These apartments are in a superb location within the city for walking to all the attractions. The communal spaces are amazing, the rooms were clean and modern and the cleaning staff were brilliant and very friendly. There is no reception so keep the phone number handy for check in as a tip. The only down sides were the shower didn't drain properly and flooded the bathroom twice and builders started work at 8am every morning cutting floor tiles. Very noisy especially after we had done a night tour and didn't get to bed until 2.30 am.
Modern, stylish and spacious appartments in a good central location. It was slightly hard to find the hotel to check in, but we found the door entry system very convenient. The beds were comfortable and the living area roomy and pleasant. The bathroom was clean and the shower good quality. We were able to look out on the Easter parades and though the streets were busy, noise was not a problem. The public areas at the bottom were amazing but we didnt really have time to use them. The only down side was the car parking - we had quite a large hire car and the bends in the car park were very tight and the spaces very small. Would definitely recommend the appartments.
Stayed 3 nights in 2 bed apartment 4 adults. Great location nice restaurants and super market nearby. Rooms good size and clean. Big kitchen nice lounge. Shower nice good size. But its the little things... Everything a little bit tired, no kettle, washbrush dirty, no bread knife no seats in bed rooms to put clothes no hooks to hang up coats. Only two hangers in wardrobe. We got more but why the need to ask.... Could do with another comfy chair in lounge or cushions on the chairs as they are hard to sit on. It wouldnt take much to make this fantastic. As others have noted bar outside can be noisy as narrow streets echo. Would we stay here again...not sure may look for other options next time. Its nice but not excellent,
If you ever decide to stay at this hotel refuse to accept a 3rd floor apartment. Since this room was booked for up as part of the package for 11 day six city self drive tour of Spain we did not have any choices of hotels or rooms so we got stuck on this one. The first problem occurred when we arrived. We got to the front door and had to ring a bell and communicate that we had a reservation. The lady (who turned out to be the cleaning person) spoke very little English but she had the reservation listing and was able to check us in. We found out after check in that the normal check in was to be at an office several blocks away but no one told us that. Second problem was the room. The outside wall was the roof and it was 45 degrees so you had to duck quite low to get around the bed. It had a skylight that you had to climb onto a chair to be able to open and it had a retractable shade that was fixed in such a way that I was afraid to try to open it. (Would have been nice to look at the sky after dark). There were no other windows in the room. The room was long and narrow, had a nice bathroom and a small kitchen fully stocked just add food. Third problem the elevator was abutting our bathroom and the corner by the bed so we heard various clunks and bumps every time people took their luggage on or of it and it was very noisy. Biggest problem is as mentioned before there are no hotel staff on the premises except the cleaning person in the mornings. We were traveling in January and Granada is in the mountains and it was cold and windy. When you return to the hotel after a few hours of seeing the sights to get into the hotel you have to push a call button and tell someone your room number and they would activate an electronic door latch. This person did not speak English but all you had to say was the room number, except on one occasion the electric door release did not work for five attempts. Each time I would have to push the call button, give my room number and tell him that it did not work. No big deal except we are standing in the cold wind on a very narrow sidewalk (less than 2 feet wide) with people walking by and cars and motor scooters zipping by with inches to spare. This alley is a one way road with lots of traffic and in places where there is no sidewalk. A very poor way to run a hotel. If given a choice, I don't believe I would ever book another room at this hotel even though it was convenient to Alhambra and other considerations.
Fully equipped apartment with all you can possibly need. Big, fully equipped kitchen. Clean and comfortable. Ideally located right in the heart of the old town. I would stay again and would recommend to anyone.
I'm a travel agent and had sent clients to this hotel in the past. I've always thought it looked so cute in the pictures. We decided to spend New Years in one of their apartments with our 1 and 4 year old. The noise begain just after 12 pm. There was one pub just on the other side of the bedroom wall and another 3 meters across the street from the living room. Loud music and shouting all night long. We did not sleep at all. The hotel knew we had small children before we arrived and they did nothing to put us in a quieter apartment. When I wrote them after the fact their response was, "It's a special time of the year, we're so sorry." And it took them 2 days to respond to my email. Apart from this, the decor has nothing to do with the pictures. It's very simple and basic, which would have been fine if it were clean and in a good state of repair. There was dust everywhere, the bathroom walls were cracked from humidity. The kitchen had the most basic of utensils. We had to drink our New Year's champagne in what looked like Nocilla glasses. The crib provided for my baby had wooden slats he could poke his arms and legs through, twist and break them. I definitely will not be sending the Marquis chain any more of my clients.
We stayed at the Marquis Portago and the first thing that struck me is that they really need to make you more aware of how bad the parking situation is.. We were travelling with 2 children (2&3) so we had to first find some parking - near to the Marquis Urban as we had to walk from the car to the hotel with a double push chair. Hotel was found and checking in seemed pretty easy - then we had to walk 10 minutes from the Hotel Urban to the Marquis Portago apartments...on cobbled streets with traffic and double push chair. Got to the apartment - got buzzed in and there was supposed to be a member of staff waiting for us with our room key?! They weren't after waiting 10 minutes I decided to try and find them and they were out the back having some food. Got key, wife and kids in the room - then the task of getting all the things we need from the car to the apartment as parking is an issue. Managed this and got into the room. The rooms and apartment block on the surface look really nice - but when you actually look at it they are very cheap and dressed up - but our stay was OK considering. In the room (109) there is a single air conditioning unit to cool the whole apartment and 2 bedrooms which in insufficient - there is not sufficient cuttlery, the bathroom door doesn't shut as it has has swollen from the water from the shower. The rooms are side on to a very busy street and the windows are single panes - so it is very noisy with traffic, bells ringing and general noise... Now my biggest gripe - you don't get a key to the front door so every time you want to get in you need to ring the buzzer and wait to be let in by someone on reception elsewhere! I think the point I am making that it is probably OK for a couple - who are going to be out for dinner every night but for a family where you need a bit more - it doesn't cut it. What they don't tell you is that you can drive up to the apartment and park in the street alongside it to drop off your bags.....not sure why but knowing this is would have helped us ALOT!
Great apart. Very modern and spacious apartment. I did not feel very comfortable with the entrance system without an staff with presence in the building. The location is very good but a long way to the Alahambra.. Parking is located at approx thre blocks from the apartment.
The apartment is very spacious and well maintained with a lounge, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom! The facilities are very modern and it's ideal for families! The location is extremely good as it close to everything, food, shopping, sight seeing! Definitely must stay!
I would highly recommend these suites. We were thoroughly impressed. We stayed in room 303 facing the courtyard which makes it less noisy. If you are concerned about noise make a special request to face the courtyard!~ The suites were LARGE with the bathrooms on the other side away from the bedroom. It has everything you need and VERY clean. The only downside is the reception is in another hotel, but it is a very small walk (maybe two blocks)
