Just a so so tired motel. We checked in and found room had a bad musty smell. Asked for another and manager was very accommodating...but same type of smell. We were too tired to move and endured. On the bright side the beds were quite comfortable. Next time we’ll spend a few more dollars and go down the street
On my way from Atlanta to Huntsville, i stopped at the Lakeside Inn for the night. Honestly, i didn’t have high expectations when i walked into the lobby....it was obviously a mom and pop operation, but what struck me was the bullet-proof glass at the after-hours counter.. But, since I was solo and just looking for an economical and decent place to crash for the night, i wasn’t picky... The outside of the building looked decent, but my expectations for the room pretty much panned out, however.... The room was definitely no-frills: an old CRT TV (c’mon guys, in this day and age, a flat-screen should be standard!) , kinda dimly-lit, few pictures on the funky colored walls, cheesy repairs done to the sink and countertop, the fridge and microwave have seen better days etc.... The free wi-fi seemed a bit slow and unreliable as it dropped out on me a few times.... Considering there were only a few people staying that night, that shouldn't be.... On the upside, the fairly spacious room was clean, and the King bed was reasonably comfortable.... Also, i kinda liked the idea of the built-in fridge and micro as they don’t clutter the room.... The room also featured a sofa-bed. Location was so-so... It’s located very close to the lake, and appears to have plenty of parking for boat trailers, which is good.... On the other hand, it’s right next to busy Highway US-431 at the bottom of a long, steep hill......which meant just about every northbound semi-truck was engine-braking down the hill, which=a LOT of noise at all hours of the day..... I solved that problem by running the fan all night, which drowned out most of the noise..... The continental breakfast was below average—very few choices for cereal, no bread for toast, no protein, no yogurt......very low budget...... So bring your own vittles, or expect to eat out.... So, overall, i’m rating the Lakeside Inn at a 2 1/2, but since TA doesn’t allow half points, i dinged them down to a 2......mainly because for a few bucks more, they could’ve put out a decent breakfast spread, and that old tube TV has gotta go...... But if all you’re looking for is a no-frills motel at ~$65/nite, and the other places in town are booked, the Lakeside Inn is a reasonable place to stay........
we asked the price for a room for 4 adults. A man quoted 64.78. we asked for a roll away bed- he stated 10.00 more. We took it. Total charged was 64.78 plus 10.00 for roll away plus tax - 84.00. We discovered the roll away would not fit so we asked for 10.00 refund. He said ok - but a lady told us he had not charged us enough for 4 people in 1 room so no refund. We argued that he had quoted the price and she had to honor it . She said he did not "mean" to quote that price- he misunderstood us. If we wanted the room we have to pay 84.00 but without the roll away. We asked for a full refund and left. This is a budget motel, so you get what you pay for- older, musty room-plus- they may or may not quote you the price they will charge you.
Parking was convienant. We asked for bottom floor because I just had knee surgery. They accommodated. Room was outdated but seemingly clean. There was dust around the baseboards and a couple of hairs in the bathroom. It had a smell I can't describe. It was just a faint smell. Just an outdated hotel. We would stay there again, it was not a bad stay. Convenient to several restaurants and activities.
The hotel is infested with bed bugs! I woke in the middle of the night because bed bugs were biting me from head to toe. I now have infected bed bug bites all over my body and my left eye is swollen shut. Hotel management admitted they knew about the infestation and their excuse was that "all hotels in Guntersville, AL have bed bugs." No kidding the manager said that to me. Furthermore, the hotel manager refused to do anything such as pay for my medical treatment, move me to another hotel, etc. NOTHING! I have pictures of live bed bugs crawling in the bed I was sleeping in and pictures of the bites on my body if you would like to see them. This place is a health hazard and needs to be shut down!! I reported this hotel to the county health department before leaving town.
I would not recommend this place to anyone. There was a lizard in my room, the coffee pot was so nasty and grimy. The shower curtain has mildew all over it(not to mention how terrible the bathroom smells like urine). The toilet leaks and barely flushes. There were numerous cigarette burns in the comforter. My bed doesn't even have a fitted sheet on it. There was a beetle in the bathroom floor when I first got here. The floors turned my feet pitch black and there's a hole between my door and the outside of the building. This place isn't worth 15$ a night
Nice and clean for the money. Close to lake Guntersville and restaurants. We wanted to stay a couple extra days this was within our budget. Enjoyed our stay and nice friendly staff. Would stay here again if we come back.
good motel, clean room everything worked. security chain broken off door. friendly staff .will be staying there again for future trips to fish guntersville bass tournaments.plenty of parking for boats .
Older motel with smoking rooms and continental breakfast! Like the early check in and location to late night restaurants! Lots of shopping locations near by and nice location to avoid traffic to get to Snead!
being new to area, was not sure what to expect, was not overwhelmed or excited with accommodations. The air conditioning was very good, but that was the only highlight. our host was moderately friendly and informative with the area, the room was clean but parking area was in need of major repair and the pool was out of service during the hottest season on record.
