This was one of our favorite hotels during our entire trip to Italy. Our room had a beautiful view of the river and very spacious, especially compared to the typical Italian hotel room. It is close enough to all the tourist stops that you can walk there quite easily but not so close that there is too much noise. The staff was very helpful during the entire stay. The roof top restaurant offers a great place to watch the sun go down and we enjoyed the ground floor restaurant that featured live piano music through the evening.
This was my favorite hotel to stay in on our trip to Italy. We took the train into Florence from Rome and we were able to walk to the hotel with our carry on bags with no issue. it's about an 8 min walk. The hotel used to be a monastery so there's a lot of beauty and interesting details inside and outside of the building. We are platinum members on SPG and were so fortunate enough to be upgraded to the Corner Suite overlooking the Arno. We had a balcony that opened up and we used it every single day and night. The bed was super comfortable, the room was enormous, double sink bathrooms with plenty of space to move around. We stayed here five nights and it was like home away from home. Their breakfast buffett is really good too. Well worth the add on. Great staff as well, everyone was always super friendly and helpful. I give this hotel an A++++. I would recommend to any type of traveller.
My brother made a non refundable reservation and chose wrong dates, we immediately called after the reservation to amend the dates they refused to cooperate with us and tried to charge 1800 euros for the full stay. Their representative was extremely rude, charging me 1800 eruo for a typo mistake shows what kind of morals they got
We traveled from California and this was our first stop in Italy. What a wondeerful experience! We were greeted with the warmest welcome and service. Our doorman took care of our car without us even knowing it had been parked. The front desk staff were very professional also. We got there rather late and decided to have a snack at the rooftop bar--what an experience that was. They had a buffet of hor'deurves which was spectacular in itself! And the drinks were great. Our room was magnificant (large); the bed was so comfortable. We had a beautiful view of the river out our window. Staying here was a wonderful way to start our three week vacation in Italy. Thank you Westin staff - you are all very professional and kind.
The hotel staff welcomes you already at the gate in the very professional way. The check-in experience was simple and friendly. While our room was not ready yet, we were given temporary room to refresh after the trip and rest. It was very nice gesture. The hotel is located in former monster turned to with time into private town residence to become finally the Excelsior Hotel in XIX century. Lobby, stair case, hallways, restaurant and lobby bar are kept in the original style and makes you feel you turned back in time. Our room was large with windows overseeing river Arno. The decor of the room was stylish with furnitures and architectural details matching the historical legacy of the building. At the same time room was renovated and modern. There was a large marble bath with bathtub and walk-in shower. Breakfast room staff are class act. they are friendly, helpful and reactive. Gym is not very well equipped, but it is possible to do the basic training routine.
A short distance from the train station sits this beautiful hotel with amazing charm. The room with an amazing view of the Duomo was romantic with an extremely comfortable bed. The breakfast was very good w/ the made to order eggs or omelets along with nice selection of meats and fruits. The concierge was extremely helpful and pointed us to some restaurants we could have hoped for. Truly enjoyed the rooftop bar for a pre-dinner cocktail while watching the sun set on this beautiful city.
We stayed at several Westin hotels while touring Italy and this one was definitely the best. The location is great. The beds at Westin are always superb and great for sleep quality. We were upgraded to a junior suite which was very nice. Breakfast was very good at this hotel. One thing that often irritates me at hotels is the internet service or lack of, but the internet at this hotel was reliable and fast. Service was great. We also enjoyed drinks on the rooftop terrace and a meal at the restaurant on the top floor. I would stay at this hotel again. Loved Florence!
As a Platinum member, we were upgraded to a large room overlooking the Arno river. The room was excellent. Very spacious and very quiet. The hotel itself was marvelous, with beautiful art and helpful staff. The only complaint was prices. The cheapest glass of wine in the rooftop bar is 15 euro. Meanwhile, at a Michelin starred dinner in town, you can find bottles of wine of better quality for 30-40 euro. Similarly, if breakfast is not included in your rate, it is 25 euro per person. I would skip the restaurants and eat/drink in town!
We had a large room that unfortunately had a shortage of drawers which meant that we lived somewhat out of a suitcase. The location was very good and within easy walking distance of all the sights in Florence.
One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Great service, wonderful views of Florence, exceptionally quiet and the room, with its high ceilings and beautiful furnishings was first rate. Try the buffet breakfast and drinks at the rooftop bar at sunset.
