Hotel De Lanzi

I have stayed at the de Lanzi multiple times over the past 12 years and have always found it a positive experience, which is why I keep going back. Some rooms have a glorious view of the Duomo that is only a block away. The staff is always pleasant and helpful and breakfast is the typical Italian breakfast and is served in a very pleasant bright dining room. I am a woman who travels alone and I have always felt very safe there, and the location being right in the center of things allows me to be at popular sites quickly. While being very close to everything, it is only a block off the main tourist street between the Duomo and Piazza della Signoria and is quite quiet. It is a tremendous value for the cost.

The location is excellent. The rooms are not big, and it was cold a bit for us, biut clean, more than enough to spend the night in the room. The staff are kind, the restaurant was small but OK. It is a great place to spend Your Florance holiday there.

Already reviewed on expedia but after seeing one pretty bad review from the same month we stayed I felt I should add one here too! The place is definitely quirky but in a good way; its built into a very old building, and it was spotless. So yep wifi was charged and cot was €10 extra but that was clear when I booked so for people to be complaining about that is pretty pointless. Only 'negative' I'd say is decor in rooms a bit dated but that's my personal taste- and it would be ridiculous to have a v modern interior in such an old hotel. Breakfast was good, and staff were great.

Room itself: we were on the third floor with a spectacular view of the duomo. By far best part of the room. However, we almost always had to have the window open as my allergies were acting up from the dust (carpets and what seemed like an old comforter). Sheets were new and clean, bathroom was clean. When I think 3 star I think holiday inn, and this room was a significant step below a HInn. Feel like I overpaid for the quality of room I received. Location: couldn't have been better if you are there for tourist purposes. Right next to duomo and walking distance from everything (including train station). Also another hotel in the building has a rooftop bar/cafe area that has absolutely amazing views and $3 glasses of wine with some snacks. Absolute must even if you don't end up staying here!!!!!! Service: There are two very weird policies. You need to drop your room key off at the front desk every single time you leave the hotel, which is a giant inconvenience as the lobby is not located on the ground floor (for me I had to leave third, go to first, then ground). Over the trip the time adds up for something that seems completely non-essential. Additionally, they never asked for any ID or information when I came to pick it up last night.. I stopped dropping it off after that. Second, they were very, very strict about breakfast. They would not let my Girlfriend grab an Orange a few minutes after "9:30", even though many guests were still eating. Finally, I specified in my reservation I was celebrating my birthday. I don't really care that they didn't mention it or do anything, but would've been a nice gesture. I wouldn't recommend or stay again unless location is extremely important.

Personally, it was not as good as I was expecting, I paid more than Rome for a hotel in Florence and got less than that. Even the wifi offered was not available for free. Breakfast was good though, limited options but hood in taste.

We stayed for seven nights and everything was nice. The best thing was, as others have already stated, the hotel's location. The Duomo is across the street, and everything else is near the hotel as well. We could get to anywhere just walking and then get back to the hotel to leave the bags in our room after doing some shopping. Really, the location is THAT amazing. The room was enough for us, not tiny and not too big, everything was clean and tidy and just fine. The bathroom was perfectly clean as well. Every member of the staff we met was really nice to us all the time, and did their best to make us feel comfortable. I don't know what other people expect for a breakfast, but it was more than enough for us. They had pastries, cereals, different kinds of bread, yogurts, cheese, cooked ham, salami, marmalades, honey, some tea and all kinds of coffee. Plus you could have breakfast while seeing the Duomo through the window, which is amazing. We will definitely consider staying at De Lanzi again when we go back to Florence and recommend it to anybody looking for a nice place with a great location and good prices.

We stayed in this hotel for four nights. It is a basic hotel - but perfect for our needs. Right in the heart of Florence - and beside the fabulous Duomo. We got to see this every morning & evening. Bedrooms are good - beds are comfy and the bathrooms very clean. Breakfast is adequate - cereal, rolls, croissants & toast. Fruit & yogurt. Cheeses, ham. Certainly enough to set you up for the day. Good value - great location - and really helpful and friendly staff - especially Eleanor. Would stay here again if back in Florence

This small but very clean hotel was great for a short 3 night stay in Florence. Staff were extremely helpful and spoke excellent English. So close to the Duomo and Piazza de Republica and near to restaurants and gelato shops (which can be a bit noisy but hey - it's Italy.) Reasonable cost and location make it a great option and breakfast is included.

Loved staying here ... Maybe fifty metres from the duomo. Very convenient to many restaurants, galleries, coffee shops and close to the train station. Good breakfast. Very friendly helpful staff. I felt like I has really fortunate to discover this place.

Room was ok, but hot with no air circulation. Window opened to courtyard, but due to the courtyard being a smoking area, the air was unpleasant. The breakfast was probably the most limited/worst I've seen in the 3 star hotel category. However, could not ask for a better location! 1 min or less from Duomo, located off a side street. Would stay here again if we obtained a good rate, but only due to its location. 15 min walk to train station, 10 min walk to Ponte Vecchio.
