My family and I travel to the Canaries for the new year every year. Because of the time of year we do pay more money than what we would out of season so we expected a 4* stay however this wasn’t the case. We had previously visited this hotel 2 years ago at the same time when it was just Barcelo (rather than the Occidental). We had a brilliant stay then, so we were really looking forward to it. The staff throughout the hotel were amazing, they never stopped working, however there were not enough of them. There were queues at the pool bar and in the piano bar every day where we would regularly wait 10 minutes for a drink. The queuing continued into the restaurant, food was cold and there were even queues for the microwave. In a morning it was a hassle trying to get eggs. The queue for eggs travelled around the other food areas so once you had got you beans/bacon, this was cold by the time you reached your eggs. The soup was also cold which we got used to and used the microwave – but should we have to? Other things were also irritating, to use the indoor pool it was 10 euros per adult and 6 euros a child, a swimming cap had to be bought for 2 euros – this cost was to use the pool for an hour which is ridiculous baring in mind how much we had already paid for the hotel. Pool towels could be used for a 10 euros deposit, but this towel had to be kept for your whole stay or you would have to pay 2 euros for cleaning. The animation team also worked really hard, regularly doing shows and trying to get people involved in poolside games which was great fun. Special mention to Monsef who was such a nice guy and very funny! Unfortunately, the new year’s eve party was disappointing. The gala dinner was delicious and we had a bottle of cava in our room to drink while getting ready, but the party was a let-down. There were different areas where people sat and no real build up. There wasn’t a show or any entertainment. At midnight the fireworks were excellent, the animation team then did dancing on stage and people joined in, but the party was outside so there wasn’t much atmosphere and lots of people left. The dancing was moved inside later which was better, but if this had had been done sooner more people would have got involved. Sadly our stay was disappointing. The management really need to have a look at how hard the staff are working and employ more staff to relieve their workload which in return will also make it a much more pleasant stay for the guests who should receive a 4* experience not a hotel ran by management who are trying to cut corners.

We booked this hotel through on the beach as a 4* all inclusive and we upgraded to ‘club’. We later found out that this means all the drinks on the AI are included and not just selected drinks! (Baileys not included on normal AI amongst other drinks) we also had a separate eating area in the restaurant. This was great, as we didn’t feel like we were eating in a canteen and also we had table service! The view we had from our room was amazing! 180 degrees of pure beach! The hotel is massive, and it’s a lot of uphill from the bottom of the hotel complex to the top! This was fine for us, however I wouldn’t suggest this a good hotel if you have problems walking! The room was a little dated, but comfortable and very clean! There are plenty of pool areas and sunbeds, and indoor seating space for if the weather isn’t great. The food was plentiful, we never went hungry. The staff are all very helpful and super polite! Casandra, one of the waiting staff was amazing! Just a heads up, the beach is a nudiest beach and as we walked along the beach we saw more than enough! It’s not just one area of the beach, it’s the hole way into town! We really enjoyed our break, but we wouldn’t go back to Fuerteventura. I would recommend the hotel tho if you want some sun, sea and sangria!

Nice surroundings, however recepitionit staff from checking to checkout lacked the personal service expected of suck an establishment. Waited 3 days for an iron and had to pay a20 euro deposit . Lack of general facilities in the room such as iron, kettLe. Tried to upgrade our room but was ignored. Pool was like swimming in Antarctica.

Really lovely family holiday that went beyond my expectations ! We have three boys aged 18 , 15 and 10 all really enjoyed their holiday in this hotel . The food was excellent with a great variety and the deserts were too good !!! Have stayed in many similar hotels in fuerteventura but would rate this much higher for the cleanliness, relaxed atmosphere quality of food and spaciousness .

Excellent stay with regards to facilities, beaches, sun etc. One of the best vacations I have had so far. The quality of food and variety was excellent. The rooms were very comfortable, a variety of swimming pools and sun bathing locations and great beaches with fun waves in a 15 minutes. A very entertaining walking route to the village Morro Jabble close by.

I’m staying here atm and feel the need to give an honest review of the hotel. To start with the positive Comfortable beds Quiet rooms Fabulous location near the most beautiful beach Two pools one for kids/entertainment and one where you can relax and be left alone Generally clean and tidy Tables cleared quickly to try and accommodate people Negatives Room reeked of smoke even the bedding Bugs around the sink (non biting thank goodness) Music around the pool so loud that I couldn’t block it out with headphones or manage to concentrate to read. This started at 10:30 in the morning and you couldn’t escape it all day. The music was five or six songs played on a loop that drove me crazy. Drinks were hit and miss, soft drinks mix was always out so you would either get a cup full of fizzy water or thick syrup Food was ok, mostly cold and lunch at the snack bar was repetitive and bland.Breakfast was ok and so was dinner. Having paid €90 each for tonights nye gala wondering what they have in store for us. Just a note to the waitress that threw us out of the ‘plus’ section of the restaurant it was obvious that this gives the other guests seated in there much enjoyment but is very embarrassing. Reception was busy when we checked in but very nice staff. German guests don’t wait in line but barge to the front and get served straight away. Would I return? No I’m afraid not.

We just back from this holiday and definitely can’t say nothing bad about the service with well was received from this very friendly staff, like everywhere they is some small issues with this place but if you want spend nice time with your family between VERY FRIENDLY STAFF this is definitely the right place to BE!!!! Ps. We was there Christmas time and definitely this’s the perfect time to visit this place.

Nice hotel with excellent sea views and a short 5 minute walk to the beach. The main resort is only a 10 minute walk from the hotel with plenty of shops, cafes, places to eat and I found a brilliant car hire place called “Victoria’s” autos, Highly recommend this firm. The only negative is the strange tier system in this hotel. We upgraded to the plus package which put us in the middle tier with a sea view room in the main building. I would not book as standard purely because of the tier/class system which prevents people from accessing certain areas, sitting at certain tables etc.

This hotel is definitely 4 star the rooms are dated and need upgrade we had very tiny spiders and ants in the room. On reporting to reception they sent house keeping who said its tropical and they do not bite. They left us with spray that I used every day to keep them down. The theatre was closed due to a leak. Pool bar was closed for half the holiday. On the plus side restaurant and food were good. Animation worked hard and generally very good. Tip to the hotel, shut one block at a time and upgrade them. It could be a great hotel.

Nice setting, a lot of plants. Buffet Restaurant with good food but very bad acoustic and light. Nearby big beach, center of the town can be reached by foot. Reception not very serviceminded, but most of the servinpersonal was very nice and friendly.
