This resort is everything and more . A fabulous time was spent by my wife and I . The only down side was we didn't stay for longer. Can't recommend this resort enough , in fact already looking at returning next year but for longer. We did the inclusive option , plenty of choice every night even for fussy eaters like us.
As always the hotel and staff were superb, great room, everywhere was exceptionally clean and well maintained. The staff are very friendly and our maid each day was lovely. There was a communication issue on the last day, we had spoken to reception and agreed a later check out on our day of departure - 2pm, however, we receive at call at 12.15 telling us that we should have checked out and then cleaners came twice to our door to also say that we should have left, Shame about the lack communication as it spoilt the holiday a little being chased on our last day.
Some of the bungalows although described as superior fall far below the standard expected. Food and location were great. It is a vast complex and that shows with lack of maintenance of accommodation and pool area. Tiles missing from base of pool, outdated bathrooms in the bungalows which had peeling paint on the walls. The room as very clean and beds were comfortable.
Ok,will be my first long review because I want to respond to other people’s complaints about this resort.I just came back today and I want to say a big THANKS for all the staff from El Castillo Restaurant all of them are lovely people, friendly and always ready to help. In some of the reviews say about the restaurant is small, nosy and the staff rude.Is not small ,staff like I say lovely and noisy just like a restaurant with buffet can be.A lot of options to choose from. Lovely food.We stay in 2 bedroom superior bungalow. Very nice.Everything was clean .Because of some bad reviews I almost cancelled my holiday but I’m glad I didn’t! Other people are hard to please. I will definitely visit again and recommend to anybody!
We were here for my birthday and I was very impressed. Our rooms were amazing and our view was spectacular. On my birthday I had a view of the pool with the ocean in the background. The resort was right on the water, view of the amazing boats, all types of water sports, sea lions prancing in the water and a nice restaurant with outside seating. The town centre is a block's walk away. We had a wonderful time. Although I wasn't impressed with the food. But overall it was worth it.
A very good week in a nice apartment on the second floor with two large balcony which we used a lot during our stay. The apartment was god located corresponding to reception and restaurant. Caleta De Fuste Had a long beach walkway for long walks which we liked.
Everything about this place - location, design, facilities etc - means it has potential to be so much better than it actually is. It's a lovely setting; based around a harbour & sandy beach, the Barcelo resort is a huge complex with lots of spacious open areas, nicely designed pool areas, paths and buildings. As a family with two boys (12&15) we were effectively forced to pay for 3 adults and one child and given a one-bedroom
We know this Hotel over the years and again enjoyed a high standard of service. We stayed on an all inclusive basis and for us there was a good variety of well prepared food. Try the omelette prepared for you as you wait. We had a seafront superior bungalow ground floor which was great for a couple who wanted to rest and relax. It was close enough for the pool and buffet restaurant. If you haven't been for a few years like us there is a new evening entertainment base which is bigger than the old poolside area and more comfortable. However I would say it does take longer to wait for a drink. The entertainment is good for families but as a couple maybe not so much for us. All in all we had a really good relaxing time and it is nice to engage with all staff from reception to service to housekeeping who all smile.
We arrived at 11:30 on Sunday 01 April , along with many other clients (1 hour time to check in), and were told that our rooms would be ready only at 15:00. We could place our luggage in an unsecured room. The room was open to everyone and no possibility to lock anything securely away. Not ideal for me as I was travelling with an expensive laptop (needed for business), and did not feel safe that my equipment would still be there when we came back at 15:00. At 15:00 we returned to reception to be told that our rooms would only be ready at 16:00. On arrival at our rooms, I was not impressed. I attach some photo’s of the room. There was water damage to all lounge walls mould and general dirt on the walls in the shower area in the bathroom, the couch was broken on one side, kitchen cupboards falling apart, bedroom lamps surrounded by rust, terrace walls had paint peeling off, and the bungalow had the general smell of mould and damp. The final straw was 3 x cockroaches, 2 in the bathroom and 1 in my bed! We went to reception and were moved the next day (again at 16:00) to new bungalows. This was better in terms of hygiene and furniture as it was newer, however the walls were paper thin. My neighbours were perhaps “newly weds” and I heard their extra activities throughout the night, and when they were sleeping, the sounds of snoring was as if they were lying in the bed next to me (sounds hilarious reading, but in reality, it's something else). Whilst cleaning staff did come in daily, they literally were in and out within 5 minutes. Toilet was not cleaned, just flushed in an attempt to give the premise that something was done. Towels were replaced daily, and rubbish removed, but floors were not washed or vacuumed. Bed was made, but sheets were not replaced during the 7 days. Additionally the key cards constantly had to be reset as they blocked virtually daily. I was extremely surprised to find that we had to pay €28 deposit to use a room safe in our rooms. Never have I seen that. We were advised that there was a fitness centre (which for the price we paid, I would think we could use as a hotel guest) only to find that we had to pay €12 a day to use. We were supplied with small range of toiletries, and if you ran out, you had to queue up at the reception (which often took 20+ minutes) to get additional bathroom items. Never again would I stay at this chain of hotels. On departure, the lady on reception did not dare to ask us if we enjoyed our stay. We have put in a claim with our travel agent to ask for a refund, as this was so far from the dream holiday location I had been led to believe.
We took our two daughters their husbands and children to the Barcelo on a family holiday. It was every thing we could have wished for. We had a fantastic time, with the children in the pool every day. The staff at the resort were really friendly and helpful. Our bungalow was clean and modern. We had room service every day. It was quite a relaxing holiday. The variation of food in the buffet restaurant was Really good and to a high standard .
