Palmlea Farms Lodge & Bures3.0 out of 5.0

Palmlea farms is a dreamy getaway, that is located in totally natural surroundings - almost jungle like. It is eco - friendly, and they grow much of their own food. I was looking for a quiet, and peaceful and this was it! The accommodations are cozy. The sounds of nature is all you hear. Seriously. the food is made fresh when you order it. and I feel like I was treated like a queen. Truly will come here again if I ever do return to Fiji. you do need your own transport, but the staff also will help you get around. I did the snorkeling today and it was beyond my dreams. the water, the views, the reef, the fish. I am blessed to have found Palmlea farms. A great place to end my month-long Fijian experience. Every staff member was wonderful.
Off the grid accommodation in natural surroundings with sea views. Helpful to have own transport, preferably higher vehicle suitable for gravel road. Nice pool. Lovely hosts. Very good cook , fresh local produce.
Palmlea is both a dreamy sanctuary and an inspirational example of sustainable farm tourism. Breezy, stylish and very comfortable bamboo bungalows in a lush tropical garden overlooking the spectacular, secluded bay; warm, friendly and personalised hospitality; classy organic home-grown meals; kayaking, snorkelling and, honestly - the cutest baby goats ever! Our every need was cheerfully attended to and we felt right at home. Can't wait for our next visit.
Stayed this past weekend for the first time and we really enjoyed ourselves. Joe and Julie have built the place from the ground up, and their care and customer service reflect that! The small team at Palmlea really take care of you and cater to your specific needs (I'm a fussy eater and my boyfriend is vegetarian). The room was very clean and breezy - the fan was plenty to keep us cool, and the bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed doing some laps in the long pool surrounded by flowers. The food was incredible and sourced from the freshest of ingredients as they have a farm on-site. Julie gave me some repellent when the mosquitoes bothered me in the evenings (which happens to me anywhere in the tropics). I loved that the place was small, it really felt like an escape - you won't hear cars going past, and they've made it very eco-friendly. Overall, a very enjoyable stay in a very peaceful location with fantastic hosts.
As stated, the best thing about this place is Multi, the infectiously sweet and happy Chef and the food she cooks. The rest, I'm afraid is disappointing. Although it may have been a great place once, as the previous reviewer stated, it really has fallen into disrepair. For the price it is simply not worth it. Some of the issues in this otherwise promising place. 1. Room was dirty, mosquito net had mould, bed was ridden with sand fleas. 2. We specifically asked owner whether rooms were hot (as we had an infant with us which we told owner) but were told there was a fan and that they were airy. We had a room thermometer with us and 2 days in a row the thermometer recorded 35 degrees in the room = too hot for anyone! There is a difference between roughing it and being eco, and just being downright uncomfortable (and dangerous for young children) most of the day. 3. Pool was dirty and even though there were ground staff, we had to use net ourselves each day to spend time getting out bees, insects leaves etc... 4.. It lists TV/DVD/Bathtub and Free wifi in all rooms. Our room had none of these. 5. The main bure where you eat needs a large overhead fan. This would be an inexpensive and more effective way for the owners to keep all the mosquitos away. 6. From the pictures it looks as though the beach is nearby, but to get to the beach you have to take a very hot 10 minute walk down to the mangroves and jetty, get kayaks and then paddle 20-30 minutes just to get there. In the heat this is a recipe for heatstroke or at least being superbly uncomfortable.
We had money stolen from our passport wallet in our bag and from my wallet - the owner, Julie, didnt give us our room keys and insisted that we didn't need to lock our doors. We went for a walk after asking for directions from an employee - the next day we found some of our money had gone missing. On leaving Palmlea we got into Nadi and opened our travel wallets to discover that more of our cash had been stolen. When we called Julie to report the theft she accused us of lying and said nothing of the sort happens at her resort. Unfortunately this had happened to us but the owners refused to acknowledge wrongdoing on their part. The other issue is that the resort has fallen into disrepair, was filthy and infested with mosquitoes and bugs. The toilets and rooms desperately need cleaning.
My boyfriend and I had a truly amazing three nights because of the hospitality of the lovely owners, Joe and Julie. The little bungalows aren’t too fancy, but they’re adorable and have everything you need - not that it matters, because the views and jaw dropping ocean setting make up for it 100x over. We loved getting off the grid and spending three days exploring, kayaking, and snorkeling at the gorgeous private sandbar in the middle of the ocean they can take you out to. The organic food was spectacular and the love and care that went into building the place can be felt everywhere. There’s plenty of big corporate resorts in Fiji...go to those if you want an average time with a bunch of other tourists (we spent a couple nights at those, too!) But if you want a something more personal, a little adventurous, and truly relaxing, I can not recommend Palmlea Farms enough. Thank you Joe and Julie!!
I recommend Palmlea highly, for a peaceful, relaxing break. The views are superb. The bure was clean and comfortable with excellent toilet and shower facilities. Also the best insect screens on windows and doors I've ever seen. Our host Kate went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. Julie and Joe who are normally the hosts were on holiday. The staff also were most accommodating, nothing was too much trouble and the food all freshly cooked from local produce, was delicious. If you want a holiday were you can sit by the pool, in total peace and quiet or swim or kayak in the lagoon, be well fed and pampered ......this is the place for you.
My boyfriend and I visited Palmlea for our anniversary while in Fiji. The views were beautiful and Palmlea made us the BEST FOOD we had on the island! Every meal was fresh and delicious; we looked forward to a big breakfast every morning of coffee, fresh fruit from the farm, homemade toast and jam, and eggs. We hired the staff to take us out on the boat to go snorkeling and despite the weather not being the most favorable, still had a great time. The guys brought fresh coconuts for us and opened them up with machetes after we got out of the water. With no TV, and Wi-Fi only available in the lodge, we had a wonderful, unplugged, few days at Palmlea Farms.
A great place for a peaceful break with comfortable accomodation and excellent meals and service. Only two accomodation bures mean you will get careful attention from the hosts who can entertain you with great stories about their extensive yacht cruising experience.
