I must agree that this place is overpriced. Whole place could do with a lick of paint, which i wouldn't mention if it wasn't so pricey. The room was pretty good; kitchenette, balcony with a nice view and everything in the room worked. I like the decor and furniture. Beds not fabulously comfy but ok for a night or two. Staff were mostly good. Location is brilliant; close to town and also quiet. I had a disagreement with the manager when I arrived hot, flustered and harangued by children. I must concede, she handled it pretty well!
Customer service has to be commended here, the staff were helpful and attentive. As for the hotel itself, the rooms were very basic, very outdated and half the light switches and power outlets didn't work or worked of their own accord. As for views, we had a barbed wire fence and dumped rubbish on one side, an air conditioning unit and stairwell on the other. If it weren't for the great staff this place would get a terrible rating, for the price paid it was woeful.
Overrated, horrible and would never visit again. I had to lodge a complaint to consumer council and they are currently doing a assessment on the standard of the hotel.I paid 6 nites but had to check out just 1 nite and receptionist said they will still take 3 nites payments as it's they policy..Visitors was allowed to stay only till 8pm..What a bloody joke..
This apartment is too underrated. Staff should be commended for a job well done. Clean beds, big room, friendly staff, big bathroom. Only stayed a night but we enjoyed our stay. It wasn’t bad as the reviewers on expedia made it out to be. Just a minute walk to town. Carpark spaces were available.
Just like other reviews given, this place is overpriced for the quality and cleanliness of it all. The entire place was run down and not well cleaned. There are no lifts and room service. Only good is the location - located in the heart of the city and within walking distance. Other than that, wouldn't recommend, for long stays.
Suva's hotels are overpriced, I wonder why. The city doesn't offer much. Capricorn Apartment Hotel is just a few minutes walking distance from the bus-station and easy to find. It's a bit hills up, so you must be fit. Receptionists are friendly and helpful, but room is without wifi. It's a spacious room with a kitchenette. However, the glory days are over. Very old furniture, not very inviting. Room could be cleaner and better designed. Even the swimming pool looks desperate - like the whole hotel.
I was shocked by 2 things. 1. Decent families actually came to stay at a hotel that looked more like a brothel 2. A hotel like De Vos on the park has partnered with them. I was forced to stay here by De Vos. The staff were friendly but not very helpful and articulate. The room was big, not very clean, I swear something bit me all night as my body itched on that bed. Next day in the morning I ran off to De Vos again. Downright pathetic, less of a hotel more of a brothel.
I would say that the staff who helped were the only plus point. On the other hand, the floor wasn't swept properly with dead insects and lizard faeces.. please take your own towels. And get your milk and tea supplies.. and having to pay soo much for one night is unbelievable.. was the last choice of accomodation as others were fully booked.. I'd recommend you to save your money for a better resort If only they could do some improvements by taking down faded paintings and all I guess it would look better
I stayed here for at least four nights. It is clean but could really need some areas concentrating when clean some dirt and insects still around so probably needs to have their staff to be more vigilant when cleaning. Enough room to cater for a family on a budget stay. Very safe when you in the hotel but need to be careful around the street best not to venture out at night. The Fijian of Indian origin that is the receptionist was very helpful though stern, she was quite truthful in her answers when being questioned about the place of which I really appreciated. The security and cleaners are very very nice they made my stay a good one. Cooking facilities provided which is a plus. I stayed here because other places was booked out and I was quite happy never regretted it.
Staying at Capricorn was by far my worst experience till date. Firstly, it is not worth the price at all. If they charge immense amount of money for a room, then the room should be up to par. Walking to the room was an experience in itself as i had to make my way past all the dirt and dead insects. I expected the room to be better, but i was heavily disappointed. The bathtub was dirty and there were ants crawling on the toilet seat. The fridge door had a clip on it to keep it from opening. What shocked me more was that the fridge was covered in mold and there was food left in the fridge by the previous occupants of the room. There was also an open jar of sugar in the fridge amidst the molds. To add to that, the fridge was leaking. All the kitchen appliances were rusty and old. If that wasn't enough, the bed sheets were dirty there were dead ants on it. I stayed there with my family and it is not an experience that i want to go through again. We would have moved to another hotel if they had rooms available for a big family. My family and I stayed there for a day only and it was horrible. The receptionist was extremely rude to the cleaners. She was questioning them for laughing, which seemed pretty bizarre. I think the receptionist failed to realize that humans have rights and they don't need her permission to laugh. Screaming at their cleaners will not magically make their rooms any better when their appliances itself are so old and rusty. It seems like the owner is a cheapskate and doesn't want to spend money on making his hotel a more comfortable place for his guests. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. This hotel needs to either shut down or needs some serious renovation.
