I am writing to express my disappointment with our stay at Danes Court. The property was not as described and had numerous maintenance and safety issues.
Ensuite: The main shower didn’t work, lighting had no IP rating, the extractor fan was black, and the bath plug chain was broken.
Main bathroom: The blind and shower head holder were broken, the window wouldn’t open, and there was nowhere to place toiletries in the shower.
Downstairs toilet: The macerator caused foul smells through the sink waste, there was an unsafe light switch inside, and the door was black with mould.
Living room: The DVD cupboard was jammed, preventing use of the player. The woodburner had no wood or tools, appeared poorly maintained, and the air vent knob was stuck. I also doubt the chimney had been swept.
Kitchen: A foul smell came from near the fridge, cupboards under the sink smelled damp, the bin lid was broken, and most lights didn’t work, leaving the room dark. The woodburner here didn’t work either. There were not enough plates, bowls, or cutlery for use between meals.
Other issues: Many windows couldn’t open, raising fire safety concerns. The hallway lamp didn’t work, and the outside walls were black from leaking gutters.
We believed we were booking the whole house, not part of it. Overall, the stay was very disappointing and below acceptable standards. I would appreciate a response and fair compensation.
