“In the words of our 3 year old “it is a beautiful and kind place.” To having a sunrise coffee on the deck in the morning to walking the many trail options around the cabin to enjoying a sauna and hot cocoa to end the night, we loved our stay at the Hygge Chalet!” - Ellyn
The Hygge Chalet is a sustainable A-frame located in the rural Rocky Mountains of Colorado. There is a private trail from the property into the National Forest with large aspen groves, a beautiful creek, and expansive overlooks from the saddle that is perfect for hiking or snowshoeing.
The home is a newly renovated original 70's A-Frame inspired by Scandinavian design and the Danish concept of “hygge.”
HYGGE: ['hue-gah'] (verb/Danish) To feel warmth, coziness, comfort, snug: a sense of wellbeing, belonging, contentment, togetherness, intimacy, happiness; enjoying simple pleasures, such as a warm cup of coffee by the fire, a walk in the woods, or a candlelit meal.
Newly upgraded highspeed internet makes the Hygge Chalet the perfect getaway for remote work while being surrounded by nature.
The Hygge Chalet is ideally located only 1 hour from central Denver, 40 minutes to Red Rocks and 1 hour to multiple ski resorts. There is an abundance of outdoor activities nearby that make perfect day trips all year round. Recommendations will be provided after booking for all the things to do, see, eat, and drink in the area!
“We had an amazing stay! Secluded spot, with a private hiking trail. The chalet A-Frame was wonderfully set up with all amenities and extra touches. Much bigger than we expected. The sauna was amazing, and we were able to charge up our electric car too! Beautiful wraparound porch to suit every desire.” - Tammy
PRIVATE SAUNA:
The Finnish barrel steam sauna truly sets this place apart from all the rest. It's easy to use and allows you to sauna bathe in the traditional Finnish way by pouring water onto heated rocks to create steam.
Most nights in the Rockies are clear enough to see the Milky Way and star-gazing is exceptional here, especially when taking a cool-down break from the sauna.
LIVING ESSENTIALS:
“So many thoughtful extras! Cozy blankets, quality linens and towels, warm lighting and everything you need to feel comfy and at home.” - Greer
The home is 1400 square feet with an open floor plan. You enter from the sauna side of the home into the entry way with sauna amenities waiting, like slippers and sauna scents.
You then walk through the open kitchen. The full kitchen has high-quality cookware and all dining essentials. Basics, such as cooking oil, salt and pepper, spices, condiments, etc., are provided. Enjoy complimentary fair trade/organic ‘comfort’ drinks, such as locally-roasted pour over coffee, tea, or hot chocolate.
The home is filled with books, board games, an iPad for movies, music, and information, a Bluetooth speaker loud enough to fill the home, and a gas fireplace for ambiance.
All high-quality linens, towels, robes, and slippers are freshly-washed right before your stay. As is customary for almost all homes at high elevation, there is no A/C due to the cool temps year-round in the evenings and mornings.
“The Hygge Chalet is a true gem. Hidden away in beautiful scenery and great for relaxing while enjoying the surroundings.” - Jamie
BEDS & BATH:
2 Queen beds, 1 shared full bathroom
There’s a bedroom downstairs with a Queen bed, a little dresser, a clothes rack, and a full-length mirror. The loft bedroom with an A-frame ceiling also has a Queen bed and a clothes rack. The bathroom downstairs has a walk-in shower plus many toiletries and extras in case you forgot to bring something.
OUTDOOR LIVING:
“This is a really nice and secluded spot with a beautiful hiking trail out the back door, and a lot of thoughtful touches around the house.” - Rafiq
The 3.5 acres of land is mostly wooded and backs up to National Forest. The outdoor space has a brand new large wraparound deck with stunning views, café lights, dining area, hammocks, Adirondack chairs, and a high-end gas grill with a smoker.
Behind the home is a custom street art-inspired mural as a nod to Denver with an Aspen and Mandala scene created by a local Denver artist.
“What can I say that hasn’t already been said? This place is BEYOND words. I’m not exaggerating when I say you will feel right at home and not want to leave…The sauna is the cherry on top for an R&R stay too. All in all, you won’t regret booking this stay.” - Kassandra
THE AREA:
While the home is very private and secluded on 3.5 acres, it is in a small, rural neighborhood with neighbors down the road. Our neighbors are the best, please wave or say hi if you see them!
Depending on the weather and traffic (especially busy holiday weekends) traffic sounds will vary from I-285. While you cannot see the road from our property, road noise can travel up the mountain at times and can be heard if you are outside or if the windows are open. If you're expecting absolute silence, this may not be the place for you.
The A-frame is close to stunning hikes of various difficulties, world-class fly fishing, adventure activities (zip-line, high ropes course, whitewater rafting, etc.), cultural and historical activities (ghost towns, mining for gold, dinosaur fossils, etc.), surreal aspen leaf peeping in the fall, horseback riding, train rides, sleigh rides, snowshoeing/snowmobiling in winter, and cute mountain towns to explore with wonderful small businesses to support. By far what our guests have loved the most is simply hiking the private trail from the property. Here are a few picks for where to head while here:
• The Shaggy Sheep restaurant, Grant - 2min • Guanella Pass, Grant - 4min • Treehouse Adventure Park, Bailey - 13min • Aspen Peak Cellars Winery & Bistro, Bailey - 14min • Off The Rails coffee, Bailey - 15min • Sasquatch Outpost, Bailey - 15min • Jefferson Lake - 30 min • Staunton State Park - 30 min • Red Rocks Amphitheater and Rock N Roll Museum - 45 min • Georgetown - 1h • Georgetown Loop Railroad - Historic Steam Engine Train - 1h / 26mi • Mount Princeton Hot Springs - 1h 15min
RULES: Guests must sign basic renter’s agreement prior to checking in, agreeing to the rules. Rules include no smoking, no fires, no pets, no hunting, no leaving trash outside, no littering, no parties and agreeing to travel in an All Wheel Drive (AWD) during snowy months.
AWD WINTER REQUIREMENT: All Wheel Drive (AWD) or 4 Wheel Drive vehicle is required during November through April due to unpredictable weather and steep mountain roads. However, it can snow as early as Oct and and into May. The road to the house is regularly plowed.
EV CHARGER: Our complimentary Level 2 EV charger is made by Colorado's own Emporia and considered the "Best Level 2 EV Charger of 2024!"
INTERNET/TV: Our High-speed satellite WiFi is fast enough for your remote work or streaming needs. By design, there is not a TV in the house since we encourage unplugging for the best hygge experience. Enjoy the vibes of the Hygge Chalet Spotify playlist and great sound on the Marshall speaker, which is controlled by the provided iPad.
ELEVATION: The cabin is at 9,000 feet. While it is rare, some people experience symptoms from high altitude (headache, sleepiness, dizziness, nausea, etc.). If you are coming from a lower elevation, we recommend giving yourself at least a day to acclimate in the Denver/Boulder area. Staying super hydrated and avoiding alcohol will also help prevent these symptoms. The natural bedrock spring water direct from the sink is some of the best water in the US, so please stay well hydrated during your time and always have water with you on day trips. Reusable water bottles and hydration powder packets are provided.
Whether you're looking for a cozy mountain retreat to read in the hammock and relax in front of the fireplace or to get outside and explore nature, the Hygge Chalet & Sauna is the perfect place to experience hygge to recharge by yourself or reconnect with loved ones.
The cabin is heated and features a kitchen and a balcony, and there's space to spread out with 2 bedrooms and a dining area. Guests can expect to find free WiFi. Other standard amenities include a fireplace, a coffee maker, and an ironing board.

Perfect Weekend Escape
This place is bliss. Just one hour from Denver but we felt a world away. Stunning views, clean and cozy. We were extremely comfortable and appreciated all of the thoughtful touches from the owner (snacks! robes! slippers!). The sauna is perfection. We will definitely be back with regularity whenever we need some R&R!

Perfect Anniversary Getaway
We couldn’t have enjoyed our stay at Hygge Chalet more than we did - unless we had stayed longer!! The house was just oozing with charm and extremely functional. the listing is 100% accurate and the chalet is even more than that. Peaceful, comfortable, cozy, restful. Sara was a wonderful host and very attentive to communications. Spent one day visiting Breckenridge for a sleigh ride and dinner. We can’t wait to return to Hygge Chalet.

Hygge Chalet
My wife stayed at the Hygge Chalet outside Grant, CO just after the 4th of July and we truly loved it! The charming place was exactly as listed, and Sarah was very responsive to the couple questions we have. Everything is pretty much covered in an onsite guide, so take a few minutes to read it. It would have helped if I had read the guide prior to trying to turn on the sauna. The chalet was absolutely clean, and we loved sitting on one of the decks for either dinner of morning coffee. I appreciated that it was at the end of a road, isolated, and provided a lot of relaxation. As we live in Denver, we are looking forward to our next visit.

Perfect mountain getaway
The Hygge Chalet was everything it promised to be and more. It's clear they've put a lot of effort into ensuring their guests feel taken care of while staying at the Chalet—from the delightful snacks in the kitchen (which came in handy!) to Sara's responsiveness to my questions.
We got snowed in on the last full day of our stay, but we couldn't have asked for a more peaceful place to watch the snow fall. Sara also coordinated with her very kind neighbour to plow the path down the hill so we could make it back into the city to catch our flight the next day.
10/10 would recommend. We can't wait to come back again!

Best Stay EVER
No exaggeration, this is one of the best places I have ever stayed. The chalet is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood in the mountains. It has everything you need during a weekend away - things that you might even forget while packing for a vacation! The owners of the property are quick to respond with questions you may have.
It's sooooo cozy and very clean. There's a fireplace in the living room that makes you just feel tranquil. I enjoyed cooking in the fully equipped kitchen and sat in the sauna many times to decompress. There's a private trail next to the property and snowshoeing shoes are at the chalet for guests to use (multiple pairs).
I can't express enough how much I loved it here. And I know for a fact I will return in the future. It's too pretty and lovely to not go again :)

Wow! What a great kept secret!
Amazing little place that is so easy to get away to! Just one hour from Denver. The Hygee style the chalet embraces really fit with our “getaway into coziness mentality!”
Second time staying here. Will come back again!
