Having stayed in other Melia hotels I had high hopes but this hotel was a big let down, The rooms were clean but apart from that not very inspired, the staff in general were friendly especially Jesus in the restaurant but the front of house/reception staff were down right rude and unhelpful. If you intend to use the pool make sure you bring flip flops and a pool cap otherwise they will make you buy them there, I can't remember the last 4/5 star hotel that made me wear a pool cap ??? We didn't even have robes or slippers in our room and the member of staff at the spa couldn't even organise a towel, needless to say I will not be returning and I will hesitate staying at another Melia !

Stayed here in previous years however I will think twice before returning. Pros... Rooms are comfortable and spacious enough for two persons. Breakfast buffet is excellent with wide choices. Half board option is excellent with fresh fish and steaks in abundance. Even had Turbot on the menu! Location is very central and near to gondolas for access to slopes. Cons... Very over priced this year as the resort was hosting the Snowboard World Championships. Whilst we had booked for 5 nights half board costing €1,310 (€262 per night) for twin room I enquired to add 2 additional nights. I was quoted €359 per night which I thought was extortionate and an attempt to exploit an opportunity. To have given us the same rate would have been fair. If you search around there are many more cost effective hotels and apartments in this resort which I will certainly look to consider next time...

The hotel is a strange mix of features. Mostly old wood and stone, it chucks in the old fashioned and new with abandon, with modern spa (which is lovely and head pool, Jacuzzi, steam and sauna) and random games room with outrun 2 of all things... nice facilities for kids and regular kids club activities too.

I was up the Sierra Nevada to ski for the 5th time and thought I'd book into the Melia for it's location - 2 min walk to the gondala up the mountain (key when walking in ski boots!) The room was clean and spacious, but basic - not kettle/tea/coffee, but on asking, a kettle was provided. I found the beds comfotable and there were plenty of power sockets. Ample storage and each room has it's own ski locker in the parking area which was very handy (there is parking under the hotel or in the main town parking btoh at an additional cost). I didn't have a 'mountain view room' but could still see some of the scenery, although not really important if you are skiing all day and sitting out at a bar for the afternoon/evening. The highlights were the spa - free to use for guests, it had hot/cold showers, sauna/steam room which were great for the muscles after a hard day on the slopes. the pool is cool so founf I couldn't sit in the jacuzzi bubbles too long. If it's busy with kids it's very noisy, but on my second night there were only 2 couples in the spa. The other bonus was my half-board package, meaning i didnt have to trawl through the villge and wait for dinner. Both morning and evening meals are buffet style, the choice and quality is amazing! they put out different main dishes each evening, plenty of salad/meach/cheese/soup. Dessert table is fab too! The chefs keep it all well stocked and fresh only down side was that drinks were not included with your dinner (juices, milk, coffee/tea available at breakfast). The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. I am already planning on booking again for my trip next year, it is not the cheapest place to stay, but for what you get I felt it was fantastic quality.

Stayed here for 4 nights on a ski trip with friends . The hotel is in a great location a short walk to the gondolas, ski shops , restaurants and bars . The underground car park is very good too . We stayed in a Melia room it was very comfortable and well furnished. We used the spa and gym which were excellent. Breakfast was superb in terms of offer and service . We will return .

It was a very good vacation, there was a slight perception of less value for the money paid. But it's mainly due to the room decor, and the extreme heat in the room at night. Nobody showed us where the heaters were so we could turn it off. Also, the room where we hang our ski boots had a very bad odor everyday.

Wanted to try out Sierra Nevada to see if it was possible to do skiing and beach in a day... and yes you can - almost :) Only 2 hours 2 min drive from La Cala de Mijas - we had lunch on the slopes and dinner by the beach - perfect Melia Sierra Nevada had lots of charm - less modern than the other Melia - but this is why we chose it - to feel an element of Alpine touch about it... FAB spa - apart from paying for the flip flops - which you really don't need - and you need a swim hat as well- or can buy that too... but it really was a great pool and steam room - bit small for the sauna.. Great rooms - clean very warm and comfy... Best bit - the breakfast - what a selection - freshly cooked eggs - any style - sweets / fruit / savoury - the lot - a real feast!! Great location too - right near the slopes Locker room a good size - but no heating for boots - bit of a downer if damp... Good snow at the top - very icy on the mid section in the morning - turning to sugar in the afternoon - so ski mid morning to mid afternoon - and then nip off for Apres!!! Great for a weekend resort... will definitely return

Kids club is Great! Breakfast has everything anyone could think of. Beds are OK. Location is fantastic. No coffee in rooms only tea. So you have to use the bar or use roomservice. Just wanting à coffee in room wihout all the hassle and wait. Kettle is there so it makes no sense.

I visited Melia Sierra Nevada for one night in February 2017 to ski. The location is incredible - right in the centre of the village where the restaurants, gondola and ski rental shops are. The breakfast was also very good - perfect before a day of skiing. It was helpful to be able to buy ski passes from the hotel. However, the wifi did not work for the majority of the time we were there, and not much was done to try to help this, despite calling reception and visiting reception. Secondly, there is no temperature control in the rooms, and our room was unbearably hot to sleep in. Finally, depending on who your neighbours are, the walls are not very well soundproofed and we were kept awake until early hours of the morning by laughing/talking next door. Overall, its a really excellent location but it is overpriced for what you get.

Excellent location a short walk to the sloops, staff where generally polite, and helpful, directing us to book our ski passes. The rooms where hot and after we had turned down the radiator in the bed room, it was much more comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with above average choices, even to hand made, on demand omelettes. We had a kettle which was good, not normal, but had a lack of English tea and coffee, and had to ask in the restaurant for milk.
