Despite being a "basic" hotel it has a far higher standard than expected. The apartments are of a good size and very clean. The view from our apartment was excellent. Overlooking the pools and a good seaview. The beach and main shopping area under 5 minutes away. There are quite a few steps to climb and a bit of an uphill walk for someone my age (71) but soon got used to it. For self catering stays there are plenty shops to get provisions. We went half board. The restaurant was fairly large with a very good choice of food. The only downside to the hotel was the lack of a kettle. We asked at reception to be told they are not available. Encountered this previously on another of the Canary Islands. The walk along the beach from the harbour to the lighthouse is both relaxing and a very good way to get a basic tan. We walked it a few times and came home very tanned indeed. The walk goes through the nudist beach so if you are shy I would give it a miss. A thoroughly enjoyable location to stay at.
We traveled with two kids to Fuerteventura in July, just returned from our holiday. Transfer is quite long from the airport, since the hotel is relative far from Rosario, is in the south of the island. The transfer with Ryanair partner company I wouldn't recommend, they mixed our reservation, didn't know how much we pay, how many bags etc.. Finally they brought us to Sol Jandia Mar, the transfer duration is approx. 2 hours. On the way back we booked an other transfer company and eveything was ok. Arrived around midnight at Sol Jandia Mar, at the reception were two people, they gave us the room and redirect to the restaurant where our dinner was prepared and one people waiting for us, since we didn't arrive during dinner hours. One guy came with us and carry our bag to the room (is difficult first time to find the appartment in the big garden, especially during the night). So our first experience was very positive. Next day we asked for other apartment, they allow us to change but finally we remained in the initial one, the staff tried to solve all problems and were very understanding when we changed our mind. The food is very good, for a 3 star hotel is almost like a 4 star, always fresh fish, meat vegetables, fruits, cakes and sweets for kids. If somebody complaining for the food I recommend to not book all inclusive, they can go to eat fish and chips or hamburger in the ciity if don't like local flavours and dishes. Staff is friendly and hard working, all during 2 weeks we were in the hotel. The swimming pool bar is good but always big queues and only two drinks/person. The swimming pool is not big enough for the number of guests and not enough beds around. This is always problem, at 9 o'colck they open the swimming pool area, at 9:05 no free beds. The hotel is very clean. Entertainment is excellent this summer. The animation team is great with kids and parents as well, lot of activities, in the morning yoga, pilates, aqua gym, spinning twice per week, for kids mini disco and in the evenings very good and funny programs. We usually not enjoying these kind of programs but this time we did. Greetings to everybody from the animation team! Outside of the hotel is shopping area with restaurants and all kind of shops. The beach is 3 minutes from the hotel and is amazing. The island is only rocks and sand, no trees, nothing green, nothing can be seen. There are trips with catamaran to Isla de Lobos where we didn't see anything. But the boat brought us to Lanzarote in the Papagayo Beach which is fantastic, lot of fish and they provide snorkel equipment. Jandia is good for snorkeling, windsurfing and relaxing but nothing else, on the island is nothing special which worth visiting.
Just returned from a 2 weeks stay at sol jandia mar. This hotel is in a great location situated close to the beach (5 min walk) weather is amazing here!! We stayed all inclusive 2 adults 2 children aged 12 and 8.Shop right on site literally outside the hotel which we found is very cheap compared to some in the town. Grounds lovely and clean. 2 swimming pools and small pool for young children. After reading some of the reviews on here we were unsure of this hotel but we couldn't of been more happy here. We stayed in room number p337. Sea view from the back with double doors and a balcony and pool view from the front . Rooms are spacious and staff always keep clean and bring fresh towels. No aircon however if you leave slide doors open it airs the room nicely. Rooms have tv with a few English channels including fox tv with unlimited movies in English. Deposit required for the remote and safe costs 2.50 Euro a day. Rooms have no kettle however we bought our own with us. Food in this hotel is fantastic with so much choice on offer compared to other hotels. We found we ate so much! Breakfast includes all hot drinks , bacon, hot dog sausages, fresh bread/baguettes/toast, beans, eggs, pastries, doughnuts and much more . Fresh juice pineapple/orange/apple/water/tomato juice. Even found chips at breakfast! Lunch at the pool included chips/ pizza/ burgers chicken legs pork chops chicken tikka sticks all cooked on the barbecue, salad/tuna/hot dogs and more. So many alcoholic drinks too choose from in the pool bar including beer/ vodka /whisky/ baileys/ mojitos/cocktails. Drinks for children include coke/Fanta orange / Fanta lemon/ sprite/ chocolate milkshake / fresh juice. Also slush ice drinks, our children loved these and it's great these in all inclusive as other hotels charge you for these. Dinner included chicken/ beef casserole/ chops/ pizza/lasagne/ fresh salad and bread/ garlic mushrooms/ fish, chips, too many to mention so much choice. Again all drinks included which are self service. Entertainment was amazing! Again compared to some hotels this won hands down. We watched acrobat/magic acts/ music acts including Beatles tribute acts/rock bands/ bingo/ Disney night where kids get on stage/ competitions / drinking games. Kids mini disco every night at 9:30pm. Acts start at 10:00 pm. Again huge selection of drinks and cocktails here here / snacks. Kids drinks self service which we found great as other hotels kids have to que for drinks here they help themselves. Entertainment staff I can't thank enough ! Made our stay one to remember 😎 vlad juan, dani, Gabriel, Anna and Amira you are all a credit to this hotel. We will all miss you .All make you and your children feel so welcome and include them in everything . So many things to take part in during the day including water polo / darts/football/volleyball in the pool/ competitions every day in which you win champagne / water excercises/dance all with music/ kids mini club/ 8 ball pool/ ping pong. We found the town doesn't have many English/Irish bars we found 2 which were completely dead however everything you need is right here in this hotel. Town has some nice ships and a market which pops up on a Monday and Thursday in which we spent loads of money and bought back some lovely gifts. Ignore what other reviews say that his hotel only caters for Germans .complete rubbish. All made us feel very welcome and we was one of the only few English family's that stayed here. Met some lovely polish/Swiss/german/Spanish family's here and all made some great friends and memory's ☺️ Would have no worrys retuning to this hotel. Hope this review helps other family's 😎 trust us you will not regret it. Once again thankyou sol jandia mar for making our holiday a special one ☀️👌🏻
Great location in resort of Jandia, close to the beach and local shops and bars. Rooms are basic but very clean and well maintained. Hotel cleanliness all round was very good. Pool is quite small for number of guests and beds are gone within minutes of the pool opening, a queue starts to form about 30 minutes before pool opens. No sun bed policy which leads to arguments witnessed during my stay. Beds were being saved all day with no one using them. Leaving family's crowding around one bed, not fair !! Food is readily available but I did find that after two or three days it all became very samey and boring and it was a struggle to put a meal together. Children are not really thought about to much seafood / fish and spicy dishes along with rabbit veal etc. No way children will eat any of this, my daughter lived on chips for the 10 days we were there, not ideal !! As a British citizen I did find I wasn't really catered for, although all the staff spoke some English as soon as they knew they knew you were English there was very little time for you. During our stay the majority of the guests were mainly Spanish and German and most things seems to be directed to them. It's was a very noisy location at night as well we being woke up well into the early hours of the morning with people on balconys and outside rooms, mainly Spanish. Most annoying when you have children. All in all good hotel for money you pay but honestly if your British steer clear chose a different resort altogether because it is geared mainly for Spanish and German tourists.
We have been to this hotel a few times now and have it already booked for Christmas 2017 again. Again no failing with the hotel, lovely helpful and friendly staff, clean and good food as always. As other people have put the hotel is in a fantastic location for the shops and beach. The only slight issue we had this time was the shortage of sunbeds over the Easter weekend as the hotel was very full and not enough sun beds but we have never had this problem before and it was only over the weekend then by Tuesday it was back to normal quiet and plenty spare beds. We have been all over this island, four times a year and cant find a hotel to match this one, we have stayed in 4* that can't even hope to match the level of service that Sol jandia offer. The beach close to this hotel is also amazing, just like Barbados in my opinion.
After reading some mixed reviews for this hotel, I went with a cautious but open mind, I should not have worried! It is a long transfer time from the airport, but so worth it for the location! The hotel rooms are a little dated, but are clean, and spacious enough and lets face it...how much time do you spend in them, with weather and views like that out side? We did have an ant issue with our first room,. but after a brief conversation with reception, they were more than happy to move us to a different room, where not a single ant was seen all week. Cooking facilities are limited with just two hob rings, but was fine for making sandwiches, salads etc during the day, and with so many decently priced restaurants a short walk away, we simply ate out of an evening. There is no kettle or toaster, but we knew this and simply took a travel kettle, problem solved! There are two pools, one child friendly one and one deeper one, they are cold but only when you first get in, and who needs a heated pool when the temperature is hitting 31 degrees? our 9 year old lived in them every afternoon just to keep cool. they also do a limited pool side entertainment for the kids every day which she also enjoyed joining in with. A watchout for the pool bar if you are not all inclusive, I found they would tried to serve me branded spirits rather than local ones, without out even asking, and they are double the price of local ones! So ask for a local vodka or you will get served a Smirnoff! The evening entertainment is hit and miss....with some good nights and some poor (but so bad it was funny) ones..like most hotels really. The hotel is surrounded by some beautiful and well kept gardens so very easy on the eye when you are walking around, rather than a concrete city, we loved the fact is it quite a small complex, it made it feel a very safe environment for our 9 year old to have a little freedom, like going to play on the kids park, while we could see her from the window. Location of this hotel is brilliant!! 5 minute walk to a amazing beach, 5 minute walk into the main shopping parade with restaurants, gift shops etc. or a ten minute walk along the well lit beach promenade into MorroJable , which is more old town but some great restaurants, we would highly recommend wakiki! The cliental at the hotel is mainly German, but all the staff we spoke to still had a good understanding of English, and the entertainment always spoken in German and English. another watch out... for the beach......don't be surprised to see some naked people! especially down near the light house. Overall...would we return to this hotel? ..Definitely!!! we are already checking out prices for next year!
This hotel has many advantages - the spaciousness of the rooms (apartments), the location, the quality and choice of breakfast, and most of all the price. While mentioning price, you get what you pay for; the rooms haven't been refurbished for at least 15 years. I first stayed here in 2002 and nothing has changed since, except the price has dropped by 37% and it now has LCD televisions and 3Mbps wifi (not the "300mb wifi fiber" mentioned on the web site). Despite the throttled speed of the wifi, its coverage is fantastic with full signal strength throughout the hotel as well as a good signal for some distance outside the hotel. Nothing was wrong 15 years ago and nothing is wrong now; it is exceptional value for money in a great location of Morro Jable. My gold status in Meliá Rewards was well recognised. It was lovely to walk into the room on arrival and find a free bottle of wine and some tasty Spanish meat and fruits. Moritz in particular deserves a special mention for delivering great service. Late checkout is a particularly useful benefit of gold status, which Moritz allowed us to maximise. We also received small bottles of chilled water every day delivered to the room, which I assume was because of my gold status. If you come to this hotel without expecting luxury, you won't be disappointed. There is no air-conditioning in the rooms, but they don't really need it, because if you open doors and windows at both ends of the apartment, the wind will blow through and you can completely change the air and reduce the temperature in a few minutes. Despite the promise of a hairdryer on the web site, they are too hot and the air flow is too low, so bring your own if you need one. The double beds are two single beds pushed together with a shared headboard; don't be deceived by the photos. But at this price, it's not a problem. I don't understand why most guests go all-inclusive and spend all their time at the pool at this hotel. There are plenty of places nearby to eat out cheaply, as well as a great local beach 5 minutes' walk away and some amazing beaches 10 minutes' drive away in very cheap hire cars. The reason I choose to stay here is the location, and it's one of the best choices in Morro Jable if you don't want to fund hotel amenities while you're instead enjoying the fantastic beaches in the area. We chose to pay €8.50 for breakfast each morning, and my gold status entitled me to 2-for-1. €4.25 per person was exceptional value for one of the best buffet breakfasts I've experienced for a long time. The choice of food is enormous and the quality is fantastic, keeping us full until our return from the beach in the late afternoon. The only problem was tiny glasses for all drinks, probably only 100ml with nothing larger available. Presumably the intention was to discourage liquid consumption to reduce costs, but the hotel should on the contrary be encouraging high liquid intake in a hot climate for health reasons. Also beware that breakfast finishes at 10am, so we almost missed it on our first morning. In Fuerteventura, most Brits go to the north and most Germans go to the south. There are very few Brits in Morro Jable, and the clientèle of this hotel is no exception. Despite being British, I prefer this; the predominantly German guests are polite and well behaved. Plenty of staff speak excellent English and many also speak German. There are several German restaurants nearby, which I enjoyed as I like German food and beer. Beware that the hotel's card terminal adds a 1% hidden commission if you select the option to convert the amount to the currency of your card's country of issue rather than paying in EUR. Always choose EUR unless you have a credit card that charges its own commission. This dynamic currency conversion doesn't arise with American Express. Parking outside the hotel is easy. A large free car park on undeveloped land in front of the hotel relieves pressure on on-street parking immediately outside the hotel. We nearly always found a parking space right outside after returning from the beach. There is a small independent supermarket on site, just outside the entrance. The prices are low and for some products were significantly cheaper than chain supermarkets in the vicinity. I might stay here a third time, perhaps not waiting 15 years next time.
Joined the rewards programme and got a discount on this hotel , that's where the good bits stopped!! Priority check is a bonus feature when joined rewards scheme, when checking in we were shouted at to go to main desk , when I tried tor explain I'd checked in online I was ushered to the main check in desk and waited 25 mins!! Paid extra for a pool and sea view ! We had a view of the back of the pool bar and the cat house!! A very badly cracked tile balcony which resulted in a cut foot !! Rude staff to the British and was ignored many times in the queue for preference to Spanish guests , to top it all when booked online through the rewards programme you get told you get a £50 amazon voucher within 10 days of your return , a month later and countless emails and still nothing and get passed from pillar to post, another thing the Melia group did not supply!! Never again
My husband and I have just returned from a fabulous holiday in Jandia. This hotel is in an excellent location to visit Jandia or Morro Jable. Beautiful beach within 5 minutes of the hotel. Hotel staff could be friendlier, we are guests after all. Food generally ok though, but just remember, you get what you pay for, don't expect 5 star food for 3 star prices! A visit to Cofete Beach on the south west of the Island is a must. Get the bus at the bus station at 10.00am. 8 euros 70 each both ways, absolutely bargain compared to jeep trips which were extortionate. Take enough money to go in the lovely little restaurant near the beach, typical Spanish fayre, delicious. Its a bit hair raising going on the dirt track road, but the bus driver is very experienced and also a lot of fun too.
Nice hotel but rooms decor needs updating. Food selection and quality - superb! Evening entertainment wasn't our cup of tea (a bit dated). Hotel located very close to the beach. Staff always friendly and helpful.
