Aloft Nanhai Foshan

Went over for a weekend with friends. The property is rather big but the occupancy was at relaxing low levels. Check in was efficient but somehow cold. Rooms large and clean. Enjoyed the swimming pool both days. The breakfast was just OK, the hotel mainly caters for local guests and it is reflected in breakfast spread as well as in general level of service. My triple espresso tasted like a weak americano. However there are 2 food courts with decent options within a short walk from the hotel (5-10min). Had a friendly chat on check out with reception desk manager Jimmy, who used to work in Westin Guangzhou. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again in Aloft Foshan if the price is right. Otherwise I’d opt for Elements just across a street.

I had used only 2000 SPG points to redeem a room and paid for another room for a friend. For the price we paid, we were absolutely satisfied for the value. Spacious room, nice open view from window across a playground - field, room amenities, and friendly room services crew with fast service. We were there for one night weekend short trip visit to Foshan. Recommended!

I used SPG points to redeem a room, and paid for another room for my friends. Both rooms face the open field have good day and night view. It has its typical design for the room... the colors, the furniture and etc just like other Aloft hotel elsewhere. The only comment, the furniture and curtain which were damaged by other guest should be thorough fixed rather than patched. The paint on the external wall also peeled off, and clearly seen from the room.

We stayed for 3 nights in the 10th floor, it was so quiet no ear plugs were needed, so clean, service was really good, wifi strong, they actually vacuum the carpet- just a lot of little nice things that a lot of other hotels in China don't do. People at reception spoke English, but speaking mandarin did help at times. The room decor is a little like McDonald's from the early 2000s... but that's ok. The location is pretty far, took an hour to get to Guangzhou/Tianhe.

I tend to like the Aloft rooms - and this one was very similar to the one I stayed in in London. The room was comfortable, could be darkened and had a big window wall when the curtains were up. That said I was on the tenth floor facing the Main Street and some traffic noise broke into the room. I felt very let down by the breakfast. The food felt very poor quality. The orange juice as only orange flavoured water and the bacon was decidedly synthetic. There was no western alternative which is fair enough but the local food was not good.

That's sums it up I should rate higher than three because of the rate.. Was like eighty AUD which is very cheap, even in Foshan. Classic China run hotel with limited English apart from a couple of managers that had limited vocabulary. Nevertheless they all tried to go above and beyond expectations. The room had bubble bath but only a shower. Quite funny. No gown in room which Sheraton always have. No mini bar except a can of coke and lemonade. AC was good in room and my room was spacious overlooking a nice park/ forest areas. The bed was comfortable and new/ clean also. Modern interior and furnishings Restaurant very Chinese and the food was excellent yumcha style. Staff was adamant they only had red wine, which was not my choice since a cold Chardonnay was my preference to wash the Chinese down but I begrudgingly ordered a Pinot noir. Was pleasantly surprised when the waiter delivered a cold white wine!

Location is good if you are visiting factories in the area, Although the rooms are acceptable hotel has seen better days, Upper floor room had a wi-fi reception issue which was addressed by the staff adding a router/booster in the room when I informed them. Lobby bar is ok for a drink or 2.

Good looking hotel in nice location. However the aircon is weak and little bits and pieces keep falling off. Breakfast spread was disappointing. Other hotels available in this town. Can consider if you like taking selfies otherwise don't bother.

This new hotel chain takes all my respect being something different than the others. Modern with a lot of surprises in the room which are making the difference with all the other SPG hotels. This chain is leveraging on innovation & art. The luxury is not in their DNA and this is the difference for people which are searching something different. For only 85€ I booked the suite which is fantastic!

Very nice hotel for business or pleasure. I was business this time. The rooms have good wifi and a desk and a chair. Modern room with good black out curtains. Big television. Not many American stations but did have BBC and a few other English news channels. Breakfast is ok. Has some American food and Chinese food. Good espresso coffee. Really nice because it's just off a major freeway so not much in town taxi to get there. A nice walking park across the road. With a 1/2 mile walk are most all shopping places. Nearby are two Mc.Donalds and a KFC, Pizza Hut. Not a lot of night life there but still a real nice hotel for business or vacation. Has an indoor pool and a workout room.
