We reserved this hotel for a couple of nights while we were with our 18 month old baby in Florence and we got a lot more than we expected at this hotel, the transportation to the center of the city makes it easy if you rent a car to drive around Italy since parking is very hard to find. Our room was huge and the bed was very comfortable. We were provided with a crib for our son at no extra cost and without asking for one. The attention at the restaurant is very good and the food is of a 5 star restaurant. I highly recommend this hotel if you want the best bang for your buck. We will be back whenever we visit Florence again.
We stayed here 4 nights as part of a tour. The grounds are gorgeous and inviting.. You can see the rooms on their website. We had a beautiful view from our room. I am posting one with the window open & one with the paned windows closed. We had dinner one night as part of the tour & it was excellent. The menu prices were reasonable. We were on the 2nd floor. Wifi worked fine for me on my IPad in the room, but my granddaughter's on her IPhone kept dropping out so she used it mainly in the lobby. This would be a perfect place for a honeymoon. There is a shuttle from the Villa into Florence, but if you wanted to stay late in Florence a taxi probably wouldn't cost that much. It would be nice to stay there when it's warm enough to used the pool. It was into the high 40's F. at nite & low 70's F during the day. The first 2 nights we sleep with the window open, but on the second nite my granddaughter had mosquitoes buzzing around her head so we had to close the window and I killed 3. Europe doesn't screens anywhere, I don't think. Other than that, it was perfect.
Grounds and Historic Villa very pretty and large. Restaurant menu had good (local) food and great service. Very close to Florence, free parking and wifi, Breakfast was great, rooms large and well decorated. Futura was very nice, it was a beautiful stay in Tuscany!
We stayed here recently and had an amazing time. As you arrive up the drive the fountain greets you and the villa seems very opulent. The grounds are plenty and lined with olive trees, old olive presses and spectacular views of the hillside. The grounds are maintained and everywhere is very clean. Inside the villa the opulence continues with cabinets and walls full of paintings, porcelain antique clocks etc. The staff are all very warm and welcoming, check in was informative and efficient. The rooms are within villas in the grounds so you have access to a communal sitting room dinning room/kitchen should you wish to use it and outside eating spaces. The rooms are very clean and full of antique furniture and decoration. They are spacious and very comfortable. The beds are like home which you can't always say when you go away. The bathroom hosts a spa bath which was a welcome addition after sightseeing all day. The toiletries provided were very nice. The room tastefully hides the modern technology, an automated airfreshner keeping the room smelling lovely, a light on the outside which indicates the room is occupied. The temperature of the room can be operated by the reception staff via the computer. The breakfasts were a feast each day fruit, yogurt, juices, cheese, cereals, meats, cooked breakfast, breads and pastries to name a few things. It is all presented very well and the porcelain and silver cutlery make it a more refined experience. A free shuttle bus runs from the hotel into florence. Out of season this was at 10.00 and 6pm each day. This did mean that we did have to get taxi on occasions, who are very prompt but it does mean additional cost needs considering approx €20. There is a local bus if you do have more time and is a cheaper option. I still feel it is worth the cost if you are looking for more than a city break. The villa does also have an outside pool open seasonally. I fully recommended a stay at villa Olmi resort.
Spending time in this hotel means to be thrown back in times, where you are cuddled and treated just a step outside the city. The wonderful breakfast in the winter garden, under a warming winter sun is something will always treasure. If you can get a deal like we did, this place is highly recommended!
We stayed here for 4 Nights in February and loved it! It really is a beautiful hotel and just 10 mins away by car from the city. We were made to feel very welcome from the moment we checked in, and throughout our stay we found all the staff extremely helpful, friendly and just couldn't do enough for us. Special shout out to Aldo who went out of his way to help us and gave some great tips on places to visit. I highly recommend this hotel and hope to visit again soon. Thank you for such a wonderful stay.
really nothing to complain. very friendly and competent staff. great breakfast unusual for Italian hotels. spotless clean. villa is decorated with lot of nice details. of course, if you don't like rustic look, is not place for you. I will be back
Just a warning-a long, detailed review is ahead. I rely on reviews via trip advisor when planning trips and meals so I want to return the favor! My husband and I were lucky enough to plan a 12 day European adventure in October 2016. We started off in Amsterdam, a quick 24 hours in Rome and then seven days in Florence. We carefully researched each area and hotel and also worked with a travel agent who did the same. When she recommended Villa Olmi, we were thrilled to see the positive feedback from others who stayed there and loved it. We happily booked seven nights at this beautiful hotel. Getting there: We picked up a rental car in Rome and drove to Villa Olmi. It was tricky maneuvering out of Rome but once we were out of the city it was a calm, quiet drive. The hotel itself is simply beautiful. It was our first time in Italy and this was exactly what I had pictured Tuscany to be. We were able to easily park our car directly in front of the hotel. Parking is free and in a lot. Check-In: Check-In was quick and easy. They honored our request for a four-poster bed and brought us to our superior room in the main building. The front desk staff was sweet and helpful. My husband and our travel agent had notified the hotel that it was our anniversary. Given that the hotel was in the heart of Tuscany we were a bit surprised to find that the hotel does not provide complementary wine for such a celebration. Some reviews will tell you otherwise though. I guess each person's experience with special occasions at the Villa Olmi are different. My husband did pay 30 euro for a bottle of processo which was chilled in our room when we arrived. It was delicious but double the price of what he had paid at the other hotels we had stayed at during our trip. Room: Unfortunately our room didn't have a view and looked directly over the front awning but we quickly got over that. The room itself was beautiful and spacious, especially considering the other rooms we had stayed in while vacating in Europe! The décor was breathtaking and romantic. The temperature of the room was much too high at 78 degrees Fahrenheit! At first we chalked it up to traveling all day and feeling sleepy. We attempted to turn the thermostat in the room down but were told we weren't able to control that. That night we both woke up several times sweating. We were unable to sleep with blankets on and were uncomfortable through the night. When we attempted to open the windows the lack of screens drew in an abundance of mosquitos. Had there been screens we would have loved having the cool breeze on us while we slept. When we approached the front desk staff the following day, they agreed that it was far too hot but said that they were not allowed to adjust the heat of the room as it changed the heat of the entire hotel. They quickly provided us with a fan for the duration of our stay which significantly cooled down the room. I should add that both my husband and I are young, healthy and fit. Aside from the heat, the rooms were just perfect. The jetted bathtub was my favorite place to end the day. The bed was comfortable and beautiful. Breakfast: Breakfast was delicious. Each morning a beautiful spread was put on. I was excited to load my plate up with fresh fruit, prosciutto and cheese. The food was a buffet and someone kindly came around to take coffee orders. I loved starting the day with a cappuccino! Breakfast left us feeling full and satisfied until we were ready for a late lunch. Food & Drink: Aside from breakfast I can't speak to the quality of the food in the hotel restaurant. We glanced at the menu but chose to go out for dinner instead. The bar had a variety of drinks to choose from and plenty of nice tables to sit and enjoy your drinks and company. We were a bit surprised at the price of wine. This beautiful hotel is located in Tuscany, where wine is everywhere and very reasonable too! Every restaurant we went to offered house wine at an incredibly reasonable rate of 8-12 euro per bottle. It would have been great had Villa Olmi also done this. Instead we were paying 8 euro for a glass of prosecco or chianti. Had the prices of the wine been more reasonable we would have spent far more time downstairs and maybe even ventured to the restaurant for dinner. Instead we quickly found a grocery store within a five minute drive and purchased wine there. We also would enjoy wine at the wineries and dinner out each night! Shuttle: The shuttle was nice to have and easy to arrange. Make sure you sign up a day prior. The only downside if that it does not run very late which makes it difficult to plan a dinner out if you enjoy eating later like we do. The front desk staff were sweet enough to arrange a taxi for us to a restaurant further than walking distance which was super helpful. Check-out: We had an AM flight out of Rome on a Saturday morning. We were checking out very early (~5:00AM) as we were driving our rental car to the airport. We were quickly offered help with our luggage and given a bag filled with breakfast foods; breads, fruit, water, etc. as we were missing breakfast at the hotel that morning. We were sad to go but so pleased with this last impression. Aside from the beautiful hotel and lovely service our next favorite thing was that we were within walking distance to Osteria Brucia Tegami, an incredibly delicious restaurant! Make a reservation and take a quick, safe walk over for a one of a kind meal. We went there three times and our biggest regret was not going every night of our trip! Our stay at Villa Olmi was everything we hoped for. It was a beautiful, romantic way to end our European adventure and an incredible way to spend our anniversary. The hotel and staff are one of a kind and we are counting down to our return!
This is a hotel which on the face of it has every advantage. Great view, spacious rooms, lovely sprawling villa. What really made it bad was the service. The only one who did a good job was the young lady who was in reception in the morning. Despite what it said, and I double checked, on Booking.com, there is NO BUS in the off season. Taxi service varies wildly in price from about 15-30 € for no reason that I could see as I went to more or less the same place every day. This made the visit twice as expensive. When I asked about alternatives, I felt very brushed off. The room was overheated (only way to turn off the heat was going to reception and asking them to turn it off for the whole room, wish I'd known that the first day). There are no tea/coffee facilities, there is no tea/coffee at the bar, and none at room service either. For breakfast you have to actually find someone, hope they aren't busy and ask them for it. They will not offer it automatically. Villa Olmi, stop hoarding your tea bags like they were made of solid gold! Sadly there was a baby in the room next to mine who cried desperately all night. This is not the hotels fault, but contributed to an overall bad experience. It is a lovely place, just not in the off season apparently. I'm sure if I'd arrived at another time it wouldn't have been so bad. The room was spacious, clean, had a lovely bathtub and breakfast would otherwise have been up to the standard the hotel is clearly striving for.
A great historical hotel, only 25 minute-drive from the middle of the city. The rooms are a bit on the smaller side, but the bathroom is beautiful. The staff is very friendly and answers your every call. The staff is also very helpful in scheduling activities around the city. The hotel's shuttle bus is very convenient. My favorite part was the pool. If you have some free time, roam around the grounds - they have a heliport and an underground museum. Enjoy the morning breakfast provided by the hotel.
