Zarco b&b is an affordable place to stay in central Funchal. For the price, we were not expecting frills, and there certainly were none. It is a very basic hotel. The breakfast each day was really good value, with a wide selection of continental breakfast foods, including freshly baked croissants and cakes, and lots of fresh fruit. They even offer to make you a packed breakfast to order if you need to leave early before the breakfast service begins.
The room itself was basic but clean and did the job.
The staff were super friendly and helpful, especially the man who works evenings.
The hotel is situated right in central Funchal on a bustling street, which can be very noisy at night. I would definitely bring ear plugs! Getting around Funchal from there is super easy though, and all the major sights in central Funchal are less than a 10 minute walk away so it is super convenient. There is also a really good car park nearby if you are renting a car (Almirante Reis car park).
Overall I would highly recommend this b&b if you are looking for something cheap and basic with a good breakfast included, and if you don’t plan to be in the hotel much.
