Just left Hotel Goldoni, location is great for Florence and rooms are a great size. The only issue was the smell in room 25 - stayed for 2 nights brought up the issue in day one and we were happy for the staff to bleach the drains and try and clear the smell on the basis that if it still smelled on day two we would be moved. This was continually promised and on day two we were told the hotel was full and we would not be moved and nothing would be done further. Our bags had to be locked away in the wardrobe with the hope our belongings would not pick up the smell. Major disappointment to our trip and no support from staff.
We enjoyed our visit at the quirky 3* hotel. The elevator was epic, proper old school. The staff were accommodating and friendly, breakfast hit the spot too. It's not a 5* hotel, but you know his when you book the place. Excellent value for money and a great location.
had to book at the last minute, 3 hours before my flight left USA, and Goldoni was offering a deal, slightly over U$60 for a single. (Even though getaroom.com bumped the price up $7 from what Kayak had said it would cost). I booked for the location, near the Arno in July, and near the station/airport bus. checkin was fine, desk personnel have limited english on the late-night shifts, but enough to get by. Air Con in july was functional, not freezing, just enough to take the swelter off. Staff was pleasant and helpful, unlike other reviewers experiences, and I thought the antique elevator was just charming---it works like a dream. Room was fine, not deluxe, but not tiny for a single either. Breakfast was fine also, plenty of food, and no issues if you wanted seconds, or something special like ice. Biggest issue was the wifi internet. Yes they have it, but the signal is pretty weak, and occasionally fades out. My room was just two doors down from the lobby desk and even there it was weak. Saw a lady complaining that she couldn't get it regularly in her room and had to bring her computer to the lounge to get work done. Sometimes my signal was fine, and i was even able to stream some youtube videos, and sometimes it dropped altogether. First day in europe there's always plenty of internet work to be done, finishing up issues around your departure, getting your cellphone activated, confirming other reservations, etc, and it would have been great to have a rock-solid wifi connection to help with that. Hoped for better wifi in a big-city 3-star, but maybe next time. Location by the Arno River meant you were in the coolest part of the city on these hot july days, and the nighttime temperature outside the hotel was just delightful.
In Florence for a week and stayed at The Goldoni where the hotel was very clean, the staff so helpful (especially with the carta igienica), and cheerful. The breakfast was good, the beds comfortable and the air conditioning very efficient. I should also say the hotel is very centrally placed, close to most of the attractions in Florence. I would recommend a stay at The Goldoni.
We arrived at the train station and began our walk to find the hotel, it was suppose to be a 10 minute walk, we ended up walking for close to 20 minutes and walked straight past it! We found out that the hotel is on the second floor and there is a gold sign on a wall next to a wooden door, totally inconspicuous. My husband was pushing 2 large suitcases and I was pulling 2 smaller ones, because of the small cooble footpath the handle broke on our luggage from all the pushing and pulling. By the time we arrived we were angry and exhausted. Good things was they allowed us to check in early and we had a very large room, the location is perfect and walking distance to major sites and city centre. Wifi was not good, kept dropping out because our room was at the far end.
Good location near the river. Around 7mn walking from the smn station. The staff is very welcoming and helpfull they are veey flexible. They helped us having a great time in florence. Also they allowed us couple of times to have an early breakfasr in order to do our early tours. Breakfast is great.very clean rooms. I can only mention one negative thing that the walls are thin and rooms are not sound proof. Other than that it is a great and Recomended hotel.
We were greeted by a friendly and welcoming gentleman at reception. The hotel had a lovely scent and good wifi! The rooms were clean and spacious. The bathroom although a little cramped was clean and modern. We were provided with all the required amenities and they were replenished daily! A limited cold buffet breakfast was available in the mornings to get you started for the day ahead. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Excellent value for money and have exceeded my expectations for a 3 star establishment!
This hotel is in a great location and is fine for a few days stay. It was nice and clean and the towels were changed daily. Breakfast was good and plentiful. The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. Our room (a double) was rather small and had a window that looked out onto a ventilation shaft rather than a 'real' view which was a bit disappointing but our grown up children shared a twin that was MUCH bigger and had a lovely view, so it's the luck of the draw!
We arrived in Firenze on a very hot day, about 11:00. We were met with cheer and helpfulness. They got us into a room (early) and right away. The room was large, clean, the shower had great water pressure, the breakfast got us on the way the next morning. The wifi is also really good! I highly recommend this hotel. The location is great!
We stayed here for three nights during the hottest days of the year so far - 28 to 30 degrees. On arrival we were told the air conditioning was not working but would be available from the next day. As the air conditioning was not working on the first night we left the window open with the obvious result that we were both bitten by mosquitoes. For the second night we presumed the air conditioning had been fixed and set the thermostat to 21 degrees expecting the room to stay cool overnight. This proved incorrect and we we had to open the window so were again bitten. We reported the issue to the staff the next morning. On our return later that day we were assured the problem was fixed. It was and the air conditioning ran through the night. Unfortunately it was dripping throughout the night onto both of my pairs of shoes and my trousers and created a very dangerous puddle on the tiled floor. The response of the owner / manager in the morning was basically "your shoes and trousers will dry" followed by "why were they there anyway?" The shoes were alongside the suitcase stand and my trousers resting over the suitcase. After a short discussion I asked if he was actually going to apologise and his response was I am sorry but that is it. As we were travelling home that day I was forced to wear damp shoes and trousers all day. This problem was a very disappointing end to our stay in Florence. The hotel is well located, includes a simple continental breakfast and the room we had (apart from the puddle) was reasonably comfortable. Hopefully the issue is now resolved.
