We stayed here with two other families on a road trip to Calgary. We had started in Vancouver that morning and since travelling with children felt we could travel no further than Golden during the day. There are not many hotel options in Golden. And trying to arrange a hotel on the same day you are staying is not always easy. However we decided to stay in Golden and therefore had to take what we could get. This hotel was the most expensive hotel we stayed at during our 8 night trip, and it was honestly one of my least favorites. I would have felt fine paying approximately $100 for the night like we paid at other Days Inn on our trip, however we paid nearly double that. The room we had was fine, although we were disappointed that we did not have a fridge, we filled up our cooler with ice, and then visited our friends room where we found out they had a whole kitchen at the same price we paid. When I went to the front desk, they said yes we too had a kitchen but we didn't ask for the key when we checked in. They then gave us our key to access the kitchen area, to me this seemed odd. The boys played in the pool which was fine, the room is a little dark, and the bottom of the pool is a weird texture, almost feeling lumpy like it was sand covered by a pool liner. The kids were happy with the waterslide and the hot-tub. We ordered take out from the restaurant for dinner and it was good and the price we paid was fair. We did have a table and chairs in the room which was nice so the children could eat at a table properly. Breakfast in the morning was good. It is easy to get in and out of the hotel from the highway. The beds were comfortable and overall the room was fine, it just seemed very expensive for what we received. However I do understand that do their location they are able to charge a rate like this due to their proximity to Banff. In future if we could stay here at approximately $125 we would stay again. For $200 we would change our plans for driving.
We had the room with the jacuzzi in the room which was a real treat since the town of Golden is not very inspiring. Staff was very friendly and helped us to find a restaurant in town. The room was clean, the bed was great as was the shower. We were travelling and stayed here for one night. We would stay here again.
we stayed in this hotel for one night on the way to edmonton. this hotel is very nice hotel. very comfortable beds. the staff was very helpful and the breakfast was very good. reasturant on the property has the best food.
Stayed at this hotel for one night en route to Calgary. wish I had stayed more. Room was very clean and check in was a breeze. Kids loved the pool while wife enjoyed the valley and mountain views from the balcony. Breakfast was a delight.... all in all , best hotel in Golden.
We came here to stay for business for a week. They offered us stinky, pet friendly rooms with pillows which looked like square logs and felt the same. Unfortunately we were not able to find alternative accommodation and had to suffer through the night. The beds were in similar condition as a hammock bedded with hay. I had to leave my shoes on because of the fear of bacteria infection coming from the carpet. A strip club back room would have been more appealing. Never ever come here again. When we mentioned the conditions, the front desk simply offered a 'i am sorry'. No intend to compensate.
We took our kids on a roadtrip in August, and had a different hotel booked at first to save some money. I changed my mind and decided to treat them to a hotel with a pool & waterslide even though it was over $100 more just for the 1 night. We arrived quite late, around 9pm, checked in and headed to the pool which was closing at 10:30pm. After about 10 minutes and watching my kids do a few slides, I noticed a young boy coughing really badly and his father made him exit the pool and have a rest. My daughter and I were just sitting on the bench watching but we noticed our eyes were starting to hurt from the pool chemicals. A couple minutes later my son came to me and said he felt sick and he began coughing as well. At that point I noticed several people coughing actually. We quickly left and I told my son to head straight for the shower. The entire time he showered he was choking and coughing. Once he settled down, I went to the front desk and told them about all the people having breathing problems and coughing and that I think there's something wrong with the pool, possibly way too much chemical. I also told them the only reason we switched to that hotel was for the pool use, which we didn't really get. Instead I have a son feeling very sick plus $382 was a lot of money for 1 night in a plain room. So I requested they compensate us in some way, maybe issue us a discount. They explained that a 3rd party looks after the pool and the chemical levels are automatically monitored, and there are no alarms going off indicating there's anything wrong. They could not help or compensate me they said. I just feel like if you have a room full of people coughing and kids getting sick after only a few minutes...something IS wrong no matter what your monitors tell you. I also think their prices were outrageous to begin with but was willing to pay it if we could get a couple hours of fun out of it. This never happened and I'm just really feeling ripped off.
The hotel is good to pass by for one night stay. We had fun in the pool(has slide) and the hot tub. Check in was easy and fast. The receptionist was helpful giving us the crib in 5 minutes. Breakfast is acceptable.
Somehow punctured a tire while having dinner in Golden so we had to spend the night in town rather than our favourite spot in Revelstoke. We were very happy to get a room at the last moment. It had two beds and a kitchenette with a full-sized fridge and a stove from the 70s. Although we were only there for one night it would be a good place to stay if you wanted to prepare your own meals for a longer stay. Things were clean and the air-con worked well. The front desk clerk helped me carry some heavy bags down from our top floor room which was nice.
Room was clean and supplied. What can I say? A place to sleep. Their pet policy is pets under 30 lbs but that isn't advertised anywhere nor is the $20 surcharge. Our dogs are 40 lbs. Seriously? An extra 10 lbs makes one ineligible? Breakfast was good. Sausages very good. Scrambled eggs, pancakes, waffles, hash, breads, cereals, coffee. They have a pool but we didn't check it out. Good value for the $$.
We stayed here for two nights. It was about a 40 minute drive to Lake Louise but a reasonable price in comparison. It had good facilities including a gym, laundry and a good breakfast included. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The young man on the front desk had recently moved from Calgary and whatever they are paying him, it isn't enough. He was such a friendly, happy and helpful representative of the hotel. The township is quaint and one of the pubs had good food. We found it a good option to staying in the expensive Lake Louise area.
