A Sheraton in Shunde - who knew? This is an good property and the service is very friendly regardless if it is in the front office, restaurants or the concierge. Pretty good breakfast offering. The rooms are large and comfortable. The bathrooms are of descent size. Mine had a subtle smell of the sewer system leaking into the bathroom. Overall thumbs up!
Was a terrible day for me before reaching Sheraton Shunde at 03:00 in the morning. Starting from very fast check in procedures knowing the value of each minute of sleep and comfortable room, I also liked rich breakfast menu. I absolutely recommend
The service in the club lounge is outstanding. Every time I make a reservation, I look forward to meeting Ms Alissa Zheng and her crew in the lounge. This professional team brings so much joy for me and my family as well. The food service in the lounge is extraordinary. One of the best of those in China.
I have booked my room with the VIP lounge access. This is one of the better lounge out of all the Southern China Sheraton that I have visited. Both breakfast and late afternoon happy hour buffet are delicious and great service. Alissa Zheng, the lounge manager, was so nice and fast check out service. I must give her 2 thumbs up. Pls keep up all the good standard for other guests to enjoy!!!
I was at the airport about to check in when i reached for my passport and it was not there. Then it dawned upon me that i had left it in the hotel all the way back in Shunde over an hour away by car. They located my passport and gave it to the Bell boy that hopped in a taxi and travelled to the airport to back again. A big thanks to Avery on the concierge desk that co-ordinated and updated me via wechat and the bell bow that ran thru the airport to get it to me as quickly as possible. Thanks again.
Excellent service. Lounge level with lovely river views and great food selection evening and breakfast. Very efficient and attentive Club team, led by Alissa and Sherry. Thank you for a great stay. Will be back very soon...
Sheraton Hotel in Shunde, Foshan gave me a bit mixed feelings during the ~1 week of stay. On one hand the hotel building and rooms represent a good quality, but on the other hand the service was a bit mixed bag. At the reception I received good and professional service, but otherwise the service standard varied a lot and lacked consistency. For example at the hotel gym and pool area, the service was even a bit rude at times. Even we paid a fairly high fee for the room and the service package, the hotel personnel wanted to charge an extra fee for a "mandatory" swimming cap at the pool, and also behaved quite harshly! Why to ruin the customer experience because of a couple of dollars that these caps cost? This is not the way to offer a good service, as this is not a cheap hotel. The Asian restaurant at the hotel offered a high quality dining experience, while the restaurant on the ground level reached an average, especially on western cuisine. A fairly good hotel, but definitely not a five star place.
I booked and paid for 2 nights from April 18 to April 20. I stayed the first night on Apr 18. Unfortunately, internet connection was POOR for international websites. I could not work as I had to connect to overseas servers. I did not understand if this was internet censorship by the officials or it was the poor network of the hotel. I decided to leave on the second day in the evening going back to Hong Kong even hotel forfeited the prepaid room charge! I told front desk I will not consider staying in Sheration Shunde when I come next month.
I'm an executive leaving in SE Asia for more than 25 years. As so, I'm selecting for may stays mostly 5-Star accommodations. I know the Sheraton Shunde Hotel since their opening and as a former chairman of a foreign chamber of commerce in China I was invited by the first management of this hotel for visits and events. It was a great place at that time with high class hospitality. But it was .... it is NOT that place anymore. Like several other Sheraton Hotels in China, the quality constantly drops and it is now more a 4-Star place. Rooms are not that clean any more if you have a closer view on details. The executive lounge at this hotel is nicely decorated and equipped with comfortable seating's, but that is all what sounds executive. Breakfast in this lounge is less than basic. The tables has only fork and knife, but no tissues or napkin's, no milk cup may needed for the coffee and so on. Cleaning-up the tables after guests left are also not the specialty of the staffs. The table beside me was overloaded with dirty dishes, cups and used paper tissues for mores than 30 minutes, before some ones of the staffs start to clean it up. They even let some forks there as they think they are unused - ugly for the next guest who may see that this items are may not really clean any more. No ones of the staffs really attends to serve the guests as this should may be normal at an executive club lounge ? Operating the coffee machine by my self is not that big issue, but trying to find some milk to blend the dark coffee turns into a small challenge. No service provided - even there was only 3-4 guests occupying the lounge at the time I was searching for milk, napkins and others. I do not like to put responsibility on the service staffs. They are neither not trained, not guided by managers or simply has no idea what hospitality is ? It is a complete failure of the management who not shows up to the lounge at any time during my stay at Sheraton Shunde. Same story about the cleanness, I do not like to post pictures here as they are contra productive and the top management of the hotel shall have a chance of improving. This even I have limited hope on this..... The only reason me staying at this hotel it's the location that is closely to my company. Staying there for 1 or 2 nights is manageable - but for more days I would even take the disadvantage of traffic jams in Guangzhou city and choose a real 5 star hotel there. However, I frequently stay at other cities all over in China and see similar developments in other Sheraton Hotel's. This brand was once a good one who promises quality - but it may changes its strategy in China being on a 4 star level only ? Like almost all foreign branded hotels in China has in reality a Chinese owner behind. While years ago they employ well educated expatriate managers (GM's), today they select often cheaper local leaders who has no idea what hospitality is. Money matters every where - but a hotel shall use hospitality to make guests feeling hone away from home - and this is definitely not (not anymore) the Sheraton Shunde Hotel.
I stayed at this hotel for 1 night in February 2017. The hotel from the outside is very impressive and offers a grand entrance from the street. I stayed in a riverview room which was nice ( The river is nothing to write home about ) i quickly had a look at the executive lounge and it seemed impressive with large glass windows from floor to ceiling as well as nice furniture and a good selection of food. I was in room 750 and would say it was a good size. The room had everything you'd expect however i get the feeling they are dating fast. Instead of having a clear glass wall between the bedroom and bath it had coloured glass with a pattern. This made the spa area feel very small. The Bath is also round meaning unless your 5 foot its useless. It also appeared very shallow. The ceiling had a large crack near the spa also which was unexpected in a Sheraton property. The staff were friendly and helpful. In summery it's a good place to stay however not really top notch as i would have expected.
