Comfortable room with daily service. Soft beds by Chinrse standard's. Resort has good facilities for a family; bowling, snooker, pool, badminton table tennis and a large in/outdoor pool. Buffet breakfast is good.
Most rooms are okay the noise is in the front of the resort the whole place is silver service Chinese style. The staff try but English is not their first language so bear with them as they are very friendly and try
It feels a bit like a country club, but it's a bit old. Also, it doesn't look anything like the photo here on TripAdvisor. That said, the service was strong, and the breakfast buffet was pretty good. The other thing about it is that it is pretty far from, say, public transportation, so it's best if you have a car.
Let me begin by saying we've been travelling to Guangzhou for over 15 years twice a year to attend the Canton Fair and have stayed at many hotels of varying ratings. This establishment caught my eye due to the price (very reasonable for Fair time) and photos of the room. There is a complimentary shuttle bus to the Fair which leaves at 8:30am and returns at 6pm but if you miss these you need to take a taxi. With travel time of approx an hour, it makes for a long day. Perhaps they could think about a second return bus at say 5pm? The room we were given in block 8 was wonderful - large, modern and very quiet with a balcony to let in fresh air. Free wi-fi as well which was a bonus, although the tea making facilities offer Chinese teabags only and no sugar. The staff at front of desk and reception are friendly and competent in English, although strangely they don't offer currency exchange. But it is at the restaurants & back of house that we were subjected to that implacable Chinese characteristic of ignoring westerners (because they can't or don't want to understand). Firstly I complained about some other guests (Chinese) who lit cigarettes in the no-smoking area at breakfast. No-one did anything and the guests just laughed at us as we moved to a table in a different area. Secondly, the communal toaster, coffee pot, condiment containers and surrounds were quite grotty. Obviously these are not cleaned daily and I almost gagged looking at our salt shaker that appeared as if it had some-one's nose pickings stuck on it. Our daily housekeeping was as haphazard. Toilet-paper roll not replaced (maybe they allocate a quota?) which was difficult to communicate when my husband had diarrhea. We received 2 newspapers but on the 3rd & 4th days delivery suddenly stopped. Likewise our complimentary fruit platter - not replenished. We still can't come to grips with having to pay to use the gym and/or swimming pool. From my perspective, hotel amenities should be included in the rack rate. This was a disappointment as my husband likes to do laps in the morning but I refuse to pay approx USD12 for a swim, no matter how beautiful the pool. Because this establishment is so far from everything, you're really confined to eating in-house. The "western" restaurant is terrible. We waited over half an hour for a bowl of soup and a serve of (cold) french fries. Then when I tried to sign the bill to our room, we were refused and told we had to pay cash or see reception to top up our holding deposit. Really? As if we were going to abscond without paying our USD10 meal. The Chinese restaurant upstairs is much better. The staff try hard to communicate and meals arrived within 10mins with a good dose of humour. Just goes to prove that old saying "when in Rome..." A nice touch that we've never come across before was a net-working party in the evening with complimentary snacks for Canton fair attendees. Club sandwiches, (hot) french fries, cookies, coke & beer were provided in the hotel lobby on 2 of the nights we were there. The first night there was also dumpling-making & traditional Chinese music performed by a local student - quite good. To sum up, I'm still not sure about this place. Yes, the room was great and the distance to Canton Fair not too bad. If you can cope with inconsistencies in service and food, it's probably worth a try. If we stay here again I'll be bringing Liptons teabags, sugar, uht milk, museli bars and maybe even some 2-minute cup moodles!
I booked in this hotel since my friends are living in Country Garden in Shunde, and I was upgraded free of charge as the type of room I booked was full. I got to this place from downtown Guangzhou by taxi. It costed me RMB$75 and took me 30 minutes, and I found it acceptable. The room I stayed was super big and could definitely fit a party of 20 people. The bedroom and bathroom were really clean surprisingly as I thought the hotels in China were not supposed to reach this level of cleanliness (like in Japan). Their beds were comfy enough, and the basic essentials were all provided. The very last thing I have to say is that my friends and I were asking the receptionist if she could call a taxi to pick us up from the entrance of the hotel. At first we were told that we had to pay RMB$10 extra, and we accepted, but the taxi driver ended up saying we had to pay RMB$40 extra. I would suggest taking a shuttle from the hotel then a taxi outside the gate of Country Garden to avoid this unnecessary charge.
Stayed in the newly constructed side in building 8. Everything new, massive room, modern deco, huge, comfortable bed, two fully functioning AC which were needed to get away from the outside heat. We walked through the main hotel to go to breakfast and it appeared dated and the carpets smelled, but didn't stay there so no issues from me. Room service was abrupt, laundry service was pristine. Every piece of clothing was washed, ironed, folded perfectly, and returned all wrapped in their individual plastic wraps. Buffet breakfast has an immense variety, mostly quite tasty, but for some reason the dessert trays were in the midst of all the main trays. The upstairs yumcha had a great selection also. We made the use of the bowling alley - which is getting a bit old with the machines sometimes malfunctioning (giving us an extra pin each time - which made it more fun actually!), the snooker room was also quite large with nice rolling tables, the pool was very impressive - never seen anything like it in my travels. Had a haircut at the hair salon, great service, cheap price, nice result. The gym needs a bit of an update and needs some extra weight for the bench press, but does the job. It took us around 45 minutes to Guangzhou city for business, but had many other factories nearby that we could visit. Would definitely recommend to friends and family as our overall stay was excellent. Hotel would be a great getaway for families.
I think this is one of my shortest review because there are nothing to say about this hotel. This hotel is too far away from the main road. Even though we had car, we had to drive about 10 mins from the main gate to the main building of this hotel. The whole structure is getting old, lack of maintenance is observed. I stay in a room on the 1st floor, which mainland state "2/F". The room is roomy but the carpet getting old. Room lights are not enough. Bathroom is roomy as well. Room amenities are enough, not too much, not too less. They are a relaxing swimming pool which is clean and decent. Restaurants are nearby. Western food is not too good. I only can say it is Chinese style western dishes. Nothing more can say about this hotel because they really don't have much to be introduced.
Stayed at this hotel a few years ago during Canton Fair being booked there by a travel agent (last time!). Hotel is a good 30-40min drive from Guangzhou and the Pazhou complex. The hotel did offer a convenient shuttle bus to and from Pazhou each day. Rooms were spacious and clean and overall facilities are well kept. The hotel definitely caters more for locals and is more a sort of resort for locals (even boasting it's own ten pin bowling course etc). Breakfast was very basic and not great at all. Since the hotel is far from the city there are no restaurants anywhere near the hotel and you are left stuck with one of the two restaurants at the hotel - one being Chinese and the other Western. The western restaurant was OK but choices limited. Communication is a nightmare. I have stayed at various chinese hotels and I know that English is generally a problem but at this hotel it was really bad. Laundry was very good and cheap.Guangzhou taxis are generally unwilling to take you to the hotel - and if they do they really struggle finding it. So whilst probably good for locals it is really not recommended for business travellers in my opinion.
I've stayed at this hotel complex several times. It's in a gated community that's pretty far from both the centre of Guangzhou and Foshan. It's actually closer to Guangzhou, just on the border of Panyu district. If you're coming here just for the Canton Fair and don't want to leave the hotel complex then it's quite a good choice and I think it offers good rates during fair time. Their free shuttle bus takes around 45 minutes to the fair. They also have other shuttle buses going into Guangzhou and Foshan, but they might be a bit hard for non-Chinese speakers to handle. The hotel can arrange drivers if you need one. These days most taxi drivers know the hotel, but if you don't speak Chinese, make sure you have the address written in Chinese. If possible, try to get a room in the new part of the hotel (out the back). It has a nice view and spacious, clean rooms with comfy beds that aren't too hard! Pool facilities are quite good, but the gym is way below average. If you feel like doing something different, there's a bowling alley, squash, tennis & badminton courts. There's also a small supermarket and two restaurants at the hotel. The whole place has quite a Chinese style to it, so as long as you're prepared for that, you will probably enjoy your stay.
Even when you have the name and address written in Chinese, no taxi driver knows this hotel, since it's hidden inside a huge enclosed residential area. Hence this fact, there is absolutely nothing to do outside the hotel - no shops, no restaurants. The whole hotel has a strange moldy smell all over, but the rooms are quite nice - big and quiet. The staff is friendly and there is a free shuttle bus to the Canton Fair.
