Lakeside Motel & Apartments
5/5 Excellent
"The manager (possibly the owner) was lovely. We had a lake view room, which was beautiful once the fog lifted. It’s an easy walk to nearby restaurants, and we stayed for two nights on our way to and from Milford Sound—a great place to stop. The unit was clean and very well renovated, and we were pleasantly surprised to have an ensuite in the two-bedroom setup.
The only downside was the underfloor heating. I loved it, but my husband and daughter had trouble sleeping, even with the window open. We asked if the temperature could be lowered, but the only option was to turn it off entirely, as it takes 24 hours for the floor to cool. Thankfully, they slept better the second night once the heater was off."
