AC Hotel Gran Canaria by Marriott

I’ve stayed at my fair share of Marriott properties and always have great experiences with the AC brand. This hotel was no exception. Staff was friendly and housekeeping very thorough. Rooms have been updated, but likely not recent. Shower pressure is slightly lacking but ok. My only real gripe with this hotel is that parking is offsite and confusing. There are apparently two options and we chose to park at the mall where Hiper Dino is. Our issue is we couldn’t figure out where the parking attendant is, after looking all over the mall and both floors of the park are. We needed to find the attendant because you need to tell them you’re with the hotel. After giving up, we just paid the 16 euros and then learned to park in the aquarium lot down the street for 2.50 euros per day!!!! The other issue with this hotel is dropping off luggage, if you come by car. Their are limited spots to stop your car and there IS an elevator. We made the mistake of angering the neighbors by blocking the lane way to unload and check in. We also made the mistake of lugging our bags up the stairs, before we realized there was a freight elevator.

A nice enough hotel but it certainly had no soul. No public areas to sit quietly and relax in. Room clean and comfortable. Location excellent for town and beach...and lots of nice bars and restaurants just outside so best to eat there.

We stayed four nights and were satisfied with the room; simple amenities but comfortable and enough closet space. The downside was the bathroom which was a little small due to do the circular configuration of the building. Another awkward thing are the steep steps one has to take from the sidewalk to reach the lobby. True, there is a lift on the right hand side for luggage. Staff were pleasant. And the rooftop swimming pool small but with excellent views. Location is excellent because everything is pretty much within walking distance. And there are also plenty of places to have (much cheaper) breakfast nearby. The best pace to park if you rent a car is the car park of the new aquarium that is being constructed. Unbeatable rate of 2,5 euro for 24 hours. If you need to move the car frequently in and out of the car park the hotel has an agreement with a private car park located in the street behind.

I have stayed here twice before (in 2007 and 2012). It remains a business-focused hotel which still works well for holiday makers. The location is a winner - a few minutes walk from Cantares Beach and near Santa Catalina bus station with so many eateries nearby. The room was immaculately clean; the bed comfortable. We were on the 12th floor and you can hear city noise so probably wouldn't go much lower down the hotel. The bedroom had a small fridge in it with a pay-for mini bar - but there was enough room for us to also store a few things in it. The TV was large with reasonable sound quality albeit we missed having no BBC news - there was just Russia Today in English. Two things we noted during this visit: - the bathroom has a sliding glass door onto a corridor area in the bedroom. This makes it feel slightly less private - the lighting in bathroom for shaving is not ideal The free wifi worked well. The aircon is effective and quiet - you control it entirely from the room. Perfect. The hotel has a policy of replacing towels only if you want them replaced i.e. you don't hang them up. Fantastic and we were happy to use our towels for the week! There is a free shuttle bus to and from the airport - email the hotel in advance and they will give you the times from the airport (you can't book but just turn up at the stop at the right time) and then you can book for your return at hotel reception. The hotel reception is responsive. We reported a problem with a light one morning and it was fixed same day. We had a noisy neighbour for our first two nights. On the first night our neighbours hosted a party. The people didn't respond to my neighbourly request direct to them to be quieter at 11.30 pm - but did respond when I reported it to the reception of the hotel at 1 am and the hotel intervened. I should have done this earlier in retrospect. On the second night our neighbours talked through the night and had an unusual number of knocks at their door. We mentioned this to the hotel and they assured us that if our neighbours were not already checking out that day, they would relocate them. I felt the hotel dealt with the issue well - and other than the background city noise the hotel was wonderfully quiet for the other five nights we stayed (as it had been previously). We didn't use the hotel restaurant simply because there are so many good and inexpensive places nearby, including for breakfast.

Been several times to this hotel and is decent hotel for business visit. Location is pretty central with easy access to most things. Decent restaurants nearby. Rooms are pretty standard and basic but clean and with balconies

Overall we enjoyed our experience in this hotel. It was clean and comfortable. The roof top pool is gorgeous and a lovely addition. The hotel is also in a great area, right next to the beach as well as the shopping district. It is important to note however that the area of Las Palmas seems to be more of a local area rather than a tourist spot - we didn't mind this at all but others may perfer a tourist resort. One issue we had was that our room was directly across from a skate park so there was quite a bit of noise. There was also no tea or coffee making facilities and on check out we were almost charged €17 for a dry cleaning service that we did not use! This however was quickly sorted out by staff. The free airport transfer is also great, while it didn't work out for our arrival it was really helpful for our departure. Would happily stay in this hotel again and recommend to others.

Have just stayed 3 nights at this business hotel and I most say that I the staff there is more than happy to help you out. The cleanliness of the room was very good. Regarding the breakfast and the restaurant the food served was of high quality. So to summarise this stay it was very good. Can absolutely be recommended to others.

When we arrived we were welcomed by very nice staff at the front desk. Our room was on the 11th floor with fab views of the beach and the square. We were upgraded to a supioreior room on the 18th floor due to techinical problem which gave us even better view and fab sunsets. Beds are so comfortable and the AC workes a treat, there is a flat screen tv with a lot of channels which you can change to english if you wish. mini bar and coffee machine. Wi fi in the lobby but we also got it in the room. Room were cleand every day. It is in a very good position across the road is a shopping center with few shops and take aways. Loads of restaurants , pubs and shops around the corner from hotel spoilt for choice. This is also where you can pick up a bus to most places a very good service. The beach is 5 minutes away it is beautiful . Sun loungers €2.50 for the day umbrella €2.50 also, rows of restaurants, shops etc here also. There is a lovely walk along the prom to the lighthouse and another large shopping centre better shops here el corte ingles outlet in this centre top floor worth a visit. We got the courtesy bus back to the airport. We had a great time and we would without hesitation stay at this hotel again. We had a very nice stay .

liked this hotel. staff good and friendly. food good in restaurant but drinks are expensive. there are a number of reasable places nearby so its not a problem a shuttle service to the airport is available would like to return again next year

We always visit Las Palmas each year, and decided to stay over this time. The hotel is a real landmark in the city. It's a couple of minutes from Parque Santa Catalina, five minutes from Las Canteras beach, and opposite El Muelle shopping centre. The hotel staff couldn't have been more helpful or pleasant - - all in all, a great experience.
