We have visited this Accor Hotel several times now and enjoyed each stay. it is a tranquil stay and great for relaxing. new developments of a spa and indoor pool will enhance this retreat greatly when finished.
We stayed here for one night. We had a loft apartment. It was spacious and clean. Not so great if you have young children as the second bed is downstairs and near the front door. This wasnt a problem for our family. Short drive to Sovereign Hill. We also got breakfast with our room. It was a lovely buffet and we enjoyed it. The room was great value with the breakfast.
Modern and very comfortable room, great facilities set in lush, sprawling gardens. It’s a few kilometres out of town so you’ll need transport. Service was very efficient and food was good though a bit pricey, especially the breakfast buffet
This was a short stay for us. The hotel staff were friendly and the room was modern and nice, but when we pulled the bed sheets back, we found a hair and stain, so we slept on top of the doona. We realised that this probably had come back from the laundry or they'd made the bed on top of something. We were dissappointed, but realised it wasn't consistent with the hotel, so we just put it down to a bad experience.
The location of the hotel was perfect and the apartment was a good size for families however I feel as though the apartment we stayed in hadn’t been used in quite some time as there was dust on the remote control and it had a very stuffy odour when we opened the door. It clearly needs to be aired out. The dining chair legs were ready to break on 2 of the 4 chairs and the kitchen cupboard doors didn’t close. The apartment needs a bit of a renovation.
This was a really nice place to stop prior to going into Melbourne after the 7hour drive from Adelaide. Reception staff were inviting and check in was smooth. We were told we were upgraded whether that was the case, not sure. Room was comfortable but not 5Star luxury. As Silvler Accor member we had 2 drink vouchers for free drink. We dined in the restaurant which was an enjoyable meal and experience. Great friendly staff and 50% off with Accor Card. Lovely Country Club setting and very quiet with no road noise. Comfortable bed and no real complaint except we had a pair of pyjama bottoms left in the bed and according to Mecure Ballarat they could not really help as their laundry goes to a local Industrial laundry and it is difficult to get back items left in bed sheets. I would have thought the hotel cleaners should have located the Black & Whiter coloured short tie pyjama bottoms. Message and my contact details left with Industrial laundry to contact me if they locate. I’m not holding my breath but hopefully I may get them back. Apparently they get heaps of items lost in sheets which go to the Industrial laundry, socks, nickers etc.etc. Surely the cleaning staff should locate items when they clean rooms and change over bed sheets. Not ‘Happy Jan”. We stayed for my wife’s Birthday and ther hotel provided a nice gift of a “Ballarat” coffeemug and a jar of chocolates. Thanks Mercure Ballarat. A lovely gesture for my wife’s Birthday.
My room looked lovely when I walked in, but it had an old musty smell to it. When I looked more closely some of the bathroom I am sure hadn’t had a decent clean for quite some time - it was black when shouldn’t have been. So bad was it that I ended up staying at a different establishment. The staff however, were very friendly and tried their best. Due to the obvious lack of cleanliness, I doubt very much if I would stay there again, despite being given what otherwise was a very nice room.
I spent 3 nights here for a conference and was not happy. Its on the edge of Ballarat distant from the city centre (and anything else if you are car-less as I was). Initially I was allocated a room at the far back of the sprawling motel, and after heaving my gear over to it (about 150m) I found it was extremely dark with only a tiny window. So I went all the way back to reception and got reassigned to a room which was marginally better but was also closer to the facilities. I was surprised the rooms in this spread out place were so dark and lacking in windows. They were also very plain in their interiors and features, noting much to speak of. All in all I wouldn't come here by choice.
Chose this for its location to Sovereign Hill and also we could get two roomed apartment. We travelled as Two seniors then family of five who required an apartment. Gave a phone call to check on configuration of room and asked for an extra bed. They offered to put trundle bed in the room. Upon arrival bed was a full bed which had been made up downstairs, this was a lovely surprise as a 16 year old girl does not want to share with her 4 and 8 year old brother. The size of the apartment was huge a full sized kitchen, table to seat six and lounge. Heater worked well. Our room contained a king size bed and was most satisfactory. Souroundings were very pretty along with a pool, no time for swimming this time. Interactions with staff were always pleasant, would recommend staying here
Stayed at the Mercure in Ballarat for a workshop weekend in March 2018. The layout of the hotel with cabin style rooms set in the grounds is really attractive. Loved the garden setting! The room we stayed in was quite spacious and comfortable though the bathroom needed an update. That said, it was very clean and serviceable.
