Nice clean room, nice garden outlook. Bed ok, but that’s all for the positives. Absolutely terrible Wifi - had to use mobile phone data the whole time. Short 8 day trip to Vic - stayed at 3 AirBnB- all excellent with great Wifi. Wish we’d stuck to them for our visit to Ballarat .
Location of the Hotel is only a few minutes drive away from Sovereign Hill and about 5-10min to the nearest supermarket. Service staff was welcoming when we tried to check in early but room was not ready. Came back to check in after 5 and was given our room. Parking was just outside our apartment which was convenient. The room was big and comfortable. Toilet had heating function. Service staff was very prompt when we informed that there were some electrical issues with our room when we called after 10pm. He got everything settled within 10min. Downside was that the bar had closed after we returned from our show at Sovereign Hill and was unable to redeem our welcome drink. The service staff in the restaurant was a little curt when I checked if we could redeem the welcome drink. Could only use it the following morning when we were checking out. Overall a comfortable stay and enjoyed it!
2nd time in one of the new rooms just amazing and comfortable. Did have issue with the tv stopped working & called reception Lachlan couldn't fix it but in the morning mentioned it again at reception to Jason & it was fixed before we got back from breakfast. Can't wait to stay again.
Recently booked in for a long weekend extended stay. I have stayed in other Mecure Hotels and chosen this one because of the strong brand. Unlike other reviews I must of received one of the older rooms. The rooms in the 50-60 block were so run down. The mattresses I don't think have ever been rotated or changed. My mattress had collapsed internally. The furniture is marked and worn. Mould evident through the bathroom. Throughout our 4 days the housekeeping staff did not reset the room or clean the room properly. Fridge was not switched on when we arrived and was very noisy during the night. Can hear people in the next rooms. Some sounds were horrible. More issues to write about, but might tell you about the positives. A good TV with a remote that actually worked. that's about it. I would not stay here again at this property. One of the worst hotels in the chain. Pity, it has so much potential to be great.
Went to a conference hear with Ambulance Victoria Oct 2017. We were looked after well and everything went smoothly - really well. Liked the beds as firm without being soft not hard like most places now.
New rooms are wonderful, great size and 5star, we stay here often and will be asking for new rooms from now on, easy check in for late arrivals. Someone has done a awesome job making this hotel up to date and cool art work, Well done !!
Great location, great facilities with the convenience of great desk and work capable 'office', Comfortable bed and great chairs for relaxation. Good room in bathroom. Great breakfast bistro. Also appreciate 24/7 reception for late arrival.
We were very disappointed with this hotel. There was so many things that did not meet our expectations for this brand. power point t the bed was not secured to the wall correctly as it had a large gap around it. only 1 coffee spoon and it was dirty, glasses in bathroom had not been washed. Dirty marks on kettle. mildew in the shower. Bed all crinkled up as bottom sheet was bunched up very uncomfortable on feet.
I stay here regularly now as an Accor member. The renovations (Room 83) are a breath of fresh air! I stayed here a few times a couple of years back and its country charm was failing. With Billy's Restaurant and the renovated rooms, it is now a delight to stay there! The staff seem to be on point and efficient, it's like a completely different venue from back in 2012. The last few stays have been wonderful! The only thing I had a chuckle at, is the TV size so small for the newer renovated rooms...my TV reception played up when i was in room 74 so I reported the fault. Hopefully all fixed for the next guest? Well done to the management for turning this place around. I'll see you guys in a few weeks!
My wife & I had to opportunity to stay at the Mercure Ballarat Hotel & Convention Centre. The brand new Lady Hotham accommodation wing is excellent, good sized rooms, thick brick walls that all but eliminate noise and an excellent, so comfortable King bed. We dined in Billy's Restaurant for a milestone Birthday and the food & service was superb. The aged Steak was a big tender cut, juicy & full of flavor. The salmon & chicken were likewise. A big thank you to Simon & his team for a memorable night & memorable stay. It would be worth staying at the hotel just to eat at Billy's.
