This is a great hotel, but they advertise air conditioning. Our first room was 27C/80F and the windows only tilt back, they don’t open. The front desk was nice about quickly changing our room to a smaller room that was 5 degrees cooler. During both days at 11am, the air conditioning automatically came on; apparently they only run it during the day, but we only needed it at night when trying to sleep. Otherwise, this is a great hotel. The location was great. It’s walking distance to everything except the Documentation center. The nearby red-light district wasn’t even noticeable; was had a room facing the street and it was quiet and clean, except for some local construction work in the morning. Our key didn’t unlock the gym during the daytime, published open hours, so it may be closed or require special access or fees. It was nice having a little ice machine in the hallway. The rooms were clean, the coffee in the lobby was nice. The rooms were a good size and the bathroom was really nice. The mirror is even heated/steam-free after a shower! I would definitely stay here again but only in the winter.
I normally prefer staying in local, family owned hotels when vacationing. I traveled with a friend who was in charge of lodging and she chose the hotel. I was pleasantly surprised. The room was a great size, very clean, with an amazing bathroom (double sinks, heated floors, huge shower). Very helpful hotel staff, decent gym, great breakfast, etc. It was an outstanding stay.
Ideal Hotel for city centre access. The restaurant was first class and the staff very helpful. Handy for walks on the city wall but be aware this is close to the red light district so when walking the wall do so from the outside.
The hotel location is in the red light street so it is not nice to walk in and out of the hotel. Stuff at the reception are nice but not the hotel owner ( women). I really don't recommend this hotel there is many nicer hotel and cheaper
I stayed at the Holiday Inn Nurnberg (Nuremberg) for a few nights over the summer while being a tourist throughout parts of Europe for an extended vacation. My stay was good with no real complaints. And I'd begun to learn in Europe that my chances of a good hotel stay were (unfortunately) better at a major chain like this than at smaller hotel without standardized service, even if the chain is franchised. There might have been less expensive places to stay in Nuremberg, but I didn't want to risk it at this point. I was happy with my choice. The hotel is located within the fortified walls of Nuremberg's old town, and when you walk out of the hotel lobby and look to the right you can see the wall right there, just a block down. It's pretty cool! Also, I learned by accident (at night time) if you walk down to the wall and go to the right (or come back to the hotel that way, following the wall) you end up in the (brief) red light district (pictured). It seemed safe enough, but it really, really got me by surprise and I hadn't seen anything (or experienced) anything quite like that before (as it's legal there). So, just a head's up, particularly if you have children out with you at night. All the women appeared to be inside lit up, buildings standing in store-front windows, but they call out from the windows which have men walking up to them like a drive-through. It was quite the culture shock! It's nothing to be a prude about though, and after I went through it once accidentally I had no problem going through there when it was a shorter route to where I was heading on the other side. I suspect women would not be called out to and men should just ignore and not make conversation with women in windows if they aren't in that particular market. Maybe don't take the kids that direction at night unless you're comfortable with explaining a lot of complex and complicated social realities to them. Culture shocks aside, the hotel being inside the walls of old town mean you can just walk out from the lobby and begin sightseeing. There's an underground metro not far from the hotel, which also appears to be under some medieval tower of some sort. Nuremberg's old town is really neat-looking and has an interesting mix of old and new contained within it. The hotel has underground parking, for an extra charge. There were drink machines on my hotel floor. The hotel also had a restaurant/lounge, although I did not eat there during my stay.
The rooms are spacious, beds comfortable, and very clean. The gym offers a gym with sauna and relaxation area. The bar offers a wide range of drinks. Located only a few minutes walk to the heart of the city, subway stops, restaurants, tram, and overground train... this location is PERFECT!
There was nothing not to like here, location within the walled city, close proximity to everything in the city centre, really big and comforable rooms, cosy beds and good food. Breakfast was so much better than you get in a US Holiday Inn and the bar was pleasant as well. Staff were wonderful too. The rooms facing an internal courtyard were very quiet, there was some partying on the street outside the hotel being the weekend, the end of the street is the small red light district of the city which could be a little noisy for rooms at the front of the hotel as well.
Stayed for one night after a flight was cancelled so I had limited time to explore. However this hotel is well located inside the city walls and close to u-bahn stations. Airport and Messe are approximately 20 minutes away. I wish I could have stayed longer as the area around the hotel is very historic with many ancient buildings to see. Room was comfortable and was located at the top of the hotel so the design was more interesting than the usual square box layout. Hotel bar is good serving a range of food and drink at reasonable prices.
This hotel is really centrally located in city center of Nürnberg. Good restaurants and shops within 10min walking distance and 5min waking distance of the metro who can bring you easy to the central station or the fair. Very friendly staff and a superior breakfast. Rooms clean and modern. Very good WiFi signal. The bar is nice place to crash down after busy fair day or when you shopped till you dropped.the hotel has an parking garage to park you car beside the hotel.
Having travelled a bit we've come to realize that Holiday Inn offers some of the very best hotel values in many cities. We were checked in quickly and as an IHG member upgraded to a large, clean, well furnished room. Parking at the hotel was expensive but quite worth it for convenience. Recommended.
