We have just returned from a seven night stay at the RIU Palace Masplaomas, from the minute we checked in we were made to feel very welcome. We sat on the sun terrace enjoying our first drink while reception checked us in, it's true the rooms are a dated but the public areas of the hotel make up for it. The pool scene is fantastic the staff come to your sunbeds to take drink and snack orders. The hotel is in a great location overlooking the sand dunes, we will most defiantly return
Great service, well appointed rooms, good selection of food, pool area perfect to relax. I must say the staff are all very pleasant and look after you very well, nothing is a problem. 10 out of 10, will be back again soon.
I was taken away as a thank you from my Husband, who selected this hotel and what a choice it was!! This is possibly one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Normally we go for small bespoke hotels so I was slightly nervous what such a hotel as this would be like but i was soon reassured. As soon as we arrived we were warmly welcomed by the reception staff and asked to take a seat in the lounge where a glass of champagne quickly arrived. soon check-in had been completed we were shown o our room and our luggage very quickly arrived. The room had a great view of one of the pools and the dunes and sea. The room was spacious and clean, with a big bed and two arm chairs, the balcony had to reclining chairs and foot stools. The bathroom is well equipped, Shower/bath with good pressure and temperature. The restaurant is huge and while breakfast is anytime between 8-10:30, dinner is two defined times 6 and 8. Again I was slightly concerned by thus but again there was no need. All of the numerous staff were smart, always smiling and greeting you. The range of food on offer is amazing and changes every day. We thought that we would probably eat out one or two times in our week stay but never wanted to because the food was so great. First shout out to Ester who looked after us and always made sure our wine was chilling in an ice bucket when we arrived. A nice touch was being greeted by the restaurant manager on our first night who allocated our table to us and who then came and saw us on our last night to ask how our stay have been and was genuinely interested. Likewise we thought we would probably go out in the evening but apart from one night we stayed in the hotel having drinks on the terrace - second shout out to Keith who was an excellent waiter. Again, and its a common theme, the staff here were all smart and always with a smile and happy to help. Apart from one day we spent all our days by the Pool. You are given too pool towels which you can exchange everyday if you want. While the hotel has signs up saying you can't reserve sunbeds, we used to watch a morning ritual of people in hotel dressing gowns wander around 'claiming' their sunbeds in the early morning. That said there are loads of sunbeds so it was never a problem and I believe the hotel was fairly full. There are lots of staff about if you want to order a drink or food which is good as well. All in all this is a great hotel made even better by the staff who really are there to make your stay the best it can been and are genuinely keen to help you.
Have stayed at this hotel many times, and it is as good as ever. Superb staff from managers and all the other staff. All very friendly. Weather was superb, not that has anything to do with the hotel. My only request is when will they have key cards to the rooms instead of bulky keys. Have booked again for next November.
What can I say but Excellence all the way. The staff are so helpful and polite. The food is plentiful, varied and caters for every Nationality and every whim. This was our second visit and I am sure that there will be more in the not too distant future.
Dear, i was very pleased by mr rene working late shift at the front desk who allowed me to feel great staying in this wonderful property along one of the best locations on the island. He made my day since the problem was very small that i was having. My wife sleeping next to me i couldnt wake her up at 4am to watch my formula one with the opening season race of melbourne. So needing a tv where i could knock myself out and cheer my favourite drivers, he (rene from FO) gave me the keys to a nearby room where i could simply enjoy my time Thank you again for exceeding my expectation PS: great team/staff all over the property, genuine interest in the wellfare of their customers* B/r
Visited here for one week early March. Stayed on the third floor with good view of the beach (we'd requested upper floor and they accommodated). Food was varied, tasty and well presented. Had no problem finding lounger by the pool for relaxation when we wanted. Staff we interacted with were courteous and helpful although we didn't have any problems to sort out. No hesitation coming back here if we return to Gran Canaria.
Whilst the hotel was clean and the staff friendly I must confess I was disappointed. the food was ok, nothing particularly special, some nights better than others. Breakfast was very busy, no matter what time we went. often difficult to get a table, always lovely clean linen on it. but getting tea/coffee wasn't always easy. however there was certainly priority given to certain clients. the décor was dated but clean and fresh just old fashioned, seemed to be stuck in the 80s. the rooms were always cleaned thoroughly. the pool area was clean although some of the clientelle were certainly as miserable as sin. heaven forbid children might make a noise as they played....and no they weren't ours and there were only 2 little girls playing in the pool, no slides or fountains or anything like that to make them squeal. it isn't an adult only hotel so if people want that then they should go and look for one. and heaven forbid if you should push your sunbed across the tiles and cause a noise as they older clientelle will protest most vociferously and certainly not in a language a British person would readily understand. my husband used the gym and said the equipment was poor, he was disappointed. he also said the floor was dusty. We didn't get to any of the shows but then we didn't know where they were held. there was no indication either when we checked in, from the rep or in information in the room. you have to pay for a room safe, whoever heard of that in this day and age? 20 euros per week and as we stayed for 10 days we were charged for 2 weeks - go figure! No kettle in the room or complementary tea/coffee, haven't experienced that before! if you want a kettle you have to hire it!!! There are very few English speaking channels on the tv apart from 2-3 news channels. other nationalities seem to be well accommodated for. the area! oh my word! it's shabby and tawdry. if you are into swingers clubs that's fine. lots of posters up for shows which leave little to the imagination. so if you are looking for a family friendly resort this one isn't for you. also there were certain coffee shops you might go in that didn't particularly want to know if you spoke English. certainly wouldn't go back to Playa del Ingles area again and the name is very misleading
Not long back from our trip to Gran Canaria and second time staying at this hotel. It is now becoming a little dated but that is part of its charm. Meals are largely self-service and can be a little bit hectic but restaurant staff are amazing never ceasing to smile or give a friendly greeting no matter how busy. My big bug bear this time can perhaps be explained by the title of my review. I paid a supplement of over £200 to Tui for a sea view room ( total waste of money ). I also went to the bother of emailing the hotel a couple of weeks in advance requesting a room on a high floor ( total waste of time). My room was on the second floor ( there are four ) with a balcony not unlike a cave looking out on to a large tiled terrace surrounded by ballustrades. Now if I stood up I could admittedly see the sea on the horizon but in any other venue eg concert, sport etc this would have been classed as a ‘restricted view’ and probably subject to a price reduction. Having raised this with both hotel and Tui rep the standard reply was ‘ if you can sea the sea then it is a sea view room’ but to be frank I feel cheated and my experience tended to spoil an otherwise enjoyable holiday.
We stayed at the hotel from 11th Jan to 18th Jan 2018. As soon as we arrived we were made to feel very welcome, and as always the Riu Hotel lived up to our expectations. The service of the staff throughout are stay was impeccable and everyone spoke to us and always greeted us with a smile. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was exceptional, beautifully prepared and presented. Although there was a part of the restaurant that was 'A la Carte' which could be used at anytime but had to be booked, we were so delighted with the main restaurant we didn't take up this offer. The hotel had special little touches eg, the maitre di and the cooks greeted everyone on entry into the restaurant. Our bedroom was spacious and we were fortunate to have one which overlooked the pool and dunes in the distance. Cleanliness throughout the hotel was excellent. The position of the hotel meant it was quiet but a 15 minute walk took you into bustling Playa del Ingles with small tavernas which often had live music and a 45 minute walk across the dunes took you to Melonaras with its fine designer shops and restaurants. The entertainment in the evening was high quality, often dancers or singers. The resident band played afterwards who provided dance music and a varied collection of music. We only booked our holiday 2 days before and it was a wonderful break to get away to the sun, it certainly didn't disappoint! Superb!
