We arrived around 21.00 and the parking was full. Receptionist told me that they have about 20 spots and there are 139 rooms. Hence it is unlikely that one finds a spot late in the evening. I checked in, room 202. Asked for iron and iron board. they came quickly but ironboard didn’t have legs (it was just a board) Later when I tried internet it wasn’t working. Called reception, someone came and fixed. But that lasted 10 mins. This process releated itself 2 more times and I gave up. I decided the take a shower. After shower I saw the floor was all wet. I wiped it up and but wetness returned. Later I figured out the bathtub was leaking. I explained my issues in the morning at the reception. Coralba, a kind receptonist, gave me the potential reasons why internet may not be working (the primary reason was - too many people). She offerred me 2 bottles of water, I said “thank you”. Breakfast was okay, staff was friendly. But I would not consider staying again.
We stayed one night in the middle of a tour. The hotel is located away from the tourist spots. The rooms were well maintained with a standard decor. The cleaning was correct. The service of the restaurant was very good and the breakfast was adequate. Staff attentive and professional.
The only reason I have chosen this hotel was its brand or belonging to Marriott family. The location is not central, but manageable. I personally used taxi because of my heavy luggage, although the bus 17 from Brignole train station stops in front of the hotel. Taxi price from hotel to Principe station was 15 eur. It is also important to say that Coop supermarket is adjacent to the hotel. According to my experience with AC hotel in Pisa the day before, I had small expectations - but this AC hotel was significantly better. There were some issues during check-in process, but it was compensated instantly and gratefully. I was immediately recognized as an elite member and had got all benefits I should get. The room design belongs to last decade, but comparing to the one in Pisa it is in much better state. Everything (room and bathroom) was clean, as it should be, and the room is of decent size. From the other side – the lobby is nicely decorated. Every member of the staff was very polite and professional. There were some mistakes made by front desk staff, but as I said before it was compensated at once. The food was really good. The part of the compensation I have got was free room service, so I ordered a full menu and I must say that everything was delicious. I would pinpoint the trofie with pesto Genovese – local dish which I really enjoyed. The breakfast was much better comparing the one in Pisa, both in quality and in selection. I could say that was a standard breakfast for the hotel of this category where you certainly can find something for yourself. There are two negative things I have found. The first is that they did not respond to my e-mail with request for some information, and the second was the time at which breakfast starts. I had an early train and breakfast at 7.30 was very inconvenient. These two things, together with its location and mistakes I mentioned earlier is the reason I give them 4 instead of 5 stars. To conclude, the location is not central, but in other aspects it was nice hotel which fully suits its categorization. If you are Marriott member - as I am - it would be really shame to lose points. Although, from a standpoint of location – there are better options in Genova.
The staff there were not friendly - when we arrived, the mod-haired staff receptionist was curt and did not ask about my Platinum Elite status, told us (when reminded of my status) that they "did not offer Elite members gifts", and seemed genuinely put out that we had interrupted his computer work to check in. Now the room was comfortable, at least, but the amenities were Days Inn quality. The sheets seemed a bit stale and damp, but the bathroom was clean. I have learned to rate AC Hotels as Marriott's budget line properties - and unfortunately, their service seems to support that noton.
Friendly and efficient check-in, room had been upgraded prior to arrival (platinum member), gift in room and bonus points--all appreciated. Room was large, contemporary, very clean. Parking under the hotel at 15 euros per night, twenty minute drive to downtown Genoa. Supermarket next door. Enjoyed view from roof terrace. Front desk provides code to those who receive free high speed wifi.
I spent there one night. The hotel is nice and the rooms are cleanand quite spacious. The people at th front desk were all very nice and provided information and useful Indications about the area. The price was very good for the hotellevel it is. The only black spot is that the bathroom I had was a bit too dark. May bebe ause i git a room also suitable for disables.
We stayed here as part of a 2 week Italy tour for 2 nights. We had a very pleasant stay! The rooms are very modern and up to date, spacey and comfortable. Bathrooms are nice and clean. Staff is very friendly. Only downside, is parking is not always easy, as the hotel has limited parking space, however the next door coop has some parking spaces outside the shop which is accessible overnight as well. I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely come back!
We had a slight mishap with our room card not working so we had to spend about 30 minutes getting that sorted out and it ended in us getting a different room. Just a small problem. The room we got in the end was beautiful and modern, the beds were VERY comfortable and the bathroom in particular was very well done. We only had a small problem with the table being very wobbly and a lot of the lights not seeming to work without a combination of the switches in the room being on or off. Again, small problems. Overall, the rooms were great. Our breakfast experience was a little odd, they had put our coach group of people into the conference room at the far end of the hotel, I'm not sure if they do this with other groups. The selection of food was quite scarce, not unacceptable but just a little on the simple side. A very close walk to a convenience store, there's food and supplies nearby if the restaurant is closed at night. Overall, a good stay.
This hotel is very average at best, and certianly not what you would expect from the Marriott Hotel chain. I think the best adjective to describe this hotel is "random." It's in a random residential area far from any of the tourist areas, port or train station, the architecture is a random glass and steel structure that looked more like something from the school of Socialist Realism. Many of the glass pains were broken or stained, giving the building a really shabby appearance. The staff were friendly enough but definitely were steeting guests to the usual tourist traps. I am always left wondering if they get some sort of a kick-back for doing this. I am certain that they do not frequent the establishments that they recommend to unsuspecting tourists. The breakfast was quite good, but in line with what you would expect from a business hotel chain. I would certainly not classify this hotel as a 4*, however. It was a solid 3*. By the way, given that the bathroom walls and door are made of glass, you need to be really comfortable with your travelling companion if you are sharing a room. There is not privacy at all.
Our tour group stayed overnight at this hotel and I am very happy to say that this hotel was located in a very convenient place. Right outside is a grocery, a pizzeria just across the street, bus stop going to the city is near the hotel and just around 20-25 mins walk you will be right on the beautiful beach . I am recommending this AC Hotels by Marriott in Genova Italy to friends and family
