Hotel Los Girasoles I2.0 out of 5.0

Had to book last minute and was worried about the bad reviews. Perfectly fine, clean hotel. Lacks character or quaintness but I would have had to book earlier for that! Yes the bathroom is small and the hotel is somewhat loud, but I found that to be true with all of our lodgings in Spain. Staff was very friendly and always available. Good location. Note breakfast isn't free like tripadvisor says, it's 4 euros. I chose to go around the corner where there are cafes, bakeries.
We stayed here for 6 nights (ugh) because it was very close to our friend's apartment and recommended. It is a 2 start hotel so maybe I should know better... The room was so small that we didn't have anywhere to put our luggage, and had to maneuver in an out of the bathroom... The noise level was very high from the outside in the am and inside the cleaning staff in the hall made so much more noise that when they started to clean we had to get up- no other choice. We didn't take the breakfast included and that was a good plan since there are several bakeries and cafes near by. The location is good because it is very near Gran Via. Our rate went up more than double when we stayed for a weekend night during the Corpus Cristi holiday. I think you can do much better though the price was quite low- @ $45... the old adage is too true you get what you pay for.
Having read reviews on Trip Advisor and Booking.com I was concerned but without reason. Our room was spotlessly clean and recently refurbished with a very comfortable bed (new mattress). The only thing missing was an extra pillow. The bathroom was small but very clean with a good shower. Our room was on the corner but wasn't too noisy. The staff we came into contact with were very pleasant and helpful. We didn't eat breakfast in the hotel but it looked fine. For the price it was good value. We don't expect restaurants or spas at a two star hotel and I'm surprised that some people expect more from a basic place. The location is very close to the centre and the Granada city tour bus stops.
Staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are cleaned daily, and new towels every other day. Breakfast continental style (what else in Granada lol) with plenty of choice. A great central location for sightseeing in this wonderful city. Taxis/buses just 5mins walk away, and the Cathedral and plaza's in the centre a 10 min stroll. Can be a little noisy, as many locals come home around 12-1 in the morning, but if you want peace and quiet, don't stay in a city ;-) Definitely a good place to stay to see the wonders of Granada
Wow ... shocked at the great value - at the end of the day as an overnight it´s a place to place your head! I will say the walls were paper thin .. but on a little lane around the corner from the old centre of Granada. We had WiFi, we had english language television, the receptionist could not have been more helpful! Bonus was there was a bathtub ... not just a shower! Don´t expect luxury ... it´s basic and perfect for an overnight.
We stayed in Los Girasoles I Hotel for 3 night. We found the hotel in the average but we had some problems. First of all the WiFi connection didn't work properly in our room. Another issue was the lack of a window (and a fan) in the bathroom. Finally during the first night the smoke sensor failed and some water fell down. Despite the problems above, the position in quite good and the saff very friendly.
Filthy rooms. I went to the reception to ask if they have forgotten but they said that it was ready. Disappointing and annoying. Nothing more to say. This is something that mark you the rest of your stay. I wouldn´t stay in a place that do not make you feel confortable.
We booked this hotel based on the listing. It was advertised as a quiet intercity hotel with newly renovated rooms. Nothing could be further from the truth. The rooms are tiny run down dark smelly with no sound insulation whatsoever. The wifi could not reach to the room. The air conditioning did not work.Sleep was impossible with the noise coming from the street and from the neighboring rooms. The only truth is that the hotel is central. But it is not in the historic Old Town but on a noisy and dirty Street in the new town. Don't believe the listing and don't trust the photographs on the hotel's website.
We've stayed at "Lo girasoles" on a Saturday night, we saw from my phone a good deal on booking.com but, as we were only few minutes from there, we decided not to book from this web site (also because we know that the property pays a commision, and we wanted to do "a favor" to the hostal). Well, when we arrived the receptionist said that she didn't know anything about the offer (how can this be possible if it's your job??) and, when we entered internet to show her this deal on booking.com, she quickly deleted the hostal from booking.com and make us pay 10€ more! I mean, it's not a big deal... but she could have been honest and tell us the truth: the offer was only for who booked by booking.com (-> and could leave a comment there, I think this is the reason!) - that's it! Moreover, she didn't even know how to get to the "ferial" (one of the main actraction by that time!) cause "she never goes there"... but if you work in a touristic place you should be able to give basic information! The only information she gave us (about where the town would have made the fireworks) was wrong and she made us miss the fireworks! Such a pity!! On the other hand, the room was ok (even if with some noise from the street, but nothing too annoying) and the other people working there were nice and helpfull. The location was fine too.
This "Hostal" "Hotel" or whatever it is listed as, is the equivalent of an American motel. The place is small, provides minimal services, and the room is an average motel size. The location is good and within walking distance to most of Granada's main attractions. The breakfast options are limited and the breakfast room is tight and located next to the main entrance. If you prefer more food options and a comfortable atmosphere, there are several Spanish cafes/bars in the area. To avoid confusion with other hotels by the same name, simply write down the address and show it to the taxi driver if you don't speak Spanish. The place could use a bit of work but overall it is affordable and convenient.
