Glen Ellen Contemporary Forest Retreat with Private Hot Tub
Summary:
Slip into the hot tub as dusk settles over your private forest sanctuary. This contemporary 3-bedroom retreat sleeps 6 in serene seclusion, with floor-to-ceiling windows framing mature oaks from every room. You're just 0.9 miles from Glen Ellen Star's wood-fired cuisine and Jack London State Historic Park's redwood trails. The deck wraps around towering trees — morning coffee here feels like a meditation.
The Space:
Spend mornings on the deck as light fingers through the oaks, afternoons among Glen Ellen's tasting rooms and Jack London State Historic Park, and evenings under the stars with a glass from the day's tasting-room visits.
A floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace wall anchors the living space, a sectional angled toward the smart TV. Sliding glass doors open fully to the wraparound deck, flooding the room with filtered forest light. Hardwood floors carry the airy feel into the kitchen — quartz counters, shaker cabinets, and a peninsula with bar seating that keeps the cook in the conversation. The six-person dining table sits beneath a linear pendant, and the primary bath finishes with a soaking tub and a glass-enclosed shower.
OUTDOOR LIVING
The wraparound deck is your outdoor room among the trees — dining set, lounge furniture, and bench seating across composite decking with black cable railings. Your private hot tub sits in a wood-sided enclosure, perfectly positioned for stargazing through the canopy.
SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS
The primary suite occupies its own wing with a California king bed, office nook, and direct deck access. Its en-suite features a soaking tub, glass-enclosed shower with marble-look tile, double vanity, and bidet. Two queen bedrooms both open to the deck via sliding glass doors. Sleeps 6.

Guest Access:
Slide open the floor-to-ceiling doors to a deck framed by mature trees, drop into the private hot tub, then come back inside to the natural-stone fireplace wall in the great room. The whole home is yours, with a BBQ and outdoor dining set up on the deck in the Valley of the Moon. Punch in the keypad code on arrival; the driveway holds up to four cars.
The Neighborhood:
Your Glen Ellen hideaway puts you at the heart of Sonoma Valley's most charming village. Walk the trails at Jack London State Historic Park just 0.9 miles away, where the author's historic ranch and redwood groves await. Dine at Michelin-recognized Glen Ellen Star (0.9 mi) for wood-fired seasonal dishes, or start your morning with French pastries at Les Pascals (0.9 mi). Benziger Family Winery's famous biodynamic tractor tours are just 0.6 miles down the road, while intimate tastings await at Laurel Glen Vineyard (0.9 mi) and Mayo Family Winery (1.2 mi). Stock up on provisions at Glen Ellen Village Market (0.9 mi) or explore the boutiques at Jack London Village (1.3 mi). For a special evening, book ahead at Songbird Parlour (1.3 mi) for their six-course tasting menu. The Sonoma Botanical Garden's 47 acres of walking paths are nearby, while Sonoma Valley Regional Park (1.4 mi) offers easy hiking with vineyard views.
Getting Around:
Glen Ellen is about 75 minutes from San Francisco via 101 and Highway 12 — a scenic drive through Sonoma Valley vineyards. Your driveway accommodates up to 4 vehicles comfortably. A car makes Sonoma Valley easy to explore — tasting rooms, restaurants, and parks run up and down Highway 12. For tasting days, plan a designated driver or book a rideshare ahead — it makes the whole day easier.
Other Things to Note:
The property features security cameras monitoring the gate, driveway, and creek area for your safety. The home has air conditioning for warm days, and also stays naturally cool thanks to the forest canopy and cross-ventilation from multiple sliding doors. The decorative fireplace adds ambiance but isn't operational. Beyond the deck railing lies a creek with steep ledges — the area past the fence line is not for guest use. Swimming in the creek is not permitted for safety reasons. Your forest setting means wildlife sightings are common — deer often graze nearby at dusk. Cell service can be spotty in the hills, but the Wi-Fi is reliable for streaming and remote work. Quiet hours from 10 PM to 7 AM help preserve the tranquil atmosphere. The primary renter must be 25 or older.
The vacation home is air-conditioned and features a kitchen and a balcony. Other standard amenities include a washing machine, a fireplace, and a coffee maker.

Quiet & peaceful
We were close to wineries for touring/tasting. Our favorite part was how close we were to hiking in the state parks/mountains!

Treehouse reverie
A newly remodeled spacious home in a beautiful treehouse setting. Lovingly, appointed and user-friendly.
Nice, reconditioned 3 bedroom home. Only issues were hot tub had brown scum line and flowties, and sewer ejector pump that was loud under or near a bedroom. Great locatuon for Glen Ellen, and Sanoma.
The house does not have regular cable tv, only Apple TV...so tv can be fairly limited .
We loved the house - it was perfect for our group of 4! One couple, two singles. The house was very comfortable, and it was nice to have the bedrooms separated by the living space in the middle. The view to the forest and creek was beautiful. We used the hot tub one night (it was a little rainy during our trip) and it was wonderful. The little town of Glen Ellen was super cute. Highly recommend the French bakery, Les Pascals, the local grocery store, the Glen Ellen Village Market, and two local restaurants - the fig cafe and wine bar and Glen Ellen Star.
Only suggestion - there were only 6 wine glasses in the house! Our group drank wine every night and it would have been great to have more glasses (stemmed and stemless).
Would definitely recommend and stay again.

Beautiful place, but we will not recommend or return with the current management Vacasa running it
It was a beautiful property, and we were amazed by the view of the creek. The place was quaint and comfortable. Unfortunately, we were surprised by the management company's disregard for necessities that we thought were basic. The back-and-forth negotiations by text and phone to get support made the first three days of our five-day trip difficult. We were five women, two with special needs. Below were the issues:
1. We didn't have enough bath towels. Although it was a special needs request asking for a few more towels, they repeatedly contested by phone and text, unwilling to provide us with two additional bath towels. I could have mentioned this as an ADA issue (e.g., Americans with Disabilities Act special accommodations), but I felt I didn't need to because it was such a basic request. Instead, they told us to wash the insufficient towels we had.
2. We didn't get enough toilet paper from the very start. We get that we have to buy more the longer we stay. Vacasa said they left enough rolls for three days. We only had a two-days supply. We never had this issue with other VRBO properties. We wished we had known this upfront because we had to keep going back and forth to the store.
3. The broken coffee machine. We drink coffee regularly. Before the trip, I asked about the type of machine to bring the appropriate coffee grounds. When we woke up the first morning, we discovered the coffee machine didn't work. This was a significant, unexpected inconvenience.
We graciously asked for assistance with these three issues without help from any Vacasa associates. Only after multiple requests across days and conversations with supervisors did they supply a new coffee machine, toilet paper, and towels on the third day of our five-day trip. These issues and the landscaper blowing the leaves as we checked in took away from the home's charm and our vacation. Despite their claims that "customer service was a priority," we never felt this was true. We sincerely liked the house but will only return if the Vacasa Management Company isn't managing it.
