We had a great time at Wellesley Resort, the location is perfect, in the middle of tropical forest. The food is amazing, so is the friendly staff. We enjoyed the walks with locals when you can learn about, see and taste local nature. We spent a lot of time snorkeling, kayaking and swimming. We recommend it for those who want to escape the crowds as it is a small and isolated place.
I actually proposed to my girlfriend on this resort, staffs were amazing and helpful organizing my proposal, Highly recommended the Chef, we both loved all the meals he cooked. staffs are friendly and helpful. Sibil the fishing guy was amazing, we tried the hand fishing and we caught a few snappers, absolutely love my experience with him, my only problem is the $10 charge to pick you up from the main rd, so be aware of it, I personally think they should pick up guest from the main road and it is our first impression of the place was the 10 pick up fee, we are gonna spend our $$ inside the resort anyways and makes us feel welcome rather than bluntly said it's a $10 fee to pick up us from the main road. all about the first impression of going to a new resort, Anyways that was my only negative on this amazing place. I will still go back to this resort.
We loved our time at the Wellesley recently. Booked in one of their new Pool Villas - they're so spacious at 140sqm. It was great fun having our own private pool to relax in. Restaurant meals were delicious and the location and setting of the resort on the white sand beach was just perfect. The water was so warm I just didn't want to get out!!
We stayed at the Wellesley for 5 nights and relaxed into the pace of 'Fiji time' well and truly! Being a small resort, it was very quiet which was wonderful. The resort is in a small valley leading down to the beach- amazing! Clear water, a line of seaweed then beautiful aqua water perfect for snorkelling, before waves crashing on the reef. We spent much time relaxing on the loungers on the deck by the pool, enjoying the view, peace, heat, gentle breeze and sound of the waves breaking. Sunsets from there were amazing! The water was warm and during higher tide (morning and late afternoon) was perfect for swimming, we spent many hours in the water. There is also a short beach for slow wandering by the water's edge or in the shade of the coconut palms. Our room was lovely- great air con, comfortable bed, plenty of space as well as tidy and neatly made up each day. The outdoor shower was a highlight! Showering while looking up at the flowers and palms, or full moon- divine! Staff around the resort were friendly and helpful- always a smile and 'bula!' on meeting. We had all meals at the restaurant, which had a lovely menu. Plenty of choice and meals were fresh and tasty. Extra water bottles, towels, snorkels and information provided on request. Good wifi in the restaurant/central part of resort. Lovely also sitting by the pool and garden, on loungers in the shade. Next time, we'd arrange for the airport transfer through the resort rather than another company. Would definitely return! Quiet, beautiful and the perfect place to recharge!
The hotel is advertised as adults only, no guests under age 16. This is a lie. We awoke to the shrieking of children at 7:30am our FIRST MORNING there. There was a family of SEVEN in the room next to us, three adults and FOUR kids all under age 10. The kids screamed and ran wild throughout the resort, jumping in the pool, splashing, yelling, shrieking on the beautiful private beach for two nights and three days while their parents yapped on their cell phones. When I asked at reception why the hell there were kids in adult only hotel I was told, "oh yes, they checked in last night, we'll tell them to be quiet." Blatant false advertising and when I complained I was told flatly nothing would be done about it except moving us to another room to be further from their noise, a standard room when we paid for an executive suite. We live in a neighborhood with kids on all sides and just wanted one week to be able to sleep in. Thanks for making us travel 18 hours and spending 6k to ruin our honeymoon, Wellesley Fiji.
We stayed at the resort for a week and had a beautiful time in family. Everyday there are different activities to choose from such as cava tasting, fresh coconut tasting, garden walks and fishing. There are also two kayaks and snorkeling equipment available for use at any time. We stayed at the Wellington Suite which had it's private pool and was close to the reception and restaurant. Breakfast was delicious! Chosen from the menu and cooked in the moment. Do not expect a fast served breakfast, they have their "fiji time" to make it. The beach is just a few meters from the main pool. Do not miss the sunset! The staff is friendly and fun, composed by locals who great you "Bula!" at all times. They kindly helped us with everything we needed and thought us about their tradition. This is a place to scape from the cities and relax. Cars: be careful with the type of car you rent, the main road to the resort needs a lot of reparation (holes and rocks). Thank you guys so much for a great week!! :) Vinaka!
We stayed at the Wellesley for a week, just returned. Exactly what the title says - the setting was incredible. Tranquil and peaceful, surrounded in tropical palms with a 180 degree view of a white sand beach. We lived at the beach for our week long stay. The deck that they had right on the beach was bliss - staff brought us cocktails and waited on us hand and foot. Nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in the Pool Villas. They were INCREDIBLE! Just loves soaking in privacy in our own private pool. Highly recommended and so romantic. We had a couple of local tourist outings, visiting the nearby ecopark, had a fun game of golf and did a day trip to Suva to immerse ourselves in the local city! The Wellesley really was our haven though. The food was incredible, felt like a kid in a candy shop. Top job Wellesley. We WILL be back!!
We were so impressed with our recent stay at the Wellesley. We even extended it by another 4 nights! All room types are great, spacious and modern - we viewed them all as we are planning our wedding here. The Pool Villas are incredible with your own private pool - we still loved the big main pool though and the lagoon has incredible swimming and snorkeling experiences. You feel so safe there - I'm a bit of a sook in the water usually. The meals were delicious every time - and we ordered something different every day. The staff couldn't do enough for us, they were just so caring a helpful and proud of their resort -as they should be! Couldn't rate this highly enough. Can't want to go back!!
We booked an Executive suite, full board, for 7 nights. Genuine Fiji hospitality and ambience with modern style. Accomodation fresh and spacious, with modern amenities set in Fijian style, a welcome find after an arduous road journey. A rental car is essential for access to Wellesley Resort as it is 4 kms off main road, and 2 hr slow trip from Nadi. We were blessed with a week of perfect weather and spent our days 'beachcombing', lovely white sand (not hard coral), swimming (safe) both at beach and resort pool, reading (from the library on site), adjusting to 'Fiji time'. Staff are gentle, happy, eager to please, room serviced daily, unlimited bottled water is complimentary, starting our day with breakfast on the deck looking out to the lagoon and reef beyond, a la carte dining, with a feature being fresh locally sourced produce (also 5 different kinds of fish), beautiful sunsets as Wellesley faces west. We slept well and slowed to the Fiji pace by 2nd day! Half hour along main road to Pacific Harbour shopping centre was a diversion one day, as were visits to other close by activities, fishing trips, etc. We will add Wellesley to our list of 'will return' destinations!
We were so looking forward to our stay at this hotel as we both work full time and were in need of a much needed chill out, but were left bitterly let down and appalled at the condition of the facilities, On arrival we sat down to dinner to find that the prawns were a little on the pale side and slightly under cooked and the main meal wasn't much better, and as we ate overlooking the lit pool it looked rather murky. We woke in the morning and headed for the pool after eating breakfast that included bacon that if you dropped it on the floor would have shattered into a hundred pieces it was that frazzled. The pool is surrounded by a timber decking which when walked on the boards would start coming up and weren't fastened down as all the timbers are rotting underneath and was really unsafe and uneven with trip hazards everywhere. The pool was murky and you could not see the bottom and had black algae around the edges and was not in a clean state and unswimmable and the sunlounge covers had black mould on them so we headed down to the beach sun lounge area which was in no better state with dirty and untidy sun lounge covers. There was 1 kayak which was in a bad state so we could not go out for a paddle as a couple and no massage available as advertised. Then came the final straw my wife got food poisoning and ended up in bed on our 2nd day. There was a lady called Margaret there whom was representing the Wellesley to whom we raised our concerns and she fully understood our grievances and deep down I think she had been sent to the resort to get it back to the place they were advertising it to be. We made the decision to fly home early as this far from the place describe in the hotels website and by flight centre whom had sold us the deal and the best they could other us was a move to another hotel at a cost of an extra $600 per night at our own expense. We were told the builder was coming to fix up all the decking and they are building 2 new villas at the back of the beach side sun lounging area so where were we going to get some piece and quiet in this so called tranquil environment. This Hotel could be that perfect destination as advertised but a hell of a lot of restoration work is needed to bring it up to standard as the rooms are beautiful as are the staff albeit the service in the restaurant/bar is at snails pace. The location is stunning as are the lush gardens and views. We will be seeking a full refund as our dream break turned into a nightmare
