Welcome to Knotty Squirrel! Photos don’t do justice to the beauty of the mountains visible from the decks of Knotty Squirrel. Nor do they fully depict how spacious and lovely Knotty Squirrel itself is. Furnished in true refined rustic style, the 5-bedroom log home can sleep 15 people among its 3 floors. It offers plenty of spaces large enough to accommodate the whole gang and then some.
Knotty Squirrel is located in Gatlinburg’s private Cobbly Nob neighborhood, part of a 1,000-acre resort. When you stay here in the summer you’ll have free access to 2 pool areas (approximately a 10 minute drive), and year-round you can stroll among the neighborhood's walking trails. As you gaze out at the woodlands and mountains you’ll feel far from the crowd. Yet the lodge is just a short drive from the Gatlinburg Arts & Crafts Loop and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The attractions of downtown Gatlinburg are a 20 minute drive. And here’s a bonus for any golfers in your group: At the foot of Cobbly Nob, less than 10 minutes from Knotty Squirrel, is Bent Creek Golf Course, designed by Masters and British Open champion Gary Player. We have one of the best unobstructed views in the area but please be advised that there are some sharp, steep roads leading to our cabin. As owners, we have not ever had an issue making the trip up. Snowy weather can be tricky so please plan accordingly if you'd like to book with us in winter.
A large game room makes up most of the lower level, and it’s packed with options for whiling away a rainy day (or a sunny one, for that matter): pool and ping-pong tables, foosball, tabletop shuffleboard, and a TV. There is a set of twin bunkbeds in the game room area for additional sleeping. There is also a bedroom with a king-sized bed and double futon with an attached full bathroom on the lower level.
A larger TV can be found in the den on the top floor. Furnished with comfy seating, this room also a bistro table where you can play cards, work on jigsaw puzzles. Yet another TV and all-around gathering space is the living room on the main floor. With its luxe leather sofas, cushioned wicker-style armchairs, and stone-surround fireplace, the living room is a particularly elegant place to watch TV or read.
Equally elegant is the dining area. At least twelve people can sit comfortably at the table, and another two can sidle up to the adjacent breakfast bar. Even if you planned to eat most of your meals at one of the myriad nearby restaurants, once you see Knotty Squirrel’s kitchen you might change your mind. After all, it’s always more fun to cook in someone else’s kitchen, especially one as well-equipped and spacious.
Three of the five bedrooms are upstairs, with the master bedroom on the main floor. The lushly furnished master suite includes a king-size bed and a glamorous bathroom with both a shower and a soaking tub. Two of the upstairs bedrooms have queen-size beds; with their sloped walls, raftered ceilings, and stunning views, they’re exceptionally charming. One of these bedrooms even has French doors that open onto a balcony. The 4th bedroom will delight the kids with its bunk beds and a built-in nook that has another twin bed. The lower level fifth bedroom has a king-sized bed and double futon . There is a set of twin bunks in the game room area.
And let’s not forget about Knotty Squirrel’s spacious decks. The lower deck is home to the hot tub, sure to be a popular spot for admiring the mountain view—especially after a day spent hiking, biking, or whitewater rafting. The wraparound upper deck has plenty of seating so that everyone can bask in the sunshine, the crisp mountain breeze, and the singing of chickadees in the morning and whip-poor-wills at night.
Please note that we have 5 new smart TV's available to use with your favorite streaming service. This means live TV may not be available depending on which streaming service you personally subscribe to. TV's are located in the main level living room and master bedroom. Upstairs there is a TV in the loft area, and in the lower level game room., and lower level bedroom.

Perfect Cabin
The cabin sits high on the hilltop with amazing views from the wrap around porch and every window. Our family, from our 2 year old granddaughters to my 70 year old husband, we all had a wonderful time in the game room and just hanging out together. Thanks for a great stay.

Great cabin with an amazing view of the Great Smoky Mountains.
We had a nice getaway at the cabin. Enjoyed mornings with coffee and a view. The pictures do not do it justice. The cabin was clean, towels and linens were clean, and check-in was smooth. Hot tub was nice and relaxing after a day of hiking. Kids enjoyed the game room. The cabin had just about everything you could need, but we could not find a pizza cutter. The size of the grill is a bit small for the amount of people the cabin can sleep and the location of the grill is in the middle of brush, which could be dangerous, but we made it work. The cabin was away from the hustle and bustle of Gatlinburg, which made it a nice relaxing retreat to come back to everyday. A lot of great hiking trails within 30 minutes away and beautiful mountain drives. Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge are close by and have plenty of tourist things to do. We would recommend getting out early to beat the rush. We did get to see a black bear on the way up to the cabin one day. I do recommend locking your vehicle doors at all times when you are not actively there. The night before leaving I was packing up the truck. Decided to eat dinner so closed the tailgate and shut the truck cap window. After dinner, came out to continue packing only to realize that a bear must have figured out how to get into the truck cap. Paper towel was dug into and it must have made off with our container of lemonade and bag of paper plates. They were no where to be found! Many great memories made! We plan to be back! Thank you Laura!

The Log Home was excactly what we wanted. Even though there were 5 of us we really enjoyed the spacious home. The views were fantistic. Great to be just outside of Gatlinburg but close enough to visit. The cleanliness rating was only for the cookware, the rest of the property was great. The game room and hot tub was well utilized.

beautiful view
when we arrived we were greeted by mamma bear and her 3 cubs. very exciting!!!! however the keypad on the front door didn't work so we had to use the key for the entire trip. the views are spectacular but the roads are very narrow and steep with hair pin turns in places. the kitchen was stocked with most you would need however pizza pans provided but no pizza cutter. the one queen bedroom with the balcony is in need of a mattress change, when we got into bed we folded up like a taco. very uncomfortable. the owners are very easy to work with and very friendly. if we had a large group again I would consider choosing this property again.

Knotty Squirrel
Very glad we decided to go with the Knotty Squirrel for our family vacation. Plenty of things to do in the cabin as a group, but also plenty of space to spread out for some privacy if desired. And the view is gorgeous from the back deck! We also loved being greeted by numerous bears throughout our stay!
If i had to make any suggestions they would be to provide several more towels (both bath and kitchen), consider replacing the couch downstairs (it's starting to sit very low), try to get more light in certain areas of the bedrooms, and be sure the cleaning personnel get the floor well especially underneath furniture (we pulled out previous tenants' water bottles from under the couch). All in all, had a great stay and would definitely use this cabin again!

Knotty Squirrel is a beautiful cabin & the view is gorgeous. Cabin was exactly what we expected for a stay in Gatlinburg for the week & even a couple bear visits right on the property. We had a couple issues that needed to be addressed & the maintenance crew acted on very quickly. Highly recommend the his cabin.

Great weekend trip
This cabin has amazing views and is very spacious. We spent many mornings sitting out on the deck and taking in the greenery. We spotted a brown bear walking around the neighborhood a couple of times but it didn't bother us at all and we really liked the atmosphere
The only downside of the property is that the sound carries through the whole space very easily. We had a group of friends and many

It looked to go to be true online but I was not disappointed. The kitchen was spacious and very well equipped. The view was incredible and it was very private. After a busy day of touring gatlinburg and pigeon forge we always came back to play games in the game room. I cannot recommend this property enough.

Memorial Day Week
I would like to start by saying the Cabin was great ! The views were spectacular and the accommodations were wonderful for such a large group. We bought our entire family, 4 children with spouses and 3 grandchildren. There were several things that were amazing
*ample parking, for such a large group parking was fantastic. We are only 90 minutes from Gatlinburg. Cabins in the past this has been a major issue
*Cabin size was great, 5 bedrooms were perfect with, Large dining area and sitting areas we never felt cramped or overcrowded.
Suggestions or minor issues:
* some of the game tables were in minor disrepair or had missing pieces this is simply a detail issue that may have been over looked.
*limited linen, we brought pools towels etc. but for such a large group bathing towels we’re limited again minor issue.
*distance from attractions was slightly more than we anticipated, would probably choose a location closer in the future simply to reduce drive time
More significant concerns:
*landscaping around the lower patio was neglected, with overgrowth encroaching on the patio
*the hot tub had minimal if any maintenance or upkeep. There was a significant odor when the cover was removed. Our grandchildren mentioned this to us after using it. Once investigated there was NO chlorine in the water. I attempted to leave a more in depth review but was unable due to the character limit.

Stunning Panoramic Views
This cabin is an absolute dream with epic views of the smoky mountains. All of the rooms are gorgeous and better than pictured. The great room opens to a terrace with a picnic table, swing and rocking chairs. The kitchen is well-equipped and the check-in, wifi, property detail instructions were crystal clear. I brought a yoga retreat here and we had plenty of space, peaceful sitting areas and room to move about. We hiked Rainbow Falls and went White Water rafting on the Pigeon River, with both excursions being about a 30 minute drive from the cabin. The drive up to the cabin is winding and steep and if you want an epic view, you have to know that's coming. The hot tub was amazing after hiking and white water rafting and also fabulous to take a dip with morning coffee. Oh and there's access to Charlie's Bunion on the Appalachian Trail about an hour away from the cabin, for those who want to take on a chunk of the famous hiking path. Overall my group and I loved, loved, loved the property and as the coordinator, I loved that we were able to access fun shopping and dining in Gatlinburg, hiking and beautiful scenery as well as white water rafting, all within about a 30 minute drive.

Anniversary Trip - surprise 60th!!
We recently stayed in this beautiful cabin. The cabin had plenty of rooms for each of us and the grandchildren. The porch swing was amazing, and the grands loved swinging and running around the porch. The weather was rainy, but we were able to adjust and take in some attractions. The hot tub was great and enjoyable. Laura was available prior to and during our stay. She even reached out to us during our stay to see if everything was ok. We will defiantly return to this cabin as it was on the mountainside and close to town it was perfect for us...our only complaint was we didn't stay long enough to enjoy EVERYTHING this cabin had to offer! Thank you for opening your home to us and our family!

Family Friendly Rustic, Cozy, with Modern Accommodations
The photos and description of the cabin and property were right on. Family from NY, NC, MS, and TX met here to enjoy a week of being together just hanging out, and to do some sight seeing of the beautiful Smoky Mountains. It was beautiful, even in March. The house was large enough to accommodate the 15 people that included both children and adults. The bedrooms were spread out so that we were not on top of each other and were able to have privacy when needed. The common areas were big enough for all of us to be together comfortably. I would highly recommend this property. This is a great place to house a family gathering or a group of friends in a quiet place in the mountains, yet it is close enough to downtown Gatlinburg for family fun as well. I gave communication 5 stars. I do suggest you be prepared to utilize technology to communicate. Management is quick to respond. We did have an issue with the TV connections, but it was because the owner is attempting to improve the quality of TV and had just switched the provider/venue. Fortunately, we didn't watch much TV, as the fellowship and sights were more important to us. I am sure they will work out the TV situation as they learn more about how it works. All in all, I would definitely go back to this house. It is absolutely beautiful, well maintained, with both the rustic appearance and modern accommodations. We loved it.
