I went there with the kids skiing. It was our first visit ever to Sierra Nevada and I must say that I was positively surprised. The hotel is modern and has an indoor pool which is nice. Bars are nice but the regular dining room restaurant was not what I had expected it to be. Next time I will come back without half board and get our dinners in the small tapas places opposite the hotel. Good for kids and a short walk only to the lifts.

We Enjoy Melia Hotels and regularly stay at Melia Berlin, which is a fabulous hotel. The hotel in Sierra Nevada was good, but not that good. Have you ever tried sleeping with Square or "sausage" shaped pillows, what ever happened to a traditional shaped pillow? Sometimes hotels are trying to be to clever. We found the rooms noisy, kids running up and down the corridor until early hours, not sure where the parents were? The guy on reception when checking out tried to charge me for the room, even though I had pre-paid, developed an attitude when I showed him I had already paid. The SPA was expensive, my son used a changing room just off the main changing room and the ceiling was falling down, not brilliant. We loved the Ski boot room. I think all Melia staff should be trained at Melia Berlin, this hotel is outstanding and absolute credit, my Wife an I are returning in June Can't wait. The problem is that when you have one hotel in the chain which is outstanding the rest have a lot to live up to.

Opted for the 'Level' which included drinks etc and accommodation in an adult only area of the hotel. Also included access to adult only lounge with nibbles, drinks etc, very comfortable for relaxing with friends before and after dinner. Bedroom was stylishly decorated with excellent housekeeping and turn-down service. Large comfortable bed with an option for different pillows. Enjoyed the spa which was extremely relaxing after a day on the slopes. Loads of hydro therapy jets which were great for aching muscles. Breakfast was very impressive with a large selection of food including freshly cooked pancakes. Excellent location with just a short walk to get to the ski lifts etc.. Would definitely go back and have recommended to friends.

Lovely hotel in the centre of the village. Great location and wonderful spa facilities. However it is a shame they charge so much to use the spa facilities. The walls are paper thin between the rooms and the corridor and the windows facing the road are very leaky and we couldn't sleep until 2am. We were moved to a much better room the next night. The breakfast buffet is lovely and the staff are friendly and helpful.

Just back from 5 days skiiing at Easter as a family of 4, 2x girls of 8 &12 and i thought this hotel was fantastic. The Melia is probably the nicest hotel in Sierra Nevada, rooms are well appointed and contrary to other reviews I thought were spacious enough for a family of 4. Definitely include breakfast in your stay which is excellent quality and a fantastic range, from cook to order omelette to smoked salmon and fresh fruit. The free kids pool is great for kids of 8 and under, the spa looked amazing but is €29pp per day so v expensive and kids aren't allowed in. You are just a short stroll of around 100m to the main ski lifts which is great when lugging ski equipment and the hotel boot room is spacious and right at the lower ground exit. The only 2 things stopping this being 5* is the hotel is really hot and we struggled to sleep even with the window open and the walls are fairly thin, the Spanish like to eat late so bundle into their room at around 11pm making lots of noise. Parking is available under the hotel at €24 a day, this is the same price everywhere in town and street parking around the square is like gold dust. I would suggest driving up to the top of town where street parking is free and leaving your car there, it's a good 15 minute walk but u won't need a car once here. Try to park by the mid station of the chair lift, we didn't realise this until after we had walked back to the top of the village!! It's an amazing resort for beginners and we had good snow but even in April and have already booked for next year.

Very well located, it is only 50 metres from the access to the station and 25 metres from the entertainment área. Very recommended for a family skiing stay in Sierra Nevada, one of the best skiing locations in Spain

The rooms are cozy, nicely appointed, and we had beautiful views of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Importantly, the hotel is in the center of the village and steps away from the ski lifts. The service at the hotel is excellent. The spa is very nice with an elaborate indoor pool zone for adults with fountains and hot tubs, another smaller pool and warm tub that's a hit with the children. Very nice, modern, updated facilities. However, since we were traveling with 3 children we went to the buffet cafeteria for dinner -- the food was awful and expensive. Charge was €38 per adult and €27 per child. This is from someone who is unpicky about food, I virtually lack taste buds. The pizza was gummy, the meat lasagna tasted like fish. Even our kids wouldn't finish their single pizza slices. It was disgusting, the only decent items were the salad and desserts. After politely complaining we were offered discounts for beverages. The breakfast was much better than dinner however, with nice coffee. This shows what happens when you lack competition -- you're trapped in a ski resort and you get gouged. However, there are better dining options outside of the hotel. I'll stay here again but will leave the premises for dinner.

The location is great, but it doesn't offer value for money. Kids under 12 can't use the pool, which doesn't open until 1 p.m. We booked a suite and The Level and had to pay €120 extra per child. What for? Next time, we will go back to El Lodge. It is so much better and great for kids. And our car was damaged in the garage.

We are regulars having stayed here for the past 7 years for a few days skiing. Hotel is well located for the lifts & the village. The Level Lounge was still excellent & the staff friendly & helpful but the rooms are looking tired & worn . We had 4 of the down lights not working in our suite but after pointing this out to staff only 1 was replaced. The pool area is still ridiculously priced & the service in the spa was average. Food choices for both breakfast & dinner were extensive but the dining room is huge & loud so not a relaxing experience. We enjoyed The Living Room but it was not staffed so if any drinks ran out we had to go to reception to ask for it to be replenished. The price has been edging up the past couple of years & I think the time may have come to seek out a better value for money alternative.

There is very little seriously wrong with the hotel but we find it over-priced and not in the same category as, for instance, Hilton or Hyatt. The staff in The Level Lounge deserve special mention as they are exceptionally good. The concierge services are also good, but the rooms (even the de luxe rooms) are very small and are not good value for money.
