficient The hotel offers the Engadin card in summer and it saved us a lot of extra expense The wifi is very good and was effective for our needs There are two lifts that are very effective and quick There are probably a few other things I've missed, but overall we're impressed and if we returned to St Moritz we would stay here. Highly recommended
The room was nice and spacious but the breakfast was very disappointing. Not much of a selection. So the quality and quantity is what youd get at a real bargain hotel. Front desk staff not helpful and a little off putting.
My wife and I were in St. Moritz for only one night before boarding the Glacier Express for the trip to Zermatt, so we had only a limited use of this place. The decor is primarily wood and has a nice rustic feel. The room was very comfortable, and we certainly would have enjoyed staying a few more days. The breakfast is good and contains the usual offerings. The front desk was friendly and informative. We arrived by train, and the hotel picked us up at the station and also dropped us off there the next morning, which was greatly appreciated as the distance and elevation change would have made pulling our bags a challenge.
