Try for a room at the back or high up. 1st floor at the front can be very noisy in the evenings. Rooms a little cold during the day. We had an inadequate radiator in the bathroom. No heated towel rail or floor.
Stay at the First Hotel Grand was excellent, great location the First Hotel Grand is locate in a nice central area within walking distance to great restaurants and easy train station access. The service was excellent and friendly. I would recommend the First Hotel Grand to visitors.
A great hotel with a modern and abundant breakfast, nice decor, spacious rooms and good smelling bath products! Everything was sorted professionally and fast, curtains really darkened the room, downstairs lobby bar is very nice. The room was a bit chilly but not cold, and you could hear some of the noise from outside (windows are single layer like in everywhere in Denmark) but I would warmly recommend this place. Location also abs lately great, very central!
The hotel is well located with the city center and the train station within walking distance. The rooms are clean and the staff is very professional and helpful. The rooms come well-equipped for a business type of visit: they have an ironing board and an iron, a working desk and a small notebook with a pen, a safe, and a rather simple Wi-Fi access (not sure how secure it is, though). The restaurant serves a buffet type breakfast and it is rather good, even though it is the same every day. The hotel seems to be favoured by travelers, as I have not seen a single Danish speaking guest there throughout my stay. There are a few drawbacks though: 1. The rooms and the whole hotel seems to be a bit old and the walls/ceiling are damaged by what seems to be humidity. Whey state that they are working on it, but I have not seen any improvements since my last visit a year ago. 2. The views outside the window and the noise levels really depend on the room you get. Some are nice and some - not so much. What I got this time was a room with a view directly into a multi-level parking lot which was actally taller than the room I was in, resulting in me having the window blinds closed at all times. 3. Their solution for a splash-guard in the shower of this particular room is not a very smart one. The bathroom floor gets all wet after taking a shower. 4. The rooms can get rather chilly during Autumn. I have noticed that last time as well, when I was visiting in September. All in all it is a great hotel, but for the price they charge, I would expect their design solutions to be a bit more modern.
Overal good stay, very nice personel, great bartender Johnny Depp lookalike and Tanja at the reception was great. Tanja called the restaurant in the city center that we would be late. The badrooms are below the current marketstandard. Very smelly sink. Has been informed at the reception and hope they will fix it. I believe that it's time to renovate the bathrooms since they do not fit anymore the current marketstandards.
Hotel is located in the center of town. Very good accommodation. Nice and luxery rooms. The food is good and a various served breakfast. Excellent service and very friendly staff. You feel like being in your second home.
The hotel is really nice, the location is central in Odense and the staff is very attentive and give a high level of service. Room is clean and there is a nice large bath top (at least in room 116). However, the breakfast buffet was not at all what I expected: I have been reading a lot of different reviews for the hotel’s breakfast, I have always believed that the positive reviews were the ones to believe, but in my case that was unfortunately not right: Sunday breakfast is served from 07:00 (I think) to 10:30. I came down at 09:45. The breakfast restaurant has a high ceiling, due to the amount of people (the restaurant was packed) the sound level was incredible loud. After getting at bel I learned that there was hardly nothing left on the buffet, no scrambled eggs, no waffles, no Pancakes, no more cold cuts for the bread (that did not really matter because the loafs of bread were all frozen !) no more cheese, no more milk in the cappuccino machines. The poor waiters were doing a great job trying to cover for the kitchen; however, the planning of the kitchen was a disaster! Once the food was back on the buffet it turned out to be your average catered food – dry waffles and pancakes and pre sliced cold cuts. The bread obviously was bake off (nothing wrong with that as long as it is not frozen) however, the coffee was good My advise: See if you can get a room with-out the breakfast and then go to one of the nearby cafes for breakfast, like the Gertrud – they serve a very nice breakfast.
This was our second time at First Grand hotel Odense. Generally the hotel is very nice, but the facilities are getting to be quite outdated + it is bit of a shame that despite announcement in the room the Sunday brunch and actually the whole restaurant was closed on Sunday. I hope that next year we will see some improvements.
My first experienced with this hotel and also the first to this scenic town, Odense. I have informed the hotel (the same day afternoon) I will be checking in late in the evening and they responded quickly. I arrived the town by train, from the station it was about 10 minutes walk to the hotel. It was easily spotted and the lobby feels welcoming. Check in was at ease. Room was spacious and attached with a huge bathroom. This is an ECO hotel, so there is no heater during summer, they provided a table fan. Do ask for a room away from the Main Street / facing the pubs downstairs if you are a light sleeper. Breakfast was simple and it's the same menu daily. The location of the hotel made easy to walk around the town and also travel by the public transport. A pleasant stayed in First Hotel Grand and Odense.
This hotel is situated in a magnificent building just a short walk from the railway station. Reception was first rate with the offer of fresh coffee, lovely. The room were large, well equipped with very comfortable beds. Bathroom was large and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was superb. Only sorry that we only had one night here. Must return in the future.
