The hotel itself is smartly designed with a mix of modern calm- and coolness while preserving an Italian look and feel. The rooms are of sufficient size and the beds are very comfortable. The bathroom is spacious. The outside breakfast area is beautifully situated with flowery shade and a full view across the beach and bay with its turquoise waters. The breakfast buffet is small and basic but includes all essentials. Coffee, of course, is great! Staff is always helpful and supportive. We didn’t see or meet anyone in a bad mood. The access to the large beach with very shallow waters (ideal for kids) is extremely convenient and easy. The area with the hotel sun beds is just off of the hotel cafe and breakfast area. The downside and reason for the 3* star rating is that it radiates a cheap feel if you have to exchange towels for an old plastic card and if you lose either, you should pay some outrageous amount for old, overly used and frayed towel. I understand why they do this but naturally this comes with making every guest of suspect of towel theft. On top, charging 30 Euros for two sun beds a day may be standard in Italy but I just expect a better and more comprehensive service for the extremely high prices which come with the rooms. And the high prices are the 3rd point of criticism: It’s just too expensive and not worth it (I say this while enjoying the beautiful sea view from my 5* star hotel room in Greece which itself is expensive but still cheaper than the Gabbiani).
This hotel came highly recommended and we can see why - the location is perfect, our suite was fabulous, the restaurants and food was divine....all the staff were delightful. It is set literally on the beach, in a beautiful bay , with everything right at hand. We had a wonderful restful trip that was worth every penny.
For the amount we aid for the best room at the hotel, we could have stayed in a Greek 5 star hotel for 1,000's of Euros less. The room wasn't what we expected and had seen on the website. The staff apart from the Manager, our room cleaner and the two guys sorting out the sunbeds that you have to pay 30 euros per day for two sunbeds and an umbrella were the only friendly people, the rest couldn't really be bothered. It took me 30 minutes to get a drink from a very small bar with one person serving and other visitors complaining as well. Breakfast was a joke. Watered down orange juice, tinned fruit, watery sloppy scrambled eggs and cakes that had flies crawling on them. Overall, I feel like we have been ripped off on the extremely priced room and the photographs taken for their website must have been taken by a photographer with a wide angles lense and an artistic licence. We will not be going there again.
I stayed at this hotel as a base for exploring the Costa Smeralda in late June. The location of the hotel in Golfo Aranci is great, with it being situated in a quiet residential area. I was able to park my car in the hotel's small underground garage easily. The staff at the front desk were always friendly and helpful. And I would say that the highlight of my stay was the wonderful breakfast buffet. There was a large selection of fresh made pastries, along with cold cuts and fruits. And they even had prosecco for breakfast! The clientele at this hotel was older, so you don't get noisy party goers or children. The room and grounds were all immaculate, being very clean. My "compact" sea view room was very spacious, and large enough to accommodate having two 30" suitcases open on the floor, with ample room to walk about. Overall, this hotel made my entire to the Costa Smeralda very enjoyable, as it provided a great place to rest each evening.
Perfect location, right on the beach. There is a nice restaurant on site but you would walk just 5-10 minutes to many other restaurants to eat at. The water at the beach is the most amazing clear blue and so shallow for many meters so perfect for small children. Very nice and friendly speaking staff. Rooms decent size with a minibar and a newer bathroom. Breakfast was good. Saltwater pool was refreshing. On the bad side - The wifi was terrible. I spent over $100 on data packages for just the 3 nights I was there. Management told me the entire island has bad wifi connections. Make sure if you have kids you download plenty of movies ahead of time! I also found the 50 euro each way for the shuttle to and from airport to be a bit steep.
Nice hotel. Beautiful setting with amazing views from most rooms. Our basic room had a good sized balcony for sitting out. Friendly staff. Restaurant nice for dinner and decent enough breakfast out on the terrace overlooking the bay. Pool area too small for the hotel size - loungers often “taken” (towels left on them contrary to the hotel regulations listed in every room...but we never saw any action being taken) by shortly after breakfast leaving the only option as paying €15 for a bed on the beach. Not really good enough when you consider the cost of a room. The bay itself is fantastic - crystal clear water that is shallow enough to stand in a long distance out. The town isn’t up to a great deal - lots of restaurants but they must all have the same printer as the menus are generally all very similar. Great place to come though if you want to relax in beautiful surroundings.
This is a really beautiful hotel with wonderful staff. We stayed 5 years ago and loved it so much we decided to return in 2019, they made a lot of improvements which made our second stay even better! We particularly like: 1, The staff: we felt well looked after throughout the whole trip. Antonella, the restaurant staff, reception, bar staff all really cared and made sure our stay was extra special. 2, the location: it is perfectly located to enjoy Olbia and Golfo Aranci; its 25 minutes drive from the airport but when you arrive ta paradise. They have a private beach which has pristine white sand and lovely shallow water so it’s like a giant lagoon pool! Their actual pool is really nice with view of the boats on the bay. And it’s 5 minute stroll into the main village where you have great restaurants and bars. 3, the restaurant: it’s easily the best place we ate in Golfo Aranci. Amazing food, views and staff. Even if not staying here we recommend a visit. 4, the rooms: since we first stayed the rooms have had a major upgrade. The suites (which we looked around for next visit) are outstanding and certainly 5 stars! The main building rooms are lovely, the bathrooms have all been re-done and it’s clean and modern. Would highly recommend and we will be back again!
On our way to Corsica, we decided to pass through Italy. We spent a few days in Golfo Aranci in hotel Gabbiano Azzurro. This hotel is stunning. It looks like a little Italian paradise in the best part of Sardinia. If you want to enjoy your days outdoors by the swimming pool getting sun kissed all day long as you enjoy the breeze, it is the place to be. When I saw the pictures of this hotel, I was sure we were going to spend more nights on the property. We arrived at night, and we were warmly welcomed and directed to the Pool Suite. It’s a luxury suite connected to the main hotel by a lift. When I entered, I was thrilled. So this is what it feels like living in paradise, I told myself. It has a wide terrace on top of each room with a private 23 sqm sea water pool with comfortable sunbeds. Here, you can enjoy a breathtaking sea view overlooking the spectacular landscape. The suite is independent such that we didn’t have to look for anything else. Imagine a private balcony and a spacious bathroom gleaming with a full crystal shower. Comfort and luxury combined in a nice looking package. I was tired, and the king size bed was too tempting, so I gave in and slept. Next morning, we woke up late. The bed was so comfortable and perfect. I didn’t feel like moving my body away from it. We had to skip breakfast, so we headed to White Restaurant for lunch. I couldn’t wait to taste the food here. Chef Daniele Sechi offered us a delicious Mediterranean cuisine with special attention to Sardinian specialties. My taste buds were in for a great culinary experience as the dish could satisfy even the most demanding palates. This was the first time I tried fregola, typical Sardinian pasta made with semolina and rolled into small balls. The next thing I just had to try was seafood, and I was stunned. It was the tastiest dish I have ever had in Italy, and I was thankful we chose the hotel. The salad with octopus and Sardinian sweets were to die for. The service here is impeccable, and the place is beautifully lit with fantastic views overlooking the sea 180 degrees giving you a sailing feeling. On the first day, we had the chance to meet Antonella Da Tome and Laura Mor. Two amazing people who gave us a brief history of the hotel. To be honest, I fully enjoyed each day I spent in Gabbiano Azzurro hotel. Not just because of the beautiful property and stunning views but also because of the unique feeling being home away from home. Everything from the warm blankets in the luxurious rooms, the impeccable swimming pools to the incredible attitudes of the staff made me feel like I was living in paradise. I can’t be grateful enough to Gabbiano Azzurro Hotel & Suites for making our short stay in Sardinia so amazing and precious. Am definitely a repeat guest from now onwards.
We stayed towards the end of the season for a week from 13th October 2018. The weather was still very warm and it rained a couple of times but only once for the whole day. All of the hotel staff were welcoming and friendly and very efficient. Breakfast was a buffet style with fresh fruit, cereals, nuts, yogurt, cheeses, cold meats, breads, amazing cakes and pastries and a hot selection of eggs, potatoes and sausage or bacon. Room was not huge,a superior village view double, but spacious enough, very clean as was the bathroom and the complementary toiletries were gorgeous. There was iced water in reception flavoured with various herbs and lemon or cucumber which was delicious and very welcome after a walk around the local town and harbour and it was little details like this that gives the hotel its special family feeling. The location was just amazing on the edge of the clear Turquoise sea with beautiful views. We really enjoyed our stay and would like to thank Antonella and the team for making our stay the best holiday we have had for a long time.
We stayed at Gabiano Azzuro for 10 days in July as a family of 4( with 2 very young children) we liked about this place is: 1. The beach-which is clean, children friendly, the water was clean and very warm. 2. The restaurant- Salvatore and his team make a good job and food tastes very very good, and i know good food. 3.staff is friendly, client oriented, very polite. 4. The hotel is very clean and the rooms were always taken care of. Now comes the negative part 1. The rooms are EXTREMELY small. They put us one bed for the children and i basically had no place to move around in the room. We asked to change the room and they offered us something better but we had to pay extra and it was only for 5 days, after, we had to move again.i spent 2 halves a day on my holiday packing and unpacking. 2.They cheated with our bill! My husband wrote down all we ordered in his phone and when the final bill came , we had items on the bill which we never ordered. 3.Sunbeds are a ripp off...and the worst part is even if we booked them, there are some guys who pack them in the storage overnight, and at app 18.30 when it's actually the best time to swimm they were putting them away so after paying 30 euro per day i actually had to sit on the blanket. 4. They offered us transfer from the airport for 50 euro but when we arrived, the driver started claiming 70. My husband had to argue with him and it has not been nice. 5.One day as Salvatore who is the manager of the restaurant was not there the place was a total mess. The owner of the hotel was havibg luncj with her family or maybe friends and all the waiters were serving her table and we were waving , watching and waiting. Our toddler of 3 years was watcjing the waiter carrying food to that table and yelling because he was hungry. We had to wait over 40 mins for a portion of fries and they forgot about our fruit salad. In the end i just grabbed my kids and went upstairs, really pissed off. My review is here not to critisize but to suggest to the management some areas where they could improve.
