Tourist House Ghiberti is in such a good location that we arrived the SMN train station at about 1:30, got our two Firenze cards at the place across from the station, walked to the Tourist House, checked in, got settled, and were at the Accademia just after 3:00... all on foot! Claudio graciously managed our luggage into and out of the historic elevator, painstakingly explained everything in our room, and basically was pleased when we were pleased during our 3-night stay. I'm glad that he showed us an electronic gizmo, to plug into the outlet, should there be a mosquito, because there was a mosquito our second night. I'm glad that he'd reminded us to bring swimsuits, because after doing so much walking, the jacuzzi felt good. My husband was a little disappointed that he couldn't use the computer in the room to download pictures onto the thumbdrive; but, all it meant was we had to be a bit more judicious in our picture-taking. Our room looked out onto a hospital; so, I asked about sirens. But, indeed, as Claudio said, there weren't any. The double windows kept out street noise. The room had a safe. The road from the train station was cobble-stoned; so, we were glad for our sturdy Samsonite wheels... cheap-quality suitcases probably woildn't make the journey unscathed. And, in fact, there are shops across fromhe SMN station selling suitcases.
We stayed six nights at Ghiberti while we explored Florence for the second time. The location was convenient to all our interests. The breakfast offered a very good selection of tasty items. Housekeeping was efficient and kept our room comfortable and inviting. We did get some street noise at night but we live in a very quiet California location so city dwellers probably would not be disturbed. Overall, an excellent choice to stay for a visit to this wonderful city.
This B&B is in a very central location - just a 5 minute walk from the Duomo, but on a quiet side street. It is a short walk from the train station. It was great to be able to go back to the room for a break in the afternoon. The room was clean and relatively spacious, with a very large, comfortable bed. The satellite TV had a few English channels, mainly news channels. The breakfast had a good selection - meat, cheese, boiled eggs, cereal, yogurt, and sweets. We used the hot tub one afternoon, which was a nice break. Our room faced a courtyard, so was quiet.
We stayed here for 4 nights and were really happy with everything. Location is great just one block from the Duomo and only 15 mins walk from train station. Our room was at the back, was large with lovely ensuite. Room was quiet, breakfast was good. Would definitely recommend.
We stayed at the Tourist House Ghiberti after reading all the wonderful Tripadvisor reviews. We were not disappointed! The owner and his wife are very friendly and helpful! The room was lovely and the breakfast was great! What more could one ask! We were also very pleased that the owner made reservations for us at one of the tourist sites and also called a cab on the day of our departure! I would highly recommend this B & B!
I first stayed at Tourist House Ghiberti 11 years ago, as part of a 75th birthday trip for my mom. Our stay was memorable, and I had hoped to one day return. My husband and I visited Florence a few weeks ago, and had the pleasure of returning to this B&B. Claudio greeted us warmly and was as delightful as I recalled. You couldn't ask for a better location in Florence - easy walking distance to so many sights. The rooms are clean and well appointed (our room was exceptionally large as was the bathroom). The breakfast room is cheerful, and the selection of food was adequate to start the day. All in all, an excellent choice of lodging for Florence.
Great location, clean room, friendly and helpful owners. Place is only 2 blocks from the Duomo. Room and bathroom are very large. Bathroom lighting is great! Breakfast is plentiful and good, but simplistic. It is ~ 15 minute walk from the train station. We didn't drive, but we were told parking is a challenge. No UBER in Florence. Taxi drivers are crazy.
It was an excellent stay. The room was clean and comfortable. They went out of their way to make sure that we were well taken care of. They even got up early to make sure we were able to get breakfast in advance of our VERY early train!
This B&B is very well located being only a few minutes walk from the Duomo but in a sufficiently quite street that you are not disturbed. Parking is tricky as you would expect in central Florence but the owners kindly arranged for parking at a nearby garage which worked just fine
We were very pleased with our stay at Tourist House Ghiberti! Location - excellent! Just a 2 minute walk to the Duomo, wow. Plenty to eat and see nearby. The train station is a 20 minute walk, and most other things anywhere from 10-15 minutes walk. Services - breakfast is provided, I consider it a very nice spread for a small privately owned B&B! We were able to borrow a movie to watch for the evening, they have quite a nice collection in several languages. There are also books available to read, and a large selection of tv channels. There is also a computer in the room with internet & printing capabilities. The staff were always very helpful and willing to do what they could to make our stay perfect. Price - very reasonable, all things considered! Remember it's not a chain, it's just a B&B so while it may not have airport transfer or some other amenity you are used to, when you take into account the location and all you are getting it's really quite a steal. And it does have quite a lot available! Even the price of the mini bar is affordable. (1-2 euro for drinks and snacks!) Other -rooms were clean and beautiful! Painted ceilings and tasteful artwork on the walls. Large bathroom with tub & shower, large king size bed. - Quiet rooms, pretty well insulated. We were not bothered by outside noise. - Elevator is available - Security is very good - key card access needed for 1 outer door, gate, inner door, and bedroom door. A safe & phone are provided in the room. - Dry cleaning is available, and an iron can be provided upon request. -Sauna, Jacuzzi -rooms have air conditioning, it works very well! -coffee/tea/electric kettle in rooms
