We had a slight mishap with our room card not working so we had to spend about 30 minutes getting that sorted out and it ended in us getting a different room. Just a small problem. The room we got in the end was beautiful and modern, the beds were VERY comfortable and the bathroom in particular was very well done. We only had a small problem with the table being very wobbly and a lot of the lights not seeming to work without a combination of the switches in the room being on or off. Again, small problems. Overall, the rooms were great. Our breakfast experience was a little odd, they had put our coach group of people into the conference room at the far end of the hotel, I'm not sure if they do this with other groups. The selection of food was quite scarce, not unacceptable but just a little on the simple side. A very close walk to a convenience store, there's food and supplies nearby if the restaurant is closed at night. Overall, a good stay.
This hotel is very average at best, and certianly not what you would expect from the Marriott Hotel chain. I think the best adjective to describe this hotel is "random." It's in a random residential area far from any of the tourist areas, port or train station, the architecture is a random glass and steel structure that looked more like something from the school of Socialist Realism. Many of the glass pains were broken or stained, giving the building a really shabby appearance. The staff were friendly enough but definitely were steeting guests to the usual tourist traps. I am always left wondering if they get some sort of a kick-back for doing this. I am certain that they do not frequent the establishments that they recommend to unsuspecting tourists. The breakfast was quite good, but in line with what you would expect from a business hotel chain. I would certainly not classify this hotel as a 4*, however. It was a solid 3*. By the way, given that the bathroom walls and door are made of glass, you need to be really comfortable with your travelling companion if you are sharing a room. There is not privacy at all.
Our tour group stayed overnight at this hotel and I am very happy to say that this hotel was located in a very convenient place. Right outside is a grocery, a pizzeria just across the street, bus stop going to the city is near the hotel and just around 20-25 mins walk you will be right on the beautiful beach . I am recommending this AC Hotels by Marriott in Genova Italy to friends and family
We stayed here three years ago and enjoyed our stay... this is why we decided to stay in again . The hotel is nice , the staff are helpful, but the rooms need an upgrade especially the bathroom . Breakfast was nice. The hotel is really easy to access and drive out if you are planning on visiting cinque terre, st margarita, portofino, etc In short a good place to stay if you are with children, on business, or planning day trips in and out of the city.
We just stayed here for one night. The hotel is worn out I have to say, it needs proper maintenance and renovation. The mattress was not comfortable, air conditioning was not working very well and the breakfast is average at best. We had 2 nights prior to this visit in the sister hotel in Turin and it was definitely much better quality product. The only thing that made up for the visit are the hotel staff especially at reception as well as hotel manager.
We stayed in this hotel after hiking the Cinque Terre. It was not our favorite. We checked in late at night and the lobby of the hotel was fine, however, our room was not. The shower had black mold in it and the room smelled like smoke. We asked to switch rooms and the 2nd room was just as bad as the first. We were only there for one night and left the next morning. We would not choose to stay here again.
The reception was friendly and helpful; the room large and very comfortable. We would have preferred a separate shower than one over the bath, but otherwise the bathroom was well appointed and the toiletries were excellent. The receptionist directed us to a restaurant but it was not a safe walk. As the hotel in not in the tourist area, maybe a shuttle service should be offered. Breakfast was good value and pleasant. This hotel is perfect for business travellers, but not in a good tourist location.
Do not stay at this hotel if you need wifi!!! I was at this hotel from a Wednesday through Monday. During that time, wifi was limited or non existent. I liked the hotel; the staff are friendly, the rooms are large, clean and comfortable, the breakfast (12 euro) is delicious with a wide range of foods, etc. Dinner can be served upstairs on the sixth floor. If it rains- ask at reception for an umbrella. The hotel is 3 minutes walk from the international school of genoa; very conveniently situated! Something that I missed having was a kettle; there was no tea or coffee facilities in my room. The prosecco is 5 euros per glass and they bring lovely snacks (cheese, olives, bread) for you to enjoy with your wine :-) You can catch the number 17 bus to the port from across the road, or to the coast for 1.50. The hotel sells tickets at reception. If you do not need access to wifi- stay here! However, if you do need access- this is not the place you will get it.
Not an area you want to be walking around at night. No other hotels nearby. Sorry residential area. Quite a walk to get to the shore area with a few restaurants. Stayed for 2 nights then moved to a hotel in the heart of action. Nice to have a market behind the hotel to get waters, etc. Food in hotel restaurant was decent if you had no other options. WiFi was horrendous/non-existent.
I really wanted a hotel closer to the city center but since we booked at the last minute this was our only choice. The hotel doesn't seem to be in the best neighborhood. The room was better than expected after seeing the outside of the hotel. We had a jr suite and it was plenty large. The bathroom was very nice and clean. Room air conditioning was lovely. Mini bar was included in our stay. Overall I would have preferred a different location but the helpful front desk staff instructed us on the bus service and gave us a nap to the aquarium. So we were thankful for that.
