The rooms are named after The Open winners. Lovely rooms with nice bath features. Could use a little more drawer space. Bed also could use new mattress. The Spa area, shared with club members is wonderful . Fantastic hot tub area with steam room and ice plunge. Breakfast in Road Hole Restaurant.

An amazing day from the moment we arrived! Thanks to Olga and Annalise (sp?) and Martin for making our day so memorable but all staff were fabulous! The Spa is world-class, facilities everything expected of the elegant St Andrews and the treatments, lunch, champagne and canapés added up to a real spoiling! Can't recommend highly enough and can't wait to go back - congratulations everyone you do the company proud!

Visited here with friends for the set 3 course lunch . The venue is great with lovely views over the golf course. Food very nice limited choice on menu but to be expected when choosing set menu. Service was excellent. I would recommend.

Travelling for business was incredibly fortunate to be upgraded to a suite. Suite was fantastic overlooking the 16th green and 17th tee would love to go back with my wife. Breakfast on the 4th floor was very good. I have previously stayed at Gleneagles this hotel is of a similar standard and has the benefit of being on the course.

First time I think that I have ever rated everything excellent on T. A. Stayed at Old Course Hotel with a room facing the golf course. The room overlooks the famous 17th Road Hole. Also have a fabulous view of the North Sea. A comfy lounge chair in the bay window, looking at the spectacular view and able to relax and enjoy a cuppa. Hotel itself is luxury plus. Greeted with a glass of bubbles at reception. Room is 'brand new'. Refurbishment just finished. In the Arnold Palmer room. A super king size bed with the biggest cushions I've ever seen. A huge bath and high-tech shower system. Plush bathrobes and slippers. Just lovely. Breakfast at 6.30a.m. on the top floor with sweeping views of the golf course and the North Sea. Black pudding as well as haggis on the menu. Passed. otherwise, fabulous. There is a spa and heated indoor pool on site. Treatments start at £99. Pool is free. Whiled away time in the heated pool, with waterfall. Spent some time in the jacuzzi and Japanese steam room. These were located in the Thermal Suite, along with a sauna and icy plunge pool. The change rooms were out of this world. Beautiful lounges and dressing areas. Hair dryers, straighteners, mousse, hairspray, cleansers, body lotions and potions all freely available. There was also a tea room, again with comfy lounges and tables and chairs, as well as the latest magazines - Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Tatler, etc Lovely being able to quietly relax with no one else around. There are lots of nooks and crannies, including the Library where you can just sit and relax. Enjoy the views. Watch people on the course playing golf. The staff were impeccable. From the doormen (Hello Tam) to the concierge to Reception staff. Very friendly. Happy to help with any questions. An absolutely stunning hotel. Thought it might be OTT and a bit too posh and stuffy. Anything but. You were made to feel very welcome and at home. Worth every penny spent.

I have just attended the Old Course Hotel as a guest at my friend's wedding. The ceremony room was absolutely beautiful, romantic and perfect for a wedding with room for all the guests (80 in total). I was quite near the front so was able to hear the vows & think the room was a perfect size for that number of guests. There was room for her to comfortably walk down the aisle with her Dad by her side. There was a floral archway that they walked under before making their vows with fresh flowers that my friend had ordered separately & it was absolutely stunning. The ballroom was enchanting, it has been recently refurbished and was a perfect size with an understated elegance to it, far better than the bars upstairs with dated and sad looking deer antler ornaments which are awful to look at. The size of the ballroom was small enough to feel intimate and yet large enough for a dance floor and for 10 large tables with 8 guests at each table with beautiful decorative centrepieces. My friend had a wedding planner which meant that the wedding flowed perfectly from start to finish & the hotel was easily able to facilitate these arrangements with precise timing of catering every step of the way. I have read reviews that the staff were rude or unfriendly however this was definitely not the experience we had; they were helpful, smiling and friendly for the whole day and night that we were there. The co-ordination, organisation, rooms, views, grounds & staff deserve 5 stars. There is a but coming which is why I have only given this 4 stars. I wouldn't have told my friend as this was her perfect day & I would never want to disappoint her but the food menu for vegetarians/vegans really needs looked at. For starters I had sun dried tomatoes in hard and not very tasty little pastry cups with a little bit of basil on top. I ate the sun dried tomatoes which were nice, not sour like they can be sometimes but that was just it really, a plate of sun dried tomatoes. For the main course I had gnocchi which was very simply gnocchi with a tomato sauce, no garnishes or anything added like mushrooms etc. I couldn't eat it all as it just tasted the same. For desert i ordered poached peaches with a hazelnut sponge which sounded delicious! When it arrived it was just poached peach with a couple of raspberries and a couple of blackberries which was very nice but not what my friend had paid for. There was a hog roast being served in the evening & so I had ordered a salad. A waiter came up to me to confirm it was me was a vegetarian & said he would bring me a salad. He returned with a bowl of lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber & anchovies. I couldn't believe it as it was the waiter whom i had confirmed my diet with just 2 mins prior to that! I saw another waiter and handed the bowl back & explained I was a vegetarian. The second waiter returned with bowl of lettuce, tomatoes and cucumber. No dressing or any other vegetables. I ate a couple of slices of cucumber & a slice of tomato but it was quite dry so I left the rest. I am very glad my friend wasn't a vegetarian herself & won't know about this (as she spent much of her time making sure everyone was happy & enjoying themselves) however I thought I would leave feedback for those wishing to get married in the hotel to ask them to cater for different diets. The food I had was just like an afterthought from the hotel chefs (or whoever decided on the menu) with no real effort made. More and more people these days are cutting out meat from their diet and I would have expected such a wonderful hotel like this to be miles ahead of everyone else. I am pretty sure the other guests who ate meat had a lovely meal. Having gotten that off my chest, I would have to say that i would absolutely 100% recommend the Old Course for a wedding. It was simply perfect & by far the best wedding I have ever been to!

This hotel has always been a significant landmark for many reasons over many years and our last visit showed that standards had been continually remained of the highest. This visit was for an afternoon tea after a walk along the headland. Service outstanding, the warmest of welcomes and my Earl Grey loose leaf tea was piping hot in China cups and saucers..... quite right too! A wonderful way to finish our visit to St.Andrews.

Whoever rates their experience at the Old Course Hotel less then 5 should get medication. We had an unforgettable experience. Not just because we are golf lovers and want to play the Old course at St. Andrews, but even the staff, hotel services, ect was just amazing. Staff went out of their way to assist us. Your concierge is "one of a kind" and one the best I've seen in the hotel industry. I think his name is Dany (sorry if i got this wrong), but he assisted me with a taxi and rental car from Dundee. He absolutely went above and beyond to assist us. He exceeded my expectations by far. Then there is the Polish restaurant manager Tom. Wow...was an amazing asset you have there. Him and the rest of the staff was truly amazing. Friendly, helpful, sense of humor, true hospitality, and not just because they had to, but i could see it is who they truely are in life as well. Nothing was fake in the service. Man oh man.....thank you for the most memorable stay. Excellent and Kudos. Dirk

Cannot praise the venue and staff enough. An all too short weekend break at the Old Course Hotel saw us arrived mid afternoon on a Saturday. Unexpected glass of fizz on arrival then shown to our room overlooking the famous 17th green. Far end of the hotel and could not have been closer to the iconic view. Pre booked spa treatment was better than had been expected, then it's not too often you can rely on a cloud free sky in Fife, but good timing meant we used the roof top hot tub at just the right time! Leisurely break before drinks and dinner in the Road Hole restaurant. Food was sublime and even this fussy diner could not find any fault. Breakfast hit all the spots too. Will definitely return, but for a longer stay!

I'm not usually one for writing reviews but when you've experienced the quality of stay that the Old Course Hotel delivers, it would be rude not to. I cannot fault anything from the moment we arrived at the hotel until the moment we left for home. The hotel itself is beautiful, the setting is amazing, the facilities are incredible, the food was superb... but more than anything else I have to praise the staff!! Each and every member of staff made it their sole objective to make the experience memorable!! It is very rare to encounter people who appear to be so passionate about where they work but that came across in abundance. I'm useless with names but special mention to Claire in reception, Annalise (?) at the spa and Jelena at Sands. Too many others to mention!!! Truly incredible experience!! Thank you!!!
